Chapter 124: Pilgrimage

When Buxiu saw the paper-cut in the little wild boar demon's hand, he felt at ease and understood everything. It seemed that it was indeed the divine guide who came here. He still remembered the paper-cut clearly, so there was no doubt about it!

Before Zhang Ling left, he hoped that Buxiu could stick to his heart of Taoism, do good deeds and cultivate himself, believe that God has the virtue of loving life, uphold that pure and spotless heart of Taoism, and not be like those fake Taoist priests in the world who only care about immediate interests and do things that are harmful to the world.

To this day, Buxiu has been practicing and adhering to Zhang Ling's warnings. Four hundred years have passed, and although he has already reached the level of a terrestrial immortal, he has never ascended to heaven. Instead, he chose to stay in the human world and guard this area at Zhengyi Temple.

Unxiu looked at the other party with kind eyes, which made these benevolent monsters feel a little relieved.

Soon, the little wild boar demon and the monsters behind him were invited to the Taoist temple. There were no mortals from the foot of the mountain in the temple because the mountain god had informed Buxiu of this matter early on, leaving them enough time to clear the place and stop the visits of believers.

There are three purposes for clearing the area.

One reason is to show respect to these monsters who have come here from afar to do good deeds.

The second is to prevent the mortals living at the foot of the mountain from being frightened to death or causing unnecessary trouble when they suddenly see these monsters in the Taoist temple.

Thirdly, these monsters were guided by the young man in blue after all, so they had to be properly dealt with in every detail.

A group of monsters were brought by Buxiu to the pilgrimage hall of Zhengyi Temple.

The hall is spacious and magnificent, with white marble paving the floor. There are two statues of gods in the front center. One is in the middle, facing the hall door, and the other is to the lower left of the previous statue, like some kind of guardian deity.

The statue in the center looks like a young man, like a banished immortal, lifelike.

In his left hand he held a talisman, and in his right hand he held a three-foot-tall green peak. It was exquisitely crafted, like a work of nature, like a work of magic.

He was dressed in a green-dyed, ink-splashed garment, looking holy and otherworldly. His long hair, dotted with ink-dyed colors, flowed like a waterfall. He was graceful, yet his back was straight, his eyes slightly closed, and he was as still as a mountain.

This statue is worshipped by Zhengyi Temple as the ancestor of the righteous god. Its status is transcendent and it inspires awe.

The guardian deity standing sideways on the lower left is a yellow-turbaned warrior with a ruby complexion, a long beard, a face as sharp as a knife and an axe, a tough and resolute face, his feet on the clouds, and a cold brow.

His whole body is plump and well-proportioned, with muscular muscles. The lines of each muscle are clearly visible, as if containing tremendous strength, just like a work of art that is ingenious and exquisitely carved.

A halberd stood beside him, majestic and powerful, its lacquered gold body shining and glittering like gold.

The two statues were so realistically crafted and lifelike, as if they had come alive, which made the little wild boar demon and the other monsters so grateful that they knelt down and kowtowed on the spot.

Immediately, the paper-cut in the little wild boar demon's hand floated in everyone's sight, flew out of the hall, and escaped towards the clouds in the sky, disappearing without a trace.

"Master, that paper-cut flew away!"

A disciple said respectfully on the side.

Bu Xiu nodded, looking up at the paper-cut speckled shadows in the clouds: "The Immortal Master will come back..."

All the disciples of Zhengyi Temple knew what Master Buxiu meant. These monsters who did good deeds were guided by that sacred being, and they would definitely come back later to see how these monsters were settled.

However, this also gave these disciples a headache. After all, Zhengyi Temple was a well-known Taoist temple in the mortal world. If these monsters were really taken in, what would happen to the worshippers who came to visit? They would probably be scared and run away, thinking that Zhengyi Temple had been taken over by some demon and turned into a Taoist temple full of monsters.

Without cultivating his mind like a mirror, he immediately accepted a group of monsters into Zhengyi Temple as the founder. From then on, they were considered the alternative disciples of Zhengyi Temple. In addition, he marked out a mountain with a depth of thousands of feet in the back mountain of Zhengyi Temple as a place for these benevolent monsters to practice.

When these monsters can truly transform into human form and do good deeds, that is when they will truly show themselves to the outside world in the Taoist temple. This will provide a place for these monsters to practice in peace and at the same time will not scare the mortals who come to visit and cause unnecessary trouble.

The disciple-taking ceremony went very smoothly. When the little wild boar demon, the vulture demon, the goat demon and a group of monsters put on Taoist robes, they were all excited. They never thought that one day they would be accepted as disciples by the immortal Taoist temple. This was something they could not even imagine in their dreams before!

When the disciple-taking ceremony was about to end, a woman walked into the hall. She was wearing a dark yellow Bagua robe, with willow eyebrows, almond eyes, a cherry mouth, skin as white as snow, long and slender legs, and a cold and arrogant temperament.

The waves are raging, the mountains are gathering, and the three thousand black hairs are tied up high with a jade hairpin across them, making her look heroic, luxurious and graceful, and also with a unique charm.

"Greetings to Grandmaster Qingshuang!"

Upon seeing this, all the disciples hurriedly bowed and greeted him.

Buxiu also called her "Senior Sister Qingshuang" with a kind face, as if she were a junior.

After all, the person he feared most in his childhood was Senior Sister Qingshuang in front of him. Even though four hundred years have passed and he has become the master of the Taoist temple and a famous heavenly master in the world, he still dares not disobey this senior sister.

"Is he back?"

Qingshuang glanced at those strange-looking monsters, and then looked straight at Buxiu, as if hoping to hear some answers she wanted from the other party.

Bu Xiu sighed and shook his head: "The Immortal Venerable did not come in person this time."

As soon as these words came out, Qingshuang's eyes dimmed and she was extremely disappointed.
