Chapter 19 Sea Cucumber Essence

"I'm sorry for not welcoming you, my distinguished guest!"

The tall and fat middle-aged man hurriedly came to Zhang Ling, clasped his fists, bent over, and bowed. His ten thick and fat fingers were adorned with jade rings, each of which had circles of dark red marks.

"I should be the one saying this, but I never thought you'd start a business here!" Zhang Ling opened his folding fan and shook it gently, causing the surrounding scene to spin suddenly.

After a while, the two of them came to a wilderness.

The tall, fat, middle-aged man was terrified. He fell to his knees with a thud and kowtowed, begging for mercy. "Please spare my life, Immortal. This little demon has never harmed a mortal in the slightest. I only want to help the poor mortals here improve their lives."

As he spoke, the tall and fat middle-aged man revealed his true form, and turned out to be a sea cucumber spirit!

I saw that its whole body was like a worm, cylindrical, thick at the front and thin at the back, covered with sticky tube feet and tentacles, densely packed and looking very crowded. Its two narrow eyes grew on the abdomen, but at this moment they kept secreting tears and twitching up and down.

Zhang Ling calculated with his fingers and found that the sea cucumber spirit was indeed not lying. Not only were the mortals in Heqiu Town not harmed, but their lives were getting better and better.

This is a good thing, but it cannot last long if left alone.

"Five hundred years ago, you came to Jieyang Mountain and hid in the river, refusing to come out. This immortal saw that you did not cause any harm to the world, but simply lived in a secluded corner. So, I thought that the heavens were merciful and I left you alone."

Zhang Ling put away his folding fan and continued, "I never imagined that five hundred years would pass so quickly, and you would actually start doing mortal business in this town. Although your original intention was good, and you lived happily with the people here, it is inevitable that you will sow the seeds of trouble."

The sea cucumber spirit prostrated itself on the ground, weeping, "I once heard that as long as one is wholeheartedly kind, one can attain enlightenment and become an immortal. Could there be something wrong with this?"

Zhang Ling shook his head, turned his back, held his folding fan, and said with his hands behind his back: "That being said, you are a monster after all, a sea cucumber monster! Not only mortals want to eat you, monsters want to eat you, even gods want to eat you!"

"Please, Immortal, show me the way forward. I am willing to cut off half of my body!"

Zhang Ling sighed, turned around and looked at the sea cucumber spirit huddled on the ground. He said, "I didn't come here to eat you, nor to embarrass you. I just think you're no longer fit to stay here. Go, the farther the better. Don't stay any longer."

"Goddess, I don't know where to go! Please have mercy and show me a way out!"

Zhang Ling pondered for a moment and said, "Go to the coast. That might be your final destination. Sooner or later, you'll arouse suspicion among those sacred beings here. After all, there's no such thing as a sea cucumber being found in a river. If everyone comes to investigate, how could you possibly survive?"

Upon hearing this, the sea cucumber spirit immediately transformed back into a human form, knelt down and kowtowed again, saying, "Five hundred years ago, a sea dweller brought me back here. By chance, I gained spiritual intelligence. Now that I have transformed and gained enlightenment, I always remember the teachings of kindness and never dare to neglect them. I will always remember the immortal's kindness."

Zhang Ling nodded, quite appreciatively saying, "You deserve five hundred years to transform. This opportunity is the result of your goodness. However, while it's good to be kind, you must also remember that disaster can come from the sky."

After saying that, he waved his hand and gave the sea cucumber spirit some immortal energy and spiritual power. This could be regarded as a mark of an immortal. If other immortals passing by saw it, they would know that this sea cucumber spirit was not a wild monster of a casual cultivator, but a good monster recognized by the immortals.

I just hope that by doing this, he won’t be beaten to death.

The sea cucumber spirit was filled with gratitude and asked Zhang Ling's name, saying that if he had the chance one day, he would definitely come to repay his gratitude.

Zhang Ling disappeared into the clouds, and a voice floated down from the sky: "If fate calls for us one day, we'll connect! Go now, and don't look back."

The sea cucumber spirit wiped away her tears and left this place, heading towards the coast.
