Chapter 12: The First Meeting of the Knight and the Lich (Part 2)

Chapter 12: The First Meeting of the Knight and the Lich (Part 2)

"Eh? Weapons?" Jiang You scratched his head and looked at the soup spoon in his right hand: "Oh! Sorry! I was steaming rose glutinous rice! I accidentally took it out."

She cheerfully went back to the kitchen: "Wait a moment, I'll go check the fire. Mr. Knight, put down your sword too. Would you like a cup of hot tea?"

Andre: "...No, no need."

The atmosphere in the room instantly became awkward. Andrei subconsciously glanced behind him and found that Jericho was looking at him with an indescribable expression...

He withdrew his sword with a stone face, then displayed his Knights of the Kingdom's insignia and a written order of investigation signed by the king. He coughed lightly to hide his embarrassment, "This lich... could you please come out and answer a few questions for us?"

"I'm coming!" Jiang You turned down the magic flame on the stove, put down the soup spoon, took off his apron, and came out of the kitchen. "Sorry to have kept you waiting~"

This skeleton looked very polite and friendly, which made Andre feel a little helpless for a moment.

He has always adhered to the principle of "be strong when facing the strong, be weak when facing the weak, be kind when facing the good, and be evil when facing the evil". He will not hit a smiling person, even if the other party is a moving skeleton... but at least it is a smiling skeleton!

"This... lich..." He glanced at Jiang You's pelvis, hesitated, and added, "...Miss, let me confirm, do you hold a 'Dark Magic License'?"

"Yes, yes!" Jiang You glanced at his badge and investigation warrant, then cooperatively opened his skull and pulled out a... book. He spread it on the counter in front of Andre. "Here!"

Andrei took a deep breath, suppressed his fighting spirit, picked up the Dark Arts Charter, flipped through it, and fell silent as he looked at the king's signature. He reached out and brushed the soul signature of the authorized person below, and saw a silver-white soul light illuminate the skeleton in front of him.

"It is indeed a Letter of Intent for the Dark Arts issued by the King."

He finally came to a conclusion and pushed the "Black Magic License" back to Jiang You. "Your soul fluctuations are different from Mi You. May I ask who you are..."

"My name is Jiang You," Jiang You said with a smile, "As you can see, I'm a lich. For some inexplicable reason, I have now inherited this brewing workshop."

"Where did Mi You go?" Jericho asked curiously, "Isn't she here?"

"She's gone... or rather, she'll never be here again." Thinking of the unfortunate owner of the house, the soul fire in the skeleton's eyes dimmed a little. "Due to an unfortunate magical accident, she has passed away, and her body is gone."

"No body left?" Andre repeated doubtfully, his eyes staring at the skeleton becoming sharper in an instant.

Takumi scratched his skull. "Well, it was already in this state when I got here... Actually, I'm not really sure what happened. Do you want to check it out for yourselves?"

Andrei exchanged a glance with Jericho, climbed over the counter, and followed her down to the basement.

These days, Jiangyou has been busy making koji and developing and producing the otherworldly version of rose wine from scratch. She has no time to deal with the basement... or rather, she doesn't know how to deal with it.

With magic circles, even the slightest movement of a character or line could easily trigger a chain reaction of magical reactions. The unfortunate Mi You was a prime example of this. While Takumi You possessed the gift of [Magic Affinity], he was a complete amateur with no training and didn't dare to mess around.

During the short time they were walking down to the basement, Jiang You had already explained the whole story. Of course, she only said that she didn't remember anything about her own origins, but she vaguely felt that she was probably a good cook.

When you're out and about, your identity and personality are all created by yourself. Who says soy sauce and fermented rice wine aren't food? This is the absolute truth!

She hadn't considered hiding the fact that Mi You had become a lich. Firstly, she didn't like lying. A small lie always required more and more lies to cover it up, and she didn't want to add so much burden to herself. Secondly, she was upright and had the "Black Magic Charter" issued by the king in hand, so she had no fear at all.

Thirdly... there must be many talented people with special abilities in this magical world. Who knows, the knights of this kingdom might have a way to distinguish the real from the fake?

She was just an innocent, unlucky soul who was dragged here by a wrong spell, and the magical idiot Mi You who was the culprit was dead and there was no evidence. No matter how unreasonable the knights of the kingdom were, they could not put the blame on her.

She had a hunch that the black-haired, green-eyed knight in front of her was not some unreasonable, barbaric villain.

"Look, I woke up here." Jiang You pointed the magic circle and the coffin to the black-haired knight. Andre took a breath and squatted down.

"Lich-transforming magic circle, soul summoning, sacrifice..." The names of the magic circles popped out from the knight's mouth one by one.

Jiang You might be a layman in magic who has talent but no knowledge, but the black-haired, green-eyed knight in front of him is obviously an expert in magic.

Andre knelt on one knee and reached out to explore the magic circle with layers of circles. The magic circle responded to his action and lit up a gloomy and ominous red light.

The scene was a bit creepy. Jiang You couldn't help but take a few steps back and hid outside the door. Out of curiosity, he showed half of his head, and the faint soul fire lit up a curious green light.

Andre was speechless. He glanced back at her, sighed, and said to Jericho, "What she said is indeed true. There is Mi You's soul fluctuation here. This is a voluntary sacrifice and a one-way summons...

Damn it, the clue is broken again."

Jiang You: “?”

——This knight seems to be investigating something. Could it be that the owner of the house is involved in some terrible incident?

Thinking of what Auntie Wolf next door said about the mysterious death of the owner's mother, who was suspected to have been assassinated to silence her, Jiang You couldn't help but shudder.

"By the way," Andre stood up and looked up at Jiang You, "You seem to know me?"

"..." The skeleton froze noticeably. Half-hiding behind the door, she checked her finger bones guiltily. "Well, not really, I know you. I just saw your face in a picture book."

She wouldn't tell him that she'd been falling asleep every night these past few days, touching the huge, full-color painting in the album! Hehe, the abs were really well drawn... I wonder if the knight himself has such beautiful muscle tones...

As he was thinking, the soul fire in the eye sockets of the white skeleton suddenly lit up, and the pink flame looked quite strange.

Andre: "..." I don't know why I suddenly felt a chill on my back.
