Chapter 44 The Journey Begins
“Ga ga ga—”
The urgent cry of birds echoed, and the skeleton suddenly woke up, its dim pupils suddenly brightening up: "Ah? Ah! Who? What's going on?!"
The crows outside the window flapped their wings and flew into the sky. Jiang You walked to the window and stuck his head out, just in time to see a carriage turning at the corner not far away and heading towards this side.
"Hey!" Her eyes danced with joy. "It's Holly and Aunt Wolf!"
She closed the window, stuffed the business journal back into the drawer, and happily ran out. Just as she was about to go downstairs, she saw the door to the next room open. A green-eyed knight, wearing a black, muscular vest, yawned and walked out. He tossed her a cloak and said, "Put it on. Don't run around naked."
"Hey, I'm just a skeleton, what does it matter~" Jiangyou said indifferently.
As she was talking, she couldn't move her eyes away after she caught sight of Andre's toned muscles and lean waist... Hiss, a man should have muscles like this that are forged through sufficient strength training and repeated tempering!
"...You'll scare the children." Andrei had never seen such an unrefined skeleton before. He was speechless for a moment before he said, "How long do you plan to be gone?"
"Well, if there's nothing, I'll go back tonight. If there is... maybe I'll stay for a few days?" Jiang You rested his fingertips against his jawbone, a thoughtful look on his face. "I'm leaning towards the latter... It's a rare trip, so I have to enjoy it."
"Oh, then let Jericho follow you." Andre called over the little attendant who was ready to go. "Jerricho and I have been to many places. He knows a lot of customs and strange knowledge. Maybe he can help you."
Seeing Takuyu's hesitation, he added, "Jericho is also good at bargaining."
Jiang You's orange-yellow pupils suddenly sparked with two sparks, and she said with a broad smile, "Oh, that's great!"
Jericho: “…” This skeleton is so easy to understand!
Andrei, who had fully mastered how to communicate with this skeleton, continued, "Jericho knows some basic swordsmanship and fighting skills. Normally, he's more than enough to keep you safe. If you really encounter trouble he can't solve, Jericho will know how to contact me."
"Hey, I'm not in any danger," Jiang You waved his hand, his pupils flashing a threatening purple. "But while we're away, you should hurry up and fix the sign, the gate, and those shelves downstairs! We're opening soon, no slacking off!"
She ran downstairs happily, clutching her cloak. Her voice came from afar: "Look after my house!"
Andre: “…”
The green-eyed knight sighed helplessly. He returned to his room, opened the window, and leaned against it as the skeletal figure, cloaked in a cloak and accompanied by a small entourage, ran out of the courtyard gate. Jiangyou happily met Aunt Wolf and Holly in the carriage. Before getting in, he glanced back upstairs and waved to him.
Andre also waved to her. The pink soul fire in the skeleton's eyes jumped, and he turned around and lowered his head to get into the carriage.
The little attendant climbed to the front of the carriage and sat with the coachman. The carriage started slowly, and the little attendant's well-behaved mule followed behind.
Andrei withdrew his gaze and was about to reach out to close the window when he suddenly caught a glimpse of a crow circling in the sky. He flicked his fingertips, and a stream of fighting spirit shot out, hitting the crow's chest.
The crow vanished into smoke with a puff.
"Servant demon..." Andre sneered, "My guess was right, someone is watching her.
"Evil Eye Moon...what plans does he have for her?"
------
The carriage carrying several people slowly drove towards the west of the city.
Holly is worthy of being the young master currently in power in the Axe family. His carriage is very large and is divided into two compartments, front and back, by a carved partition. The front is used to carry people, and the back is used to transport goods.
Jiangyou, Aunt Wolf and Holly were sitting in the front carriage at the moment.
Even though it only occupies half of the carriage, this compartment is comparable to a small room. There are two rows of sofa seats installed against the front and rear walls, which can accommodate four adults very comfortably.
There is a foldable table under the window facing the carriage door. At this moment, it is open, with a box of small biscuits and a pot of refreshing herbal tea on it.
Aunt Wolf and Holly sat across from Jiang You, while Jiang You occupied a row all to himself. The skeleton stretched comfortably, curiously drawing aside the curtain hanging in front of the carriage window and looking out.
This was her second time traveling outside the workshop! Everything in the city was new to Jiang You, and she felt like an elementary school student on a school trip!
——Of course, Jiang You did not successfully participate in any school activities that year. After all, taking a patient with congenital heart disease on an outing is a responsibility that no school dares to take lightly.
This also makes Jiangyou look forward to this trip even more. It is like fulfilling her unattainable dreams in the past!
Who would have thought that after death she would experience everything she could not have before. Life is often so wonderful. Is this the legendary "When you are surrounded by mountains and rivers and think there is no way out, you will find another village with willows and flowers"?
"So, why is Eston West City called 'West City'?" Jiang You asked curiously.
"That's because there used to be an 'Eastern City of Eston' to the east," Aunt Wolf said with a smile. "Hundreds of years ago, the East and West Cities were combined and called the 'Twin Cities of Eston'!"
"In the past?" Jiang You's eyes flashed with fire. "Then is Dongcheng still there now?"
"It's gone. East City was burned down in a war one or two hundred years ago," Aunt Wolf said. "That disaster caused many casualties, but many people still escaped from East City. More than half of the residents of West City now are probably descendants of those who moved in from East City back then...including me."
"Hey! Auntie too?"
"Well, it's said that my great-grandfather and his family fled from East City to West City. After the war subsided, they settled here!" Aunt Wolf said, "But East City was completely destroyed that year, so no one went back...
"Perhaps reconstruction requires too much money, and the German royal family doesn't have the energy or financial resources to rebuild again. Instead of spending the time rebuilding a city, it's better to let people settle down in the new city!"
"That's true!" Jiang You nodded. "So that piece of land is just vacant?"
"It's not exactly empty. Over the past two hundred years, winter has passed, spring has returned, and all things have revived. The ruins of that city have mostly disappeared in the wind, frost, rain, and snow. Now only the broken walls remain, hidden in the lush forest!"
