Let go
"Ring ring." A series of ringtones sounded.
Song Huan groggily opened her eyes and answered the phone.
"Huanhuan, how are you? Are you sober now?" Xu Han asked a barrage of questions as soon as she answered the phone, giving Song Huan a headache.
"Nothing's wrong with me, I was just drunk." Song Huan put her phone aside and started changing her clothes. "I just had some dreams."
"Hurry up and go to work, stop being so emotional." Xu Han's words reminded Song Huan, who glanced at her watch; it was already 7:30.
After changing her clothes and washing up, Song Huan grabbed a bag of bread, put on her shoes, and went out.
The morning sunlight bathed the streets in dappled patterns. The ginkgo trees swayed gently, their green leaves falling onto the sunlight, creating a beautiful scene.
Song Huan walked to the company with the "clack-clack" of her high heels.
Fortunately, she rented a house not far from the company, unlike her colleagues who lived at the company, so she could sleep in much longer every day.
A woman brushed past Song Huan.
"Song Huan?"
Song Huan stopped and turned to look at the woman.
The woman was beautiful; her delicate features paired with long, wavy hair gave her a sophisticated air.
"May I ask who you are?"
"Jiang Rou."
Hearing that name again seven years later, Song Huan couldn't help but recall the woman who called her "little sister."
Their relationship is a bit complicated now. Are they friends, or... rivals?
Song Huan had no time to think, so she simply hummed in agreement and turned to leave.
"Come to my wedding with him."
"What?" Song Huan turned her head.
"Attending the wedding." Jiang Rou stepped forward, took an invitation out of her bag, and handed it to her.
Song Huan paused for two seconds, thought about it, and then accepted it.
I glanced at it and found an address.
Venue: Xuqiu No.1 Middle School.
Song Huan's former alma mater.
However, she didn't quite understand why Lin Xing had chosen Xuqiu No. 1 Middle School as the venue for the wedding.
Lin Xing only studied there for half a year, and Song Huan only knew him for half a year.
Logically speaking, there's nothing here that he should miss...
The phone screen lit up, showing the time as 7:50.
Song Huan put away the invitation and hurried to the company.
"Huanhuan, you've finally arrived," Xu Han said, making coffee.
"Why are you drinking coffee so early in the morning? Get to work, the manager will be here soon." Song Huan walked to her workstation and tossed a sentence to Xu Han.
Xu Han carried the coffee to the seat next to Song Huan: "I'm just afraid of falling asleep and getting caught by the manager."
Song Huan ignored Xu Han and continued typing on the keyboard.
Less than half an hour later, Xu Hao leaned close to him again and said, "Huanhuan, I received an invitation this morning. It's for Lin Xing's wedding. Did you receive one?"
Song Huan stopped typing: "I have one too, Jiang Rou gave it to me."
"Jiang Rou, is she Lin Xing's soon-to-be wife?" Xu Han took a sip of coffee. "You two know each other?"
"We've only met a few times," Song Huan said casually.
Xu Han said "oh" and was about to go back when she remembered something: "Huanhuan, haven't you forgotten him yet?"
Song Huan's body trembled: "What?"
"You haven't forgotten Lin Xing, have you?"
Song Huan suppressed her emotions and smiled, "I've long forgotten."
“Back then, you kept calling out ‘Ah Xing’ in my car.” Xu Han stared into Song Huan’s eyes.
Song Huan immediately retorted, "That's drunken talk, don't believe it."
But after a long pause, she said in a low, hoarse voice, "No, I haven't let it go yet."
Xu Han listened but didn't know how to comfort him.
Seven years have passed, countless days and nights have gone by, and Song Huan has not been able to escape that summer; her heart still rests on that boy.
