Chapter 107: Beggars Sitting on the Altar

The beggar thought of this and was about to open his mouth to remind the rich man who was about to leave, but he quickly closed his mouth the next second, as if he remembered the repeated warnings from the God of Qingcao Lake to him: Don't speak, otherwise you will be exposed and might bring about a bloody disaster.

As a result, the beggar calmed down and no longer tried to call the rich man in a hurry to remind him that his money was lost.

Soon, after the middle-aged man left, a poor man in tattered clothes walked in front of the statue.

His clothes were full of holes, especially his two pairs of straw sandals, which had long turned black, with two big holes showing at the toes, looking very shabby.

The poor man fell to his knees on the mat, weeping bitterly: "Great God, please give me some money to save my life. My wife is seriously ill and urgently needs to see a doctor and get medicine. But I am penniless and cannot afford a doctor. My wife's illness has been delayed and is getting worse. If I don't call a doctor to come and get medicine, I can only watch her die... Please have mercy on us and save our family!"

The poor man burst into tears and choked several times, unable to control his emotions.

After pouring out his heart and praying for a while, he kowtowed unwillingly and stood up. Suddenly he was stunned, and then his eyes lit up. He didn't expect that there were several golden beads not far from the cushion!

Oh my God!

The God of Qingcao Lake really appeared!

My wife is saved!

The man quickly picked up the gold beads on the ground, breathing rapidly, his blood boiling with excitement. He looked around, fearing that someone would be jealous and want to do something bad.

Fortunately, no one came in from around here, and no one saw his strange behavior and the golden beads clenched into a fist in his hand.

The poor man knelt on the mat to express his gratitude, and kowtowed so hard that marks appeared on his forehead, but he did not stop.

"The Great God appears! The Great God appears!"

"You are so kind and compassionate. If I have the chance in the future, I will definitely create another golden statue for you, the great god!"

After he knelt down several times to express his gratitude to the statue, he hurriedly took the golden beads and left the Taoist temple.

The beggar was facing the poor man the whole time, but his heart was like countless monkeys scratching their heads and unable to control himself. He really wanted to tell the man that it was not a miracle from some great god, and those golden beads were actually the lost property of the rich man before him.

But he forced himself to hold back the words when they came to his lips. After all, the Great God of Qingcao Lake had told him not to speak, and he could not go against the will of a true Great God.

Before the poor man could even leave, a fisherman came rushing in. He was wearing a bamboo hat and reeked of fish. He knelt on the ground and prayed to the statue: "God, please grant me peace, a smooth sea, and a safe return home."

Zhang Ling saw this situation clearly, and he also saw that the rich man who had left originally turned back again and just passed by the poor man.

Zhang Ling suddenly sensed something and after counting with his fingers, he realized that the rich man, the fisherman and the poor man would all suffer bloody disasters, but the degree of the disasters would vary, and the time when the disasters came would also be faster or slower.

"Give me back my golden beads!"

Soon, there was a noise in the Taoist temple. The rich man grabbed the fisherman by the collar and questioned him, claiming that the fisherman must have taken away his property that he had just lost there.

The fisherman was bewildered and felt puzzled. He didn't know how he had provoked this ferocious rich man in front of him. The other party even slandered him for returning the lost money. This was simply an insult. Being slandered like this in front of the God of Qingcao Lake was intolerable.

The fisherman shouted, "I didn't even see the gold bead you mentioned, let alone pick it up and hide it for myself. You are slandering me!"

The rich man sneered and said, "You poor fisherman, seeing a priceless golden bead, of course you would hide it. I'm used to seeing poor people like you lying without blinking an eye and hiding your true intentions. These tricks are useless to me. Don't think that people like me, who are noble and wealthy, are fools that poor people like you can laugh at behind our backs. In terms of wisdom, you are far inferior to me. In terms of shrewdness and cleverness, you are even more far behind me!"

"But I always do things fairly. I'll have my servants search you. If you really didn't take the gold beads, I'm willing to compensate you!"

The fisherman frowned, refusing to accept the other party's offer of a body search or compensation. He cursed, "Whoever takes your gold beads will give birth to a son without a buttocks..."

Seeing that the other party was not moved by his persuasion, the rich man winked at his servants and said, "If you insist on doing this, don't blame me for being rude to you!"

The rich man was furious. He had no children and had always wanted a son. Now this poor fisherman was mocking and being sarcastic in front of him. How could he tolerate this?

He immediately waved his hands and asked his servants to search the fisherman. If the other party did not cooperate, he would be suppressed by force!

The fisherman, however, was not one to be bullied. He was used to the freedom of the sea and had seen all sorts of storms and waves. He immediately engaged in a fight with these people. Although he was outnumbered and at a disadvantage, he was still able to cause considerable trouble to the other side.

The beggar on the statue was fidgeting, feeling as if he were sitting on pins and needles. He knew that the rich man believed that the fisherman had picked up the golden beads, and the fisherman felt wronged and could not tolerate it. This was a real misunderstanding.

The beggar couldn't bear it any longer and shouted, "Stop!"

The statue began to speak, and everyone was so shocked that they stopped what they were doing and looked at each other in amazement.

The statue really spoke just now!

So the rich man, the fisherman and some of his servants knelt on the ground, apology in fear, fearing that their actions had offended the gods and brought about some bad disaster.
