Chapter 64 Leaf Card

Chapter 64 Leaf Card

The cards Andre was talking about were a kind of leaf cards unique to this country, created by the Moon Worship Cult. They were a light and thin deck of cards, cut out of paper into the shape of oval leaves, with the pointed tips and rounded tails of the leaves slightly curved in one direction, resembling a crescent moon - of course, the curvature was not that obvious.

Leaf cards are usually played by four players, with a magic board as the battlefield. The cards are divided into four non-attribute character profession cards, thirty-two flower cards and forty point cards.

The character cards are divided into Knight, Magician, Merchant, and Priest, each with a distinct strength and weakness. There are four types of points to add: physical attack, magic, money, and popularity, and ultimately, a formula can be used to determine the power level.

The Knight excels in physical attack, but is mediocre in magic. Each round, they must deduct a portion of their gold from their hand to maintain their armament. Paying gold maintains their armament, and paying double the gold increases their armament by one point. If they spend all their gold, their physical attack is deducted. Their initial popularity is three, clearly indicating their high public trust.

Magicians specialize in magic, but their physical attacks are weak. Each round, they must deduct a portion of their gold from their spell research. Paying gold automatically grants them a point of magic. Not paying gold only prevents magic from increasing, not deducting it. This puts them under much less pressure to spend money than the knights, who spend a lot of money. Initial Popularity Points are zero.

Merchants are not good at physical attacks or magic, but their initial money value is automatically +10. The higher the money value, the higher the popularity value. At the same time, they can choose to increase their physical attacks and magic by consuming money.

The priest is good at magic, but his physical attack is average. His initial money value is zero, but his popularity value is automatically increased by 10, and he can gain money by managing his popularity.

Flower cards are divided into four groups: Sun, Moon, Star, and Demon. Moon represents the White Moon, while Demon represents the Red Demon Moon. Each group contains eight cards, each with its own unique effects: some buff, some debuff, some attack, some defend, and even some inexplicable tricks. Combining them with different attributes, characters, and even scenarios can create a variety of hilarious outcomes.

Andre naturally had cards, a complete set of flower cards contained in a small square box. Unfolding the box revealed a floor with its own magical projections. Depending on how the floor was assembled, the scenery, location, and events at each grid point would randomly change.

Jiang You understood: "This is the magic version of Monopoly board game!"

There are also a few dice in the box, which makes it feel like a board game.

The game begins with a random draw of cards for both your character and your starting location on the map. Once these are determined, you draw your initial points from the point deck and then apply a bonus based on your class's attributes. Even if you can't calculate on your own, it doesn't matter; simply place your cards in designated locations on the game board, and the corresponding values will automatically appear on the magic projection. It's incredibly intelligent.

The gameplay is similar to a board game, with four players managing their own forces using their own characters. Each round, each player draws a flower card, choosing their own actions and development direction. Success or failure is determined by rolling the dice, which grants or loses various point cards. Random emergencies, targeting individuals or the entire field, are randomly dispatched on the magical field. Players may step on traps or encounter falling gift boxes as they advance, creating the possibility of overnight wealth or total ruin.

The goal of the game is to dominate most or even the entire magical field through business development, or to survive even after all your competitors have gone bankrupt. The rules are clear, with cards featuring numbers and images that are easy to understand. The magical field projections and event reports are also included, so even an illiterate player can play as long as they can recognize basic numbers from 1-10.

This game does not have a fixed way to play. Whether you fight alone or form a short-term alliance, conquer by force or win over people's hearts and minds, it all depends on the player's own wishes and means.

After listening to the introduction, Jiang You was very interested: "But there are only three of us. We don't have enough people. How can we play?"

Andrei was calm and composed. He opened the card box and placed the cards on the table. Immediately, the hunters and servants who were resting at the next table gathered around him and asked, "Little brother, want to play a game?"

Jiang You: “.” This thing is really popular!

The cat Jericho wasn't interested in playing cards, so he automatically gave up his spot and went to sleep by the fireplace. On a cool rainy day, with the sound of rain outside and the warmth of the fireplace inside, this is the powerful cat catcher.

This kind of game would lose some of its fun without any prizes, but we are all passers-by taking shelter from the rain, and we all value not showing off our wealth. What we are betting on are the ingredients for dinner and afternoon tea snacks.

The hunter brought out a pheasant, bound with ropes, and the servant brought out a bag of pecans. Jiangyou had never played this game before, and even listening to Andre's explanation still left him feeling unsure. He gave up his seat and decided to just watch the first round from behind, while he went to the kitchen to make some cookies.

Another hunter immediately brought the hare to fill the vacant position, the game officially started, and the four people drew characters one after another.

The kitchen had an oven and a mortar, along with butter and flour, but no sugar. That didn't matter, though; Jiangyou had brought her own. She was planning to make salty mushroom cookies, so the sugar was only for flavor and to help the cookies set. The amount needed wasn't large, and the flavor would barely show up in the final product.

Finely pound the sugar cubes into powdered sugar in a mortar, and mix them evenly with salt and softened butter. Cut the mushrooms into thin slices and bake them in the oven until they are crispy. Then put them into the mortar and pound them into fine mushroom powder. Occasionally, retain some large pieces of mushroom fragments to enhance the taste.

Jiangyou added egg liquid to the butter dough twice, mixing thoroughly. Then she sifted in flour and kneaded it into a dough. Finally, she evenly mixed in the mushroom powder and crushed pieces. She rolled the finished dough thinly with a rolling pin and used the utensils and knives at hand to press it into various shapes: circles, triangles, mushrooms... Finally, she placed it in a baking pan and baked it in the bread oven.

When she came out with the fragrant mushroom cookies, the four of them had already completed a series of tedious stages of drawing cards, adding points, and initial development. Their forces had flourished and were preparing to march to the surrounding areas and compete with each other - this was the most interesting time of the game.

I don't know what Andre's luck was, he happened to get the knight this time, but he only touched three gold points at the beginning, and was so poor that he was really playing his true colors.

The pheasant hunter got the merchant, and the hare hunter got the magician. The two knew each other and their territories were adjacent, so they had secretly formed an alliance. The merchant invested in the magician to increase his magic power while running his business, and his business developed very smoothly.

The noble servant, holding a priest, established a church in the town to attract popularity and money, and his power grew rapidly.
