Chapter 13: Jinba's Tribulation

Zhang Ling's spiritual consciousness soared into the sky and scanned the entire picture of Qingyun Town.

If there was a demon causing trouble, he, as the local mountain god, would have sensed it long ago and would not have been kept in the dark. He could only say that this immortal turtle must have a great origin and was not an ordinary demon.

This matter should be considered in the long term.

"But fortunately, the mountain god appeared just now, and Qingyun Town may be saved!"

Hearing Old Man Liu's words, Zhang Ling immediately withdrew his mind and asked, "Have you ever asked the mountain god for help?"

"Of course, but the mountain god seems to be asleep and there is no response!"

"What about the land in this town? Have you asked for help?"

"Qingyun Town is located in the heart of Jieyang Mountain. It's considered the mountain god's backyard, but I've never heard of a local god here."

Hearing this, Zhang Ling's face turned red. He originally thought that it was the mountain god's duty to prevent the evil spirits from causing trouble, and he could spend the rest of the time as he pleased. Now it seems that the god guarding a place has a lot to consider.

It turns out that I have been slacking off for the past hundred years.

Zhang Ling took out a thumb-sized gold nugget from his sleeve, placed it on the table, and said goodbye to the old man.

"Sir, this is too valuable!" Old man Liu behind him chased out with the gold nugget and wanted to return it to Zhang Ling, but the next second he found himself sitting in the bun shop again.

The old man looked at the back of the young man outside the street, then looked at the gold nugget in his hand, and couldn't help falling into long contemplation.

Zhang Ling left the bun shop and strolled alone on the bluestone road in the town, fanning himself. He found that every household was making fires and cooking, with smoke rising from the kitchen as they prepared food to offer to the mountain god. A faint scent of incense gathered towards him.

"Lord Mountain God, please bless Qingyun Town with outstanding people and beautiful scenery, and let it repeat its past!"

"Master Mountain God, my wife ran away with someone and keeps saying that any children born here will be idiots. Please, old man, help me!"

"Master Mountain God, I am now twenty-five years old and still single. There are few women in this town, and people from other towns avoid this place. Please be merciful and help me find a wife..."

In a hazy state, I could hear the various requests for help from mortals.

Zhang Ling understood everything instantly. He knew the family, surname, name, life events, wishes, etc. He knew everything like the back of his hand.

"The story of the mortal world begins in Qingyun Town!"

Zhang Ling walked to the riverside, which was the "Fairy Turtle River" mentioned by Old Man Liu.

Take a ladle of river water, put it in your saliva and taste it gently, smacking your lips. It smells a bit smelly, but you can vaguely sense a faint spiritual charm.

This smell is very familiar, it is the power of immortality!

Just as expected, this turtle is not a monster and has a great history.

Zhang Ling waved his fan, and a straw mat appeared, which he spread out on the river bank. He lay on his side, resting his head on the fan, closed his eyes, and fell into a leisurely sleep.

The scenery here is unique, and it is a good opportunity to experience the feeling of a sleeping fairy turtle.

At night, the moon rises above the willow branches.

A few dog barks were heard in the town, and every household had turned off the lights and gone to sleep.

I vaguely heard a babyish voice coming from someone's house: "Mom, the adults say I'm a fool. Is that true?"

"Dog, don't listen to their nonsense, you are the smartest here!"

"They also said Erdan, Dahu, and Tieniu, saying that all the little kids in town are fools."

"That's all a lie. Everyone in our town is a descendant of the God of Literature."

"Mother, what does it mean that Wenquxing has descended to the world?"

"This Wenquxing is a deity in heaven..."

The child fell asleep amidst the patient, softly whispered stories. Perhaps in his dreams, no one would call him a fool anymore, but he would become a scholar who splashed ink and spoke eloquently...

Woo woo woo, there was a sobbing sound. She tried her best to suppress the voice for fear of waking the baby from his sweet dream. It was not easy to be a mother, but she could not help her own child at all. She could only shed tears, desperate and helpless.

"Dad, why didn't Duoduo and her family come back after they moved away?"

The sound of a baby mumbling came from another house.

"Because Duoduo's family moved away, he didn't come back!" A rough man's honest voice sounded, and it seemed to make some sense.

"Duoduo said she wants to marry me when she grows up, but her mother says I'm a little idiot. She also says Dad is an idiot, a big idiot! Dad, can't idiots get married and have children?"

"Of course I can. Look, our donkey has given birth to two mules! Didn't your father give birth to you too?"

Zhang Ling turned over on the straw mat, his eyes closed, breathing steadily. He listened quietly to the stories in the town, and his understanding of Qingyun Town deepened again.

Late at night, everything is quiet.

Zhang Ling yawned and stood up, took back the straw mat on the ground, and stood there as if waiting for someone.

Soon, only a crazy beggar with disheveled hair was seen wandering on the dark road.

Li Qingyun!

Zhang Ling's mind locked onto it, and he seemed to have some kind of conclusion in his mind.

The beggar suddenly froze in place, his pupils turning green, his body stiff as he looked up at the sky. There was an imperceptible black aura floating from afar, hovering unwillingly above Qingyun Town, as if afraid of something.

There is a monster!

Zhang Ling was delighted and was about to take action when he saw the beggar suddenly bare his fangs towards the sky and absorb all the black air above his head into his body.

At the right moment, an elegant young man appeared behind the beggar, holding a folding fan. "My name is Zhang Ling, and I am the mountain god of Jieyang Mountain. I would like to thank you, my fellow immortal, for transmitting your divine thoughts and providing some clues yesterday."
