Chapter 122 Branch Opening (Part 2)

Chapter 122 Branch Opening (Part 2)

The entire shop is in the shape of a Chinese character "口". The door and windows are on the bottom horizontal line of the character. The vertical line to the left of the character is an empty wall connected to the cafeteria, and the vertical wall to the right is nailed with rows of shelves: the soy sauce and sauces to be sold in the future will be placed here.

The horizontal line above the "口" character is the cafeteria's outer wall. A window has been opened here for takeout, and the raven cage is placed next to it. This wall also has a row of cabinets. The upper cabinets hold tableware and seasonings, while the lower cabinets hold casseroles and fine gold cookware. A thick tree stump vegetable mound sits on the countertop.

In the left corner of the counter was a cash register, the same one that had originally been in the snack kiosk.

The entire shop has a unified style. The outside of the shop is made of matte red brick walls, plaster joints, brown wooden doors and windows, frames and orange tile eaves, while the inside is decorated with clean white tile countertops, brown wooden cabinets and wooden shelves.

Limited by the building materials of the era, Uncle Eric could only get the most basic red bricks and white tiles. There weren't many options, but the finished product was quite impressive: clean, tidy, and exuding a sense of ancient simplicity. Jiangyou and the others were very satisfied.

After they finished their inspection, Jiangyou, seeing no adjustments needed, promptly paid the balance. Then, they cleaned, stocked the shelves, bought groceries and meat, and notified Heli to deliver the crayfish. After a busy day, they finally lit the lanterns at dinnertime and opened the windows to welcome the first wave of customers.

During the three days of the store renovation, Jiang You and his friends were very busy. Jiang You spent a lot of time teaching Mei Li how to cook, and they finally decided on the signature dish of the branch.

In addition to the popular summer dish crayfish, the branch also sells cured meat clay pot rice, jelly pot and several classic dishes from Cantonese tea restaurants - beef and egg rice, barbecued pork rice, peanut butter toast, scallion chicken, blanched fresh vegetables of the day and iced lemon tea.

The jelly pots include raw jelly marinated beef pot, braised fish head pot, jelly pork intestine pot with basil, jelly cauliflower, and braised pork pot. It's a shame that despite the abundance of fields in the Witch Forest, catching frogs and eels is difficult; otherwise, Jiangyou would have made jelly frog pot and jelly eel pot.

The supply of these dishes is very stable: crayfish are caught by beavers in shrimp cages and then transported here; pork, pork intestines, beef, chicken, eggs and cured meats are all provided by Uncle Wolf; the river next to the Witch Village produces delicious grass carp and silver carp; there are also various home-grown vegetables in the fields; although not much rice is grown here, Jiangyou bought a lot of rice from Holly, enough for the branch to use for a while.

Lolisa also applied to the witches in charge for a piece of land next to the river. She bought rice seeds from Holly and planned to hire people to open up a rice field when summer came.

The latitude of Huntington is equivalent to that of England in Jiangyou's original world, which is similar to the latitude of Mohe in Heilongjiang. Winters here are extremely cold, and only in the summer can the temperature rise and a rice crop be planted.

The other dishes are limited by the raw materials, sauces and Meili's cooking skills, so they cannot be replicated for the time being, but the dishes that Meili has learned so far are more than enough to support the operation of the branch for a long time.

As for toast - that's what toast is called in Cantonese - Jiangyou made some proper yeast these days and taught Jasmine the cook and Meili and her daughter how to make milk toast.

This soft, sweet toast has been a huge hit with the villagers since its release, not to mention the delicious variety of sandwiches it can be made with.

However, there is no bread oven in the branch, so if you want to bake toast, you have to go to the canteen kitchen. The ingredients required for making toast are cultivated yeast, finer-ground flour, eggs, milk and whipped cream. The cost and labor hours are much higher than those for making brown bread.

After careful consideration, Chef Jasmine decided to bake only three batches of toast every day and sell them all in Jiangyou's branch - this thing is really too delicious and the cost is high. If it is put in the free canteen, it may cause a rush, not to mention that the high cost cannot be recovered at all. It is better to let the villagers spend money to buy it.

Jiang You: “…” So the food in this cafeteria is so bad that it is deliberately done by the chef Jasmine to save costs!

As for the takeaway window in the branch, the business hours are the same as those of other branches. Due to the limited flying range of ravens, the takeaway delivery distance is only limited to within 15 kilometers, including the entire Witch Forest, Xijiao Town and the village where the spider spirits of the Discipline Sect live. There is still a considerable customer base. Jiangyou is a little worried about whether this little raven can handle it.

Due to the limited staff in the store, the prices and types of ingredients for dishes vary from day to day. Jiangyou came up with a sales measure to save manpower and financial resources - the dish with the cheapest purchase price and the most ingredients on that day is used as the main dish of the day, and is sold at a slightly preferential price. This will encourage everyone to place orders in a concentrated manner as much as possible and also improve the efficiency of serving the dishes.

In short, we will have to wait until the business is open for one night to find out how the business is going and whether it can handle the business.

So, on the evening of the 13th of Midsummer Month, the villagers who came to the cafeteria for dinner and the guests near the Witch's Forest who were lucky enough to get flyers were all pleasantly surprised to find that [Takumi Yu's Brewing Workshop (Witch's Forest Branch)] was finally open!

Tonight, the branch's chefs were Takuyu and Meili, while Loris was in charge of taking orders, registering, delivering meals, and packing for takeout. As the branch's first customer, Auntie Wolf happily enjoyed her first bowl of steaming, freshly baked beef and egg rice.

"What a nice smell! What are they cooking in the cafeteria today? Why does it smell so good?" An old lady walked into the cafeteria and took a deep breath of the aroma. She looked around but didn't see any dishes that were different from the usual ones. "Strange! I can clearly smell the aroma!"

"I smell it too." The young man beside her took a deep breath, then walked a few steps in the direction of the aroma. Looking up, he saw the lanterns of the small shop at the back of the cafeteria lit up. He called out hurriedly, "Mom! It's not the cafeteria's food, it's the brewery that's opened!"

"Let me see, let me see!" The woman rushed to the window of the branch store in two steps. "Lorisa, what's delicious here?"

"There are so many delicious dishes." Lolita smiled and handed over the menu: "Would you like to try today's featured dish, beef and egg rice? The featured dishes are randomly rotated every day based on the supply. All dishes that are featured daily are sold at a 10% discount~"
