Chapter 68 Green Tea 2
Soon, heavy footsteps approached, and Department Head Hu, his face ashen, pushed through the crowd and rushed in. He immediately spotted Jiang Yining, who was being protected by several girls, her cheeks red and swollen, her eyes filled with tears, and her body still trembling slightly.
Then look at the group opposite them, who are usually quite arrogant, but now look pale and helpless, like Su Qingyao and the others.
"Su Qingyao, Xian Wenhui, you lot. Come to my office now, immediately!" Director Hu's voice trembled with anger, his eyes wide with fury. "Outrageous! Utterly outrageous!"
Su Qingyao glared at Jiang Yining, who was surrounded by the crowd and looked incredibly "weak, pitiful, and helpless." She was so angry that her whole body was trembling, and her beautiful face was twisted into a near-grotesque expression.
She never expected that this seemingly gentle and weak transfer student would actually be such a ruthless character who could act so well.
“Jiang Yining…” she squeezed out the name through gritted teeth, her voice trembling with extreme anger, “You just wait.”
As evening fell, the understated yet luxurious black Bentley smoothly drove into the villa area and stopped in front of a brightly lit villa. The driver respectfully opened the car door.
The clear handprint on her cheek had been treated with an ice pack, which reduced the swelling somewhat, but the finger mark was still obvious, making her look even more pitiful against her slightly pale face.
Jiang Yining got out of the car with her schoolbag in her arms and pushed open the villa door. Warm yellow light poured down from the entryway, and the living room lights were also on. She thought it was Xie's mother and was about to speak when her gaze suddenly froze.
Before the floor-to-ceiling window, a tall, imposing figure stood with his back to her, gazing at the twilight outside. A perfectly tailored dark gray suit jacket was casually draped over the sofa armrest, and he wore only a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing his muscular forearms. Even from behind, he exuded a powerful aura of control and the aloofness of someone accustomed to a position of authority.
It was Xie Shiyan; he's back from his business trip.
"Brother Shi Yan." Jiang Yining's eyes lit up, and the grievances and fatigue she felt at school were instantly dispelled by her surprise. Like a bird returning to its nest, she rushed over without even putting down her schoolbag and buried herself in his broad and warm embrace.
She wrapped her arms tightly around his lean waist, rubbed her face against the soft fabric of his shirt, and said in a sweet, honey-sweet voice, "You're back. I missed you so much."
The soft touch in his arms and the tender voice filled with affection instantly melted away the slight aloofness surrounding Xie Shiyan. His stern features softened visibly, a barely perceptible curve appeared at the corner of his lips, and his strong arms naturally embraced her, his large hand gently patting her back soothingly.
"Yes, it's over. I just got back." His deep, pleasant voice sounded above her head, carrying a hint of indulgence. "Missed me?"
"Yes, I really want to." Jiang Yining nodded vigorously, her fluffy head snuggling into his arms again.
Xie Shiyan chuckled softly, about to lean down and kiss the top of her head, when his gaze inadvertently swept over her upturned face. The glaring, still-swollen red finger mark burned into his eyes.
The tender and affectionate atmosphere just moments before froze instantly.
Xie Shiyan's aura suddenly plummeted to freezing point. His long, slender fingers, with an irresistible force, gently pinched Jiang Yining's chin, forcing her to fully expose her injured left cheek to his scrutinizing gaze. The temperature of his fingertips was icy cold.
"Who hit me?" He uttered those three words from his thin lips, his voice terrifyingly low, his gaze sharp as if trying to pierce through her flesh and reach the heart of the assailant.
Jiang Yining's heart skipped a beat at his sudden change in demeanor, but then a warm feeling of being cherished welled up inside her. She was no naive sweetheart who would swallow her anger and bear her bitterness in silence.
Since Xie Shiyan had asked, she immediately seized the opportunity to complain, her small mouth pouting, her eyes perfectly reddening, and her voice trembling with lingering fear:
"It was Su Qingyao from my class, who led a few girls to corner me in the stairwell. They cursed at me and tried to hit me. I dodged, but there were so many of them. In the chaos, someone pushed her, and her hand hit my face."
She downplayed the main points, omitting her role in "guiding" the situation entirely, and only emphasized the other party's intention to surround and insult them, as well as the resulting harm, thus perfectly portraying herself as a victim.
Xie Shiyan listened quietly, his fingertips gently tracing the uninjured skin on the edge of her cheek, but the fierceness in his eyes grew stronger.
After a long pause, he slowly released her chin, pulling her closer into his arms, his chin resting on the top of her head, his voice deep, cold, and resolute:
"Understood. Leave this to me." He paused, his tone carrying an undeniable air of control. "From now on, no one will be able to touch a hair on your head."
His embrace was warm and strong, dispelling the last trace of unease in Jiang Yining. She nestled against him obediently, like a little animal that had found shelter.
