Chapter 70 Cleaning Up

Chapter 70 Cleaning Up

He grew angrier as he spoke, and reached out to grab Jiang Yining's wrist, trying to forcibly pull her away. "Come here, let's talk this out."

The surrounding jeers abruptly ceased, turning into gasps of astonishment.

Jiang Yining's eyes turned cold as she looked at the outstretched hand. Just as she was about to dodge, a large, powerful hand with distinct knuckles appeared out of thin air and precisely grabbed Song Chi's wrist as he reached for Jiang Yining.

The force was so great that Song Chi instantly felt as if his wrist bones were about to be crushed. In the midst of the excruciating pain, he let out a scream: "Ah—who?"

A tall figure, exuding a chilling aura, completely shielded Jiang Yining behind him. Xie Shiyan appeared out of nowhere, his handsome face expressionless, only his eyes swirling with a chilling rage.

He was wearing a custom-made black suit, and his powerful aura silenced the noisy students around him instantly, causing them to instinctively take a step back.

"Brother Shi Yan" Jiang Yining immediately felt like she had found her pillar of support. She quickly hid behind his broad back, her small hands tightly gripping the fabric of his suit jacket at his waist. Her voice instantly switched to a wronged and frightened sobbing tone, trembling as she complained.

"It was him, he... he confessed to me, but I rejected him, saying I had a fiancé... He... he didn't believe me, and he even cursed at me and tried to hit me... I'm so scared..." As she spoke, she timidly peeked half her face out from behind Xie Shiyan, her terrified and tearful appearance was extremely pitiful.

The surrounding classmates: "..." Their eyes twitched collectively. Although...it seems...that's really the case? But the way this pretty classmate changed her expression so quickly and the way she accused him, so full of the aroma of tea, just felt a little off.

But what they didn't know was that Xie Shiyan had always been drawn to Jiang Yining's charm since he was a child. Even if she was wrong, he would still protect her.

Song Chi was in so much pain that he broke out in a cold sweat. Looking at the man who had suddenly appeared in front of him and whose aura was terrifying, a huge fear inexplicably welled up in his heart: "You...who are you? Let me go."

Xie Shiyan didn't even glance at him, as if he were holding nothing more than a piece of dirty trash. He suddenly tightened his grip on Song Chi's wrist, twisting and pushing it outwards.

"Ah—" Song Chi screamed as he was violently thrown to the ground by an irresistible force, like a tattered sack.

"Thump." A dull sound accompanied the chaotic scene of the bouquet falling and rose petals scattering everywhere.

Song Chi was thrown around in a daze, lying on the ground in a sorry state, his wrists throbbing with pain, and his whole body feeling like it was broken.

Xie Shiyan then slowly withdrew his hand, took out a snow-white handkerchief, and wiped his fingers that had just touched Song Chi with extreme disgust, as if they had been contaminated with some deadly germs.

He turned his head slightly and said coldly to Secretary Lin, who had appeared silently behind him, "Take care of it."

"Yes, Mr. Xie." Secretary Lin stepped forward expressionlessly and pulled out a pure black business card with gold foil stamping from an exquisite business card holder. The card was made of a special material, gleaming with a cold, hard luster in the sunlight. It had no extra patterns, only two sharp, regular script characters printed in the center—Xie's.

Secretary Lin squatted down, preparing to hand the business card to Song Chi, who was still groaning in pain on the ground.

Just a second before the business card was about to touch Song Chi's nose—

"Ring ring ring—"

A piercing, urgent cell phone ringtone, like a death knell, suddenly rang out from Song Chi's trouser pocket, which had fallen to the ground!

Startled by the ringing, Song Chi shuddered and struggled to pull out his cracked phone with his uninjured hand. The caller ID read: "Dad."

He had just shakily pressed the answer button, before he could even say "hello"—

On the other end of the phone, a furious and enraged roar, amplified countless times by a loudspeaker, instantly shattered the receiver and exploded in front of the bulletin board:

"Song Chi, you unfilial son! Who the hell have you messed with? The Xie family, the CEO of the Xie Group—his assistant called my office directly. If you want to die, don't drag your whole family down with you. You get back here right now. Kneel down and apologize to CEO Xie, or I'll break your legs!"

Everyone was stunned by the sudden, information-packed phone call. The Xie Group? President Xie? The top figure in S City who could turn the tide with a flick of his wrist, whose every move shook the entire business district?

Countless horrified gazes shifted from Song Chi, who lay on the ground ashen-faced and trembling like a leaf, to the terrifying man in front of him, who was slowly wiping his hands.

Xie Shiyan seemed not to have heard the hysterical phone call, and casually threw the used handkerchief into the trash can.

When he turned around, his gaze fell on Jiang Yining, who was clutching his clothes behind him, her face filled with innocence and lingering fear. The icy look in his eyes melted instantly, leaving only indulgent tenderness.
