Chapter 23 Case File 1: Botanical Garden Mystery (5)

Chapter 23 Case File 1: Botanical Garden Mystery (5)

When King Huntington was still the Grand Duke of Huntington, the real Duchy of Huntington was just a crescent moon, surrounding the full moon of the Kingdom of Delman to the northwest.

The reason why this situation of "allowing others to snore beside your bed" occurs is that there is an external enemy in the northwest that King Delman fears: the Rock Iron Giant.

The Rock Iron Giants are a race of ugly, humanoid creatures, ranging in height from just over three meters to ten meters tall, with arms extending past their knees and potbellies. Their bodies are harder than rock and iron, invulnerable to weapons and weapons, and they enjoy cannibalism. They are cruel, selfish, bloodthirsty, and incommunicable, making them the primary enemy of the German Kingdom.

The previous Grand Duke of Huntington, the father of the current King of Huntington, was originally the general of the Kingdom of Delman. He was knighted for his outstanding achievements against the Rock Iron Giants, and this title was later inherited by the current Grand Duke of Huntington without any demotion.

The original Duchy of Huntington was a fiefdom granted by King Derman to the previous Grand Duke, and it was also an artificial barrier set up between the Kingdom of Derman and the tribe of the Rock Iron Giants.

The Dou Qi, inherited from Grand Duke Huntington, was one of the few special magics capable of penetrating the Rock and Iron Giant's skin and attacking its vulnerable internal organs. Other magics, such as the Holy Light Magic wielded only by the Grand Priest and the powerful, ultimate magic reserved for the Grand Master, could injure the Rock and Iron Giant, but these were energy-intensive and inefficient, making them far less effective than Dou Qi.

The Huntington lineage is composed entirely of knights who once guarded the border of the kingdom. Their flesh and blood built a crescent wall in the northwest to fight against the giants. It was precisely because of this glorious military achievement that scared off the giants that the current Grand Duke of Huntington was able to break through the siege among the nobles and become the first choice to succeed to the throne.

There was no other way. If someone else became king, not only would he not be able to win the support of the people, but what if the giants attacked and the Huntington family gave up because they were dissatisfied with the new king? The best solution was to make the current Grand Duke of Huntington the king.

Needless to say, this move truly frightened the giants of the northwest. After the merger of the Duchy of Huntington and the Kingdom of Delman, the giants briefly stirred before quieting down again. For over a decade, there were only minor skirmishes, no major battles, which reassured the Delman clan.

Once my heart is at peace, my mind starts to get busy.

The previous King of Derman was fond of bestowing titles, bestowing titles upon all his relatives, friends, and those who had made contributions. These nobles weren't all in name only; many held real power: some served as Minister of Finance or Minister of Education; some, like Baron Augustin von Neumann, were lords of entire cities; and some even infiltrated daily life, monopolizing key industries.

After King Huntington ascended the throne, these nobles banded together, and under the leadership of King Delman's real in-laws, they became a united force known as the 'Delman clan'. They were keen on causing trouble for King Huntington and opposed all of his actions.

King Huntington knew that the interests of these old nobles were incompatible with his own, so he vigorously developed the Moon Worship Cult, wholeheartedly seeking welfare for the common people, and was determined to tie the general public, scholars, and priests to his chariot.

Although his motives were somewhat biased, he was doing good things. As a result, the attitudes of the commoner members of the Kingdom Parliament gradually shifted towards the current king. Of course, this phenomenon was not good news for the German royal family.

Although Andre Lu Huntington was a descendant of an insignificant branch of the Huntington royal family, it was no accident that he was now transferred to the territory of Baron Augustin von Neumann. Anyone with a little political insight could see that the Huntington King was beginning to want to take action against the German royal family.

When the gods above are fighting, little local tyrants like Captain Piru, who bully the common people in the city and are nothing in the eyes of the city lord, have no choice but to keep their necks down to avoid being caught in the crossfire.

However, the prayers of Captain Peru and Vice Captain Huipa were not heard by any gods. The road outside the city was still empty, but a soldier rushed out of the city gate in a panic. He was the confidant of Huipa who had been sent back to "take care of trivial matters".

"Report! Captain! Deputy Captain! It's bad! It's bad! Andrei, Andrei has entered the city! He, he's in the dungeon..."

Captain Piru, who was enjoying the coolness under the shadow of the city wall, stood up suddenly, his eyes shining and his heart full of hope: "Andre was captured? Who did it? It was done well..."

"No! No! He went to interrogate the prisoner! It's that Haff kid, Holly Ho Axe!"

Captain Piru rolled his eyes instantly and swayed a few times, as if he was about to faint, but he didn't succeed in the end. Deputy Captain Huipa rushed over to support him and began to pinch his nose.

"Captain! Hold on, Captain! You must pull yourself together now and hurry back to take charge of the situation. We can't let the situation escalate!"

"You're right." Captain Piru waved away the hands that were pinching him painfully. "Everyone! Return to the city! To the dungeon!"

A large group of sweaty knights quickly formed up and headed towards the headquarters of the Kingdom Knights' Eston West City branch.

Their headquarters is located in the northeast area of the upper city, behind Augustin von Neumann's city palace and next to the Crescent Cathedral, occupying a large piece of land in the most expensive prime location in the city.

The branch's headquarters was a magnificent marble building known as the Knight's Hall. It housed a grand hall where knights could be conferred titles and awards, as well as offices for handling various minor matters. All official business, both large and small, and important ceremonies were conducted in the Knight's Hall.

The main entrance of the majestic Knight's Hall faces the back door of the City Lord's Palace. The knights guarding the City Lord's Palace obviously provide Baron Neumann with a great sense of security.

After passing through the Knight's Hall, you'll arrive at the Knights' Training Grounds, where all the Kingdom's knights in the city train and compete. Further north, you'll find the Kingdom's official forge. The craftsmen here have all signed lifelong agreements with the Principality, dedicating themselves wholeheartedly to forging various weapons and equipment for the Kingdom's knights.

To the east of the forge are the barracks and mess hall of the Kingdom's Knights, and to the west is the prison where the Kingdom's Knights detain and arrest criminals.

The prison is divided into two parts. The large prison on the ground is used to detain hooligans who have committed less serious crimes such as petty theft and fighting. There is another dark, deep and secret dungeon underground that is used to detain murderers, cultists and other serious criminals.

Although Holly Ho Axe was only an underage member of the Haf tribe, he was imprisoned in the deepest part of the dungeon because he was involved with the Evil Eye Moon.
