Food Exhibition (Part 4)
Jiang Yichun shuddered and almost jumped up; she took a few steps back.
"Feifeifei! What are you doing here? Where is Lin Yan?" She was like a thief caught in the act, and her drunkenness had mostly subsided.
Yang Fei tilted her head, a smile playing on her lips: "Why can't I be here? It just so happens that we bumped into each other."
"And this is the baking area, so there are the most samples."
"As for Lin Yan, well, we had a fight."
"Huh?" Jiang Yichun's jaw almost dislocated.
Before she parted ways with the two men, they were still holding hands and hugging each other, like two inseparable pieces of chewing gum.
At that time, she felt like she was a pet elf raised by those two people.
She blurted out, "What's wrong? You two have a great relationship, don't you?"
"Oh, he kept nagging that I can't eat anymore, otherwise my performance won't look good on stage." Yang Fei rubbed her temples. "Is this guy out of his mind? I'm performing the day after tomorrow, eating a few more desserts won't make me fat."
“I don’t like him always controlling me, so I came to find you first.”
"I want him to apologize to me first. And our relationship..."
Yang Fei talked on and on, her tone calm and even, as if she were recounting a perfectly normal little thing.
As Jiang Yichun listened to her words, his attention shifted to the figures talking in the distance.
He Yinxin was moving her body step by step toward him, whether intentionally or unintentionally, it was unclear.
Jiang Yichun's heart raced, and the corners of his mouth twitched.
No, we can't let these two find out about each other, or things will turn into complete chaos.
I don't like drinking porridge.
"Oh, is that so? Okay then, Feifei, let's go shopping together first."
She grabbed Yang Fei's arm and tried to pull her away from the booth where He Yinxin was working.
Yang Fei made eye contact with He Yinxin, who was discussing work with her, before she could.
"Oh my god, Director He?"
He Yinxin was clearly engrossed in his work. His gaze swept over the two of them before returning to the woman beside him. He nodded, stroked his chin, and continued discussing something with the staff.
Jiang Yichun breathed a sigh of relief: "As you can see, Feifei, He Yinxin is working, let's not disturb him."
"Oh, really? Then Xiaochun—why are you holding this bread from this stall? Who gave it to you? It's hard to guess." Yang Fei squinted and chuckled.
"Feifei!" Jiang Yichun tossed the bread into her hand like it was trash.
"I... I just picked it up randomly, yes, that's right."
"It wasn't given to me by someone else."
Yang Fei laughed heartily: "Alright, I understand, Xiao Chun. I won't make a fuss anymore."
“Your special friend looks pretty busy, how about we go check out some other booths?”
Contrary to Jiang Yichun's plan to egg them on and make them get together, Yang Fei seemed to have truly taken Jiang Yichun's words from that night to heart. She tactfully defused the atmosphere that was about to escalate into a chaotic mess.
Jiang Yichun immediately strode down the steps she had offered, nodding vigorously: "Okay, let's go, let's go! I know a booth with really good beer, lots of bubbles!"
The two then walked hand in hand toward the Russian beer booth.
The person in charge of tasting was a bald middle-aged man with blue eyes. He spoke Chinese that wasn't very fluent, but he gave everyone who tried the drinks a hearty smile.
The two went upstairs, ordered two bottles of beer, and stood to the side, taking turns drinking them.
With the alcohol taking effect, Yang Fei put her hand on Jiang Yichun's shoulder and said, "Xiaochun, tell me, what's the deal with a man who keeps saying he loves you but sleeps with other girls?"
"What is that?"
Jiang Yichun moved closer to Yang Fei, who suspected that the thunderous explosion had caused her to experience tinnitus.
Yang Fei scratched her head and chuckled, "Alright, Xiao Chun, to be honest with you, body image isn't the real reason we argued."
"Actually, I saw Lin Yan's phone."
"When I was helping him check in to get a sausage from a stall, a message popped up on my screen."
"A girl."
"Ask him what their relationship was the night before last, was it a one-night stand?"
"Haha, I just asked him about the information directly, and he was quite honest."
He said he was just drunk.
Yang Fei's tone was light, like the foam rising on beer.
She tilted her head back and drank it in small sips.
Jiang Yichun bit her nails and muttered under her breath, "But isn't it said that when a man is drunk and not sober, that part of him won't..."
Yang Fei sighed and patted her head: "Xiao Chun, you... never mind, you're always like this, acting like a hooligan when you're drunk. The other day when Lao He brought you back, you said a lot of indecent things."
"ah?"
“What do you mean he’s inexperienced? A perverted senior? His chest is… um!” Before Yang Fei could finish speaking, Jiang Yichun blushed and physically interrupted her with his palm.
The memory of being invited out for drinks by Ham Bro that day and getting completely drunk was filled in by Yang Fei.
Jiang Yichun blinked: "Then He Yinxin... he doesn't know, right?"
Yang Fei nodded: "It's okay. When he was helping you, you were too busy cursing him as a jerk. Otherwise, I think he might have avoided you and wouldn't have given you bread."
Luckily, I only gave him a good scolding, otherwise I would really have been a scoundrel.
Jiang Yichun let out a long breath, but the memory of that forced kiss still haunted him like a ghost.
She touched her lips.
He forcibly kissed He Yinxin, but He still didn't avoid him and even gave him two large pieces of bread.
My apologies, my apologies, even though this person is still a big liar pretending to be a woman!
Jiang Yichun silently pondered this in his heart, but steered the conversation back aloud: "Then what should you do, Feifei?"
Yang Fei smiled and said, "Let him explain. Talk to him. If you can talk, then break up.
"Actually, I was only dating him for emotional value. As for true feelings, there wasn't much of that. As for the long term, we'll probably break up after graduation."
"But even so, his infidelity is unacceptable. It's not acceptable emotionally, nor is it acceptable sexually."
Jiang Yichun reached out and took her hand, saying nothing, only looking at her with those eyes.
Yang Fei gripped his hand tightly in return: "It's alright, Xiao Chun. After all, I've been traveling the world for many years..."
"Alright, Feifei, I believe you, and you don't need to force yourself... Let's go eat something else good to eat, okay? You'll have the energy to fight that scumbag!" Jiang Yichun interrupted Yang Fei's self-consolation and pulled her towards other booths.
Yang Fei gazed at Jiang Yichun's ponytail swaying behind her head, a slight smile playing on her lips:
"Okay, let's go!"
The two strolled past several booths, sometimes eating dried meat, sometimes watching a Turkish man sing at a high note while baking flatbread.
As we walked, the sun outside the venue rose to mid-sky; it was already noon.
Yang Fei let out a long sigh and stood still: "Xiao Chun, I won't accompany you shopping this afternoon, I have a performance tonight."
"I'll settle the score with that scumbag after my performance."
Jiang Yichun nodded, said goodbye to her, and remained in the venue.
Although the postgraduate recommendation process is approaching, I really find it hard to truly escape from all the pressure one day.
So she wanted to escape for a while, even if it was just for an afternoon.
Jiang Yichun patted his stomach and continued wandering around the venue.
Whether by coincidence or driven by her subconscious, she found herself walking back to that booth and seeing that familiar figure again.
After exchanging a few words with Manager An, He Yinxin took out a lunchbox, plopped down on a round stool, and began shoveling rice into the lunchbox.
He chewed with chopsticks, coughing occasionally, a few beads of sweat sliding down his forehead.
Jiang Yichun stood not far from him, secretly watching him eat.
Although Jiang Yichun did not look directly at him, he kept observing him out of the corner of his eye.
He Yinxin's face seemed...very pale, and her lips were chapped.
Is he too tired?
Meanwhile, He Yinxin, who was chewing on a pork chop, gradually came into view of her.
He smiled slightly, picked up a pork chop and stuffed it into his mouth, eating with even more gusto, but accidentally inhaled a few grains of rice and coughed softly.
After temporarily relieving himself of the burden of work, the fatigue and discomfort that had been suppressed within him surged up.
The lack of sleep throughout the day, irregular eating habits, and the rain that night all caused him to cough incessantly, and his temples felt sore.
But when she appeared before him in that light blue dress, all he wanted to do was eat a few more bowls of rice, just like she used to.
Eat, eat, and you'll have the energy to work.
He Yinxin ate with increasing gusto, even as her head inexplicably grew heavier and heavier.
Work, work, work to earn money so I can stay in Huaxing City with dignity.
To be able to truly possess freedom.
Seeing her was like seeing his own spring.
An easy spring.
"Hey, liar, aren't you afraid of choking on something so dry?" The blue skirt fluttered down in front of him like a butterfly.
Jiang Yichun picked up a bottle of electrolyzed water and placed it at his feet.
"This was a free gift from a Xiaohongshu check-in event. Here, have it. I'm really worried you'll choke, even though you're the kind of liar I hate the most." She turned her head away, trying to avoid eye contact with him.
He Yinxin said nothing, lowered her head, picked up the bottle of water, and drank it in large gulps.
Jiang Yichun glanced at him: "Drink slowly, don't choke. Don't choke to death instead of choking."
He Yinxin forced a smile, his face completely drained of color: "It's alright, Xiaochun, thank you, I..."
His vision was filled with dark, scattered stars, and his ears were filled with a tremendous roar.
He Yinxin's mind went blank. He instinctively grabbed a pillar and gasped for breath.
He buried his head between his legs, trying to relieve some of the dizziness.
Jiang Yichun turned around and saw him slumped against the pillar, her hand frozen in mid-air.
She immediately cast aside the jumbled thoughts in her mind and strode forward.
"Liar, what's wrong with you?" Ignoring the so-called safe distance, Jiang Yichun grabbed his shoulder.
He Yinxin forced a smile at her: "Xiaochun, it's okay, I... I'm fine."
"I'm just a little..."
Before he could finish speaking, he closed his eyes and leaned his whole body backward.
If Jiang Yichun hadn't grabbed him, he would have landed on the back of his head.
"Old He, Old He? Can you still hear me?" Jiang Yichun's eyes widened, and he subconsciously pressed the back of his hand against his forehead.
"hiss."
Her hand was burned by his body heat.
All those loves and hates were temporarily cleared away at this moment. Jiang Yichun pulled him into her arms and let him rest his head on her shoulder.
She had only one thought in her mind: call an ambulance.
As she pulled out her phone, she called out to Manager An, "Manager An, Xiao He, Xiao He has fainted!"
