Food Exhibition (Part Two)
As the weekend approached, Jiang Yichun, Yang Fei, and Lin Yan went to the food exhibition together.
The couple hugged and cuddled all the way, and Jiang Yichun followed behind them like their personal property.
As the crowd surged in, she gradually drifted further and further away from the two people.
Jiang Yichun lowered his head and sent a message to Yang Fei: 【Feifei, you go with Senior Lin, I'm going to shop by myself.】
Feifei: [Okay, then Xiaochun, enjoy your meal!]
After exchanging a few more polite words, Jiang Yichun turned off his phone and put it in his pocket.
She looked up and met a familiar back of a head.
There is a small mole on the back of the neck below the head.
The man was wearing a name tag, his hair was damp with sweat, and he was holding a large box. He was talking to a woman in a suit next to him.
He had a tall and straight posture, a relatively broad back, and wore short sleeves, revealing several muscle lines on his arms.
Jiang Yichun frowned and touched his chin: He Yinxin... it shouldn't be him, right? Does he have such a good figure?
As Jiang Yichun thought this, although he kept muttering to himself, "Why am I thinking about this swindler?" his body obediently followed the shadow.
Until he seemed to realize something and turned around.
Their eyes met at that moment.
Those familiar, clear almond-shaped eyes appeared in her own eyes through the lenses.
Amidst the surging crowd, the two gazed at each other across the throng, like two lighthouses shining their light on each other amidst rolling waves.
He Yinxin was wearing a white short-sleeved T-shirt today, with a low-cut neckline that revealed his collarbone.
A drop of sweat slid down his cheek, then dripped down his neck onto his collarbone.
That drop of sweat ignited a blush on Jiang Yichun's ears. She thought of the day she accidentally bumped into his chest in the school library and the night she leaned against his chest while drunk.
It seems... this person has always had a decent physique?
Is someone who looks slim in clothes but has a muscular physique when undressed?
The two stared at each other silently for two seconds before quickly avoiding each other's gaze.
He Yinxin's Adam's apple bobbed, she turned around and continued walking forward, continuing to talk to the people around her.
Jiang Yichun got excited and, ignoring the delicious aroma wafting from the side, strode over to follow.
She wanted to see what this conman was up to.
He Yinxin walked ahead, chatting with the manager in charge of her stall.
"Xiao He, could you help me move this box to the exhibition area later, and then count the number? Hopefully, we'll find some customers, sigh."
"After all, it was our first time organizing an exhibition, so we didn't have much experience."
The woman in the suit took out a pill from her pocket and swallowed it with her water glass.
He Yinxin nodded, a slight smile playing on her lips: "Yes. Manager An, don't worry, there will definitely be overseas clients coming to sign contracts."
"Okay, thank you, young man. But you can still call me Sister An from now on." Manager An smiled and smoothed her short hair behind her ear. "You've worked hard today too. I'll need you to do some tasting and gather user feedback later, as I have other clients to meet."
He Yinxin shook her head: "It's not hard work, it's what I should do, after all, it's my job."
"Sister An, you..."
"Okay, I'm going to get busy." Manager An waved his hand and ran towards another door.
He Yinxin watched her retreating figure and placed the box next to the display stand.
He raised his hand to wipe the sweat from his body and looked around.
The person who seemed familiar did not appear.
His lips twitched, and he had no choice but to continue working with his head down.
After being slapped by Jiang Yichun, He Yinxin also received a formal "severance agreement" from the adults.
They said they would have a new child and wouldn't need him anymore.
He Yinxin knew they were just gambling on her, but she still looked forward to their attention.
But he was no longer that child, and he readily accepted the agreement, just as he had unconditionally accepted all their expectations before.
He Yinxin's household registration was transferred to the school, and he plans to transfer it to his workplace after graduation.
He thought that he might have already gained his freedom.
But that's far from enough; freedom without a material foundation is just a utopian dream.
He needs part-time work and money to establish himself in Huaxing City.
He never wanted to go back to being the perfect child for adults; he just wanted to be free, just like he had told his sweetheart.
It's just not as easy as she made it out to be.
Xiaochun...
He looked up, and a familiar figure suddenly appeared before him.
Jiang Yichun, wearing a light blue dress and with two braids, stood not far from him.
She was half-hidden behind a pillar at the stall, holding a sample of a cake roll in her hand.
Her eyes were fixed on him.
"Well."
He Yinxin was taken aback, then quickly turned her head, squatted down, and continued to sort through the goods.
He felt like he was being followed.
He took the large bag of bread out of the bag, placed it on the table, and wiped his hands clean with a wet wipe.
He took out a knife, cut a piece of bread into several small pieces, and placed them on a plate.
"Hello, may I try some?"
A faint scent of roses wafted into his nose.
He Yinxin's skin, which had finally cooled down, became hot again, and he saw her light blue skirt swaying in front of him.
He looked up and finally met her gaze.
"Liar? What do you mean I'm seeing you here again?" Jiang Yichun glared at him.
He didn't care what she called him at all; a smile unconsciously crept onto his lips, and without thinking, he said, "I'm doing a part-time job, Xiaochun."
"I want to make money."
"Making money? Why? I think you're very rich, you liar." Jiang Yichun stared at him, his voice trembling.
He Yinxin lowered her eyes: "You probably already knew that day, about my parents..."
"They started using alternate accounts, and I'm free now."
"I have to earn my own living expenses and tuition fees, and I plan to do an internship in my second year of graduate school."
"I want to stay in Huaxing City."
As he spoke, he placed the sliced bread into a plate and inserted toothpicks.
Jiang Yichun's fingertips twitched, and a light appeared in her otherwise emotionless eyes.
He Yinxin pushed the plate toward her: "Eat up, Xiaochun. I'm just stating the facts, not asking for your sympathy."
“I also have a professor helping me. He has been guiding me on projects, and I also have a scholarship of five hundred a month…”
"Who wants to pity you? You're overthinking it. I hate you too much." Jiang Yichun sniffed and grabbed a piece of bread with a skewer stuck in it.
He Yinxin lowered her head: "Hmm. It's fine if you hate me."
"Bang!"
Jiang Yichun placed a bottle of water on his table.
She muttered to herself, "Qiao Maizi is absolutely right, you really are a green tea guy. Saying that makes people feel even more sorry for you."
"I bought this water for you. You looked so tired from running around."
Her gaze lingered on him: "Well, I'm just worried you'll overwork yourself. You've sweated so much, your clothes are all soaked."
He Yinxin lowered her eyes, picked up the bottle of water on the table, and replied softly, "Thank you, Xiaochun."
He unscrewed the bottle cap and gulped down the water.
Jiang Yichun's gaze fell on his bobbing Adam's apple. She remembered the clothes he wore that night, and the tear stains on them.
She lowered her head, picked up another piece of bread, and put it in her mouth to chew.
"Xiaochun, how's this bread? Is it delicious?" He Yinxin took a deep breath and spoke to her again.
Jiang Yichun chewed on the bread in his mouth and nodded.
He Yinxin's smile widened, and his hands moved even faster, cutting the taro toast into more than a dozen slices in one go: "Eat more if you like... I mean you can help promote our stall, no... I mean you just enjoy the food."
"Do you want me to enjoy the food or promote your stall? Can you give me an answer?"
“I… want to do both. Because the manager I work for is exhibiting for the first time and is extremely nervous, so I want to do more work to help her promote the exhibition.”
Jiang Yichun raised an eyebrow, looked at his white T-shirt that was soaked through with sweat, and smiled wickedly: "Oh, liar, I just saw how they attract customers at a barbecue stand. There was a really long line over there."
"What?" He Yinxin looked up, her eyes lighting up.
"They hired two muscular guys, shirtless with just aprons over their clothes, to grill sausages at their spots," Jiang Yichun laughed. "My god, their abs, pecs, and biceps were incredibly well-developed! The line was ridiculously long!"
"Hey liar, I think you have a pretty good figure. You could try selling your body. Like like this, and then stick your clothes on your body."
"There will definitely be a lot of people coming to watch you cut bread."
He kindly asked for advice, but she was lusting after his body?
He Yinxin's face turned pale, and the scene of Jiang Yichun grabbing his collar and kissing him on repeat in his mind that day kept replaying.
What is Xiaochun thinking about all day long?
His mind then jumped to the idea of finding out what novels she was reading online.
Well, it seems like that's the kind of person she is.
"Jiang Yichun! You...you didn't drink today, did you?"
He Yinxin's ears turned bright red.
Jiang Yichun touched his lips and drawled, "Oh no, I think I really did have a sample of Russian beer at a beer stand just now."
"Xiaochun, you...you mustn't do anything reckless." He Yinxin suddenly realized and took a step back.
He had already witnessed Jiang Yichun's terrible drinking habits.
Jiang Yichun when drunk and Jiang Yichun in a rage are both at the same danger level.
Jiang Yichun chuckled and propped her elbow on the table, blinking at him. "I won't do anything reckless, after all, this is a public place. Besides, I only had a few sips of beer."
"But you look... kind of cute."
"Alright, then I'll offer another option: you wear a suit and gold-rimmed glasses, just like those domineering CEOs on online live streams, and you cut bread while reciting CEO quotes?"
Jiang Yichun jumped back and started gesturing with his hands: "Come here, sit down!"
He Yinxin frowned as she watched her performance, her hand still cutting bread: "Xiaochun, besides making me sacrifice my looks, don't you have any other methods?"
Jiang Yichun scratched his head, pursed his lips, and held up his index finger: "Oh, yes, yes, definitely, just like Grandma Tian Fang's barbecue stall. I'll help you promote it?"
He Yinxin frowned even more. He thought of the phrase "so delicious that even a dead person next to you wouldn't know it," and hurriedly raised his hand to stop him, but his hand was still a step slower than Jiang Yichun's leg.
Jiang Yichun carried the stack of plates and walked towards two foreigners in suits. She spoke to them in English, and they followed her to the stall.
