Sweet nothings (Part 1)

Sweet nothings (Part 1)

Summer days in the deep valleys of Jiangnan are always hot, and cicadas chirp incessantly outside the window.

Jiang Yichun rushed upstairs in a panic, slammed the door shut, and slid down against the door.

She found that even though she and He Yinxin had signed a "pre-relationship" agreement, she still felt at a loss when their relationship was exposed to others.

So she chose her comfort zone—escaping.

She buried her head in her knees, her mind filled with memories of the past few days with He Yinxin.

Hugs and kisses, all sticky and affectionate on the high-speed train, and almost kissing at the old lady's doorstep... twice.

Jiang Yichun felt her cheeks burning redder and redder. She rubbed her burning cheeks and then lay down on the small bed.

After being with He Yinxin, she always felt that she was no longer the person she used to be.

Isn't this getting a little too cloying?

She recalled a passage she had read by chance in a psychology book: a person's traumatic reaction is always recurring and cannot be completely cured by a single event.

And now, perhaps I am also going through that repeated healing process?

Jiang Yichun pulled up the corner of the blanket, took out the remote control, and turned on the air conditioner.

"Knock knock knock".

A knocking sound came from the door.

"Xiaochun? Are you alright?"

He Yinxin's gentle voice came through the door, mixed with a few dog barks.

Potatoes and potatoes?

How did He Yinxin become so familiar with these two dogs so quickly?

Jiang Yichun frowned, got out of bed, and walked to the door: "He Yinxin, what are you doing? Why did you bring Potato and Potato II up here?"

“I…I’m worried about you.” His voice, tinged with a hint of grievance, came from the doorway. “Grandma Jianfang made mung bean soup to cool you down. She asked me to bring it up and ask if you want some.”

"Mung bean soup?" Jiang Yichun's eyes lit up, and he immediately opened the door.

The two dogs immediately slipped into her room through the crack in the door, leaving only the person standing at the door with a bowl of mung bean soup.

Potato and Potato II wagged their tails at her legs. Jiang Yichun squatted down, patted the two dogs' heads, and then looked up at the robot dog in front of her.

He Yinxin looked down at her, his lips trembling, and he squatted down as well: "Xiaochun, are you angry with me?"

Jiang Yichun shuddered and shook his head: "No, no, I just, I often do this. It's just... uh, maybe I'm still not used to the fact that we're dating."

"I know it was my fault. You, Lao He, don't be too angry."

He Yinxin didn't answer her, but handed her the bowl of mung bean soup, then bent down to pat Potato's head, and then hugged Potato II into her arms, stroking it gently.

Jiang Yichun stood up and casually placed the mung bean soup on her table.

He Yinxin still didn't speak to her, he just stood at the door, his eyes obscured by his glasses.

Jiang Yichun felt a little scared; she seemed to have never seen her good-natured "potential boyfriend" like this before.

She gulped down a mouthful of mung bean soup, then turned to look at him: "Old He? What's wrong? Are you really angry?"

He Yinxin shook her head, put Potato II on the floor, and looked at her: "Xiaochun, can I come into your room?"

"Let's talk."

Jiang Yichun pouted, the stubborn mule in his heart awakening again: "It's just coming into my room, of course you can, come, come, sit down."

She pushed He Yinxin by the back and slammed the door shut, keeping the two dogs out.

With a gentle push, He Yinxin plopped down on the edge of her small bed. His face flushed slightly, and he immediately jumped up from the bed.

He patted his trouser legs and stood at the foot of the bed: "Xiao Chun, I haven't changed my clothes yet, I'll get your bed dirty, even though research shows that wearing clothes..."

"You've already dirtied me, and you're still worried about dirtying my bed?"

He Yinxin's face flushed red instantly: "Jiang Yichun! Can you please stop talking like that?"

“I…” Jiang Yichun angrily picked up the mung bean soup on the table and took a big gulp.

"But that's the truth. Can you honestly say you don't want to do that kind of thing with me?"

He Yinxin lowered her head, took off her glasses, and her lips trembled incessantly.

"Yes. I'm thinking about it. But it all depends on whether you're willing."

"You also mentioned further contact in the contract. It depends on whether you agree or not. I will definitely fulfill the contract."

"But isn't the punishment for your breach of contract also..."

He Yinxin's words caught Jiang Yichun off guard. Her heart pounded, and strange images began to flash through her mind.

She plopped down in a chair, legs spread, and looked at him: "Ah, okay, okay, let's not talk about this anymore! He Yixin, what exactly do you want to ask me?"

He Yinxin wasn't wearing his glasses, and his almond-shaped eyes met hers directly: "Xiaochun, does our contract stipulate that couples can't hide anything from each other?"

Yes, yes.

"So, can you tell me... what do you mean by 'just so-so'? Also, when Grandma Jianfang said your mother was in a relationship, you seemed unhappy."

His body gradually moved closer to her, and a familiar scent of kapok blossoms wafted towards her.

"I like it so-so... I just... I like it so-so. I..."

Before Jiang Yichun could finish speaking, a pair of hands completely trapped her between the table and chair.

The bowl on the table shook, making a soft "ding-dong" sound.

"But I like you very much."

"Do you really just like... me in a casual way?"

He stared at her, pulled her into his arms, and a strange emotion welled up in his almond-shaped eyes, an emotion that instantly enveloped her.

Jiang Yichun stood frozen in place, meeting He Yinxin's gaze, whose eyes were slightly red.

Is this silly robot dog feeling insecure again?

How can we get him to settle down again?

Her mind was a jumbled mess, and in the end, all she could manage to say was, "Fool!"

"I...I hate you, okay?"

He Yinxin frowned and sighed: "According to my research, when you're angry, you like me to do some outrageous things to you."

Sometimes I think your quirks are... kind of weird.

"Xiaochun, do you want me to kiss you forcefully?"

"What?! He Yinxin, you, you, you mustn't do this!" Jiang Yichun pushed He Yinxin away, his cheeks flushed. "I never said you could forcefully kiss me! I only allowed it last time because you seemed so down."

"And the forced kiss they're asking for isn't even a forced kiss!"

"Also, regarding 'just so-so'... I actually think it's the one I like the most."

He Yinxin stood up, a slight smile playing on her lips. He nodded and took her hand in his.

"So that's how it is."

"Hmm. And, well, I think we should be more restrained and not always be hanging around outside. People in the village are very gossipy. My grandma is the kind of person who's quite gossipy."

“I don’t want to be talked about by others all the time…like my mother.”

Jiang Yichun lowered his head, shaking the two hands that were clasped together.

She swayed and swayed, and somehow ended up in He Yinxin's arms again. By the time she realized it, He Yinxin was already sitting in front of her, and she was straddling his lap.

“Xiaochun, you…” He Yinxin froze on the spot, but his hand honestly climbed up her back.

Jiang Yichun lowered her eyes and leaned closer to him: "We're in the room now, so no one can see us, right?"

Let's continue what we didn't finish at noon today.

She stammered, "Give me a... a kiss, doggy?"

He Yinxin pursed her lips, her eyes gradually brightening.

He nodded gently, tilted his chin up, and pressed his lips to hers.

He held the back of her head with both hands, trapping her between the table and chair once again.

Jiang Yichun responded to his light kiss, her fingers caressing his chest.

Her hand gradually moved from his chest to the back of his head, gently rubbing the small mole on the back of his neck.

That "kiss mark from a past life" was now surrounded by a ring of real kiss marks—the ones she had casually left on his neck a few days ago.

She instinctively embraced the storm he unleashed, lifting her chin and gently letting her tongue linger between his lips.

His hands, which were gently supporting the back of her head, slid down to linger on her waist, pinching her soft flesh.

Jiang Yichun gave a soft hum and pulled him even tighter.

He Yinxin seemed to be obsessed with that soft spot, his fingertips constantly caressing, kneading, and flicking her waist.

His kisses gradually escalated from initial probing to plundering.

He seized every chance she had to catch her breath, swallowing each of her breaths, melting all her fear and uncertainty into their kiss.

Two dogs outside the door occasionally barked and gently tapped on the door with their paws.

Inside the door, the two exchanged kisses, their breaths barely audible.

Jiang Yichun's back bumped against the edge of the table, causing the unfinished mung bean soup in her bowl to slosh around, spilling a few drops that wet the snow-white tablecloth she had laid out.

He Yinxin raised her hand and gently rubbed the spot where she had bumped her head on the table. Between kisses, she whispered, "Baby, are you alright?"

"Hmm, it's okay, um." Jiang Yichun grabbed his T-shirt collar and sealed his lips with hers again.

Jiang Yichun casually loosened her tied-up hair, and a faint rose scent gradually spread out, intertwining with the cotton scent of the boy in front of her. The two were intoxicated by each other's fragrance.

Her hair would occasionally brush against his cheek, and his fingertips would always run through the ends of her hair.

It wasn't until He Yinxin trembled as she released Jiang Yichun that he looked up at the girl in front of him, his cheeks flushed and his eyes glazed over.

His chest heaved violently, and he simply slumped his head onto her shoulder: "Baby... I can't breathe."

Jiang Yichun gently stroked the back of his head, his black hair cascading down his back. "Hmm, I... I'm a little bit too..."

Perhaps because it was their first love, the two kissed each other without restraint, like two little animals exploring each other's depths.

After each kiss, the two would be panting heavily, gently stroking each other's hair or back for comfort.

Her stroking motion faltered, then her cheeks flushed red, and she gently kicked his calf with her weak leg: "Your belt is digging into me again!"

He Yinxin didn't look up, but simply hugged her tighter: "Okay, I won't wear it next time. Baby, you're acting strange too, aren't you..."

Jiang Yichun realized that she wasn't dressed warmly, only in a thin dress, and immediately covered his mouth:

"Don't tell! It's...it's the mung bean soup that spilled!"

He Yinxin chuckled softly, "Alright, alright, it was the mung bean soup that spilled. Xiaochun, can I drink the mung bean soup?"

Jiang Yichun's face turned even redder. She turned around and grabbed the half-finished bowl of mung bean soup from the table, shoving it into his hand: "Go find my grandma! Or drink what I left! He Yinxin, why are you suddenly like this..."

"I learned it from you." He took the bowl of mung bean soup and drank it all in one gulp.

"Ugh, disgusting."

Jiang Yichun slowly climbed off him. Her legs were a little weak, and she could only support herself on the edge of the table to avoid sliding down to her knees.

A pair of hands wrapped around her waist and pulled her into the fragrant embrace of the kapok tree.

She looked up at the boy beside her, who was also looking down at her.

"Okay, baby, let's go downstairs and eat watermelon. Grandma has cut it up."

"Hmph, you don't need to tell me."

Jiang Yichun grabbed his hand, opened the door, and rushed downstairs with the man and the two dogs.

She had a blush and a smile on her face until she got downstairs.

"Hey, Xiao Yichun?"

"Oh, Jiang Jianan is back?"

Several familiar figures stood at her doorstep, and those familiar eyes reappeared before her.
