Chapter 82 Two Years Later
Back in S City, a business wedding was to be held—an extravagant and meticulously planned event. The venue was a secluded island estate.
Under the moonlight, the pure white lilies of the valley and baby's breath created a dreamlike sea of flowers. The event was star-studded, with almost all the heavyweight figures from the business world of S City and even the whole country in attendance.
The wedding, with its understated luxury and the special status of the two protagonists, had already caused a sensation within the industry. However, a prominent sign stood at the entrance of the estate: "Private wedding, all media interviews and photography are not permitted."
This was Jiang Yining's only request. She only wanted to complete this sacred ceremony that belonged to her and Xie Shiyan in the presence of her family and true friends, and she did not want to be disturbed by the spotlight, much less become a gossip headline.
Xie Shiyan unconditionally supported her and used all his resources to ensure the absolute privacy of the wedding. To the strains of the melodious wedding march, Jiang's father, arm in arm with his daughter in a stunning custom-made wedding dress, walked step by step toward the groom waiting at the end of the red carpet.
Jiang Yining's gaze pierced through the sheer fabric and landed on Xie Shiyan. He was wearing a white tuxedo that matched her wedding dress, his posture upright, his eyes burning with passion and focus.
As they exchanged rings, Xie Shiyan whispered in her ear, his voice trembling slightly, "I can finally rightfully hold your hand and walk into our wedding hall, to declare to everyone that you, Jiang Yining, are my one and only wife in this life."
The vows were solemn, the kisses tender. Amidst the blessings and tears of a room full of business tycoons, they became husband and wife. After the grand wedding banquet, the clamor gradually subsided.
Xie Shiyan didn't linger for a moment. He took Jiang Yining, who was still wearing her wedding dress and had a blush of happiness on her face, and boarded his private jet.
"Two weddings, are you tired?" He held her close, looking at the dazzling starry sky outside the porthole.
Jiang Yining leaned against him, her fingers gently stroking the "sunshine" yellow diamond symbolizing eternity on her ring finger. She shook her head, her smile sweet and languid.
"I'm not tired. With you, I'm never tired, no matter where we go." She paused, looked up at him, her eyes sparkling with anticipation for their new journey. "Our honeymoon is starting?"
Xie Shiyan lowered his head and kissed the top of her head, his voice filled with endless doting and longing: "Yes, it begins. A journey that belongs only to the two of us, Ningning."
The plane pierced through the clouds, flying towards the sun-drenched distance, leaving all the noise and the past behind.
Time flies, and two years later, Jiang Yining had just returned home from a business trip. She practically collapsed onto the soft sofa in the living room. "Ah—I'm finally back. I'm exhausted. I've been flying around and translating everywhere. I feel like my bones are about to fall apart."
Xie Shiyan put down his luggage and walked straight to sit down next to her. His warm, large hands naturally landed on her tense shoulders and neck, massaging them with just the right amount of pressure. His deep voice was soothing: "You don't need to run around anymore, right? If you really can't take it, just quit, okay?"
He paused, his fingertips tracing her delicate collarbone, a hint of teasing in his voice, "Or... come to my company? Be my 'personal' translator?" He emphasized the last two words in a low, ambiguous tone.
Jiang Yining groaned comfortably as he massaged her, turned to her side, buried her face in his chest and rubbed against him, laughing softly, "Come on, your foreign language is much better than mine, why would I need to translate? Besides,"
She raised her bright eyes and said, "Weren't you, my 'academic genius,' the one who helped me solve several technical problems I encountered on this business trip?" Thinking of how he calmly and fluently exchanged professional terms with the other party's engineers in the video conference, she felt a sweet warmth in her heart.
"Mmm," Xie Shiyan lowered his head and planted a kiss on her smooth forehead.
"You said you'll be mainly doing interpreting in S City from now on? That's good, at least you won't have to fly around so much, and I can worry less about it."
Even so, a barely perceptible pang of heartache flickered in his eyes. Over the past two years, he had watched her give her all for this internship, juggling heavy academic workload and certification exams with a high-pressure work environment, often keeping her extremely busy.
And he could only silently protect her from behind. Countless times, as soon as she boarded a flight to another city, he would instruct his secretary, Lin, to adjust his schedule and quietly follow her.
Unbeknownst to her, he was working through the night on a mountain of documents by her hotel bedside. He was exhausted, but as long as he could protect her and see the light of dreams shining in her eyes, it was all worth it.
"Okay~" Jiang Yining hugged his neck and gave him a kiss. "Thank you for your hard work, Mr. Xie. You have to be busy with your career and be my 'guardian angel' at the same time." The kiss was like a lemon candy, instantly relieving all his fatigue. It was sweet with a refreshing sourness.
