Chapter 77 Patients, Allies, and Dogs
"Master You, I'm afraid the methods you described are too advanced. We have never heard of them, let alone tasted them. Our chefs may find it difficult to make the finished product based on the recipe description alone. Even if they do, we can't judge whether it is correct." Heidi said embarrassedly.
You know, she had eaten salad all her life and had never eaten cooked vegetables. She couldn't imagine the taste of blanched or stir-fried vegetables.
"Since we've met at this inn, I'm sure you're all headed to the capital, right? Why don't we travel together? For the next few days, you can cook for me according to the recipes, and our chef will help you. In a week, he'll have mastered the recipes! As compensation for interrupting your journey, we'll pay for the recipes, the chef's tuition, and cover all expenses for you and your companions during the journey and even after we reach the capital. We'll also buy all the ingredients and seasonings for you each day."
Heidi finished her long speech in a halting and breathless manner, then said firmly, "Although the Lothar family is only a baron, they still have the confidence and financial resources."
Jiangyou's soul fire grew stronger. She turned her head and looked at Andrei, questioning him with her eyes. Andrei thought for a moment and nodded, "I have no objection."
So Jiangyou made the decision: "Okay, it's settled. I'll make you hospital meals for the next few days. If you recover well, I'll arrange some simple exercises for you, starting with a walk after dinner!"
Heidi breathed a sigh of relief and said firmly, "If I can recover, the Lothar family will always remember your kindness. No matter what you need, the Lothar family will be your loyal friend and strong support."
"Wow! That's great!"
After seeing Heidi and the housekeeper off, Jiangyou closed the door: "Hey, another big client!" He seemed to be very rich.
"Baron Lothar has always been someone His Majesty the King has sought to win over," Andrei volunteered. "He tends to be neutral, and his relationship with the old Delman clan is uneasy. He's a widower who values his family dearly. After his wife's death, his daughter became his only concern. In addition to caring for his daughter, he's been working on developing trade within the territory.
"His territory is located on the southeastern border and has several seaports. Even though it has been plagued by pirates in recent years, maritime trade has still brought Baron Lothar immense wealth."
"Oh wow! Another baron with a small territory but incredibly rich!" Jiang You's eyes gleamed with a greedy glint, as if she had caught a fat sheep. With her skeletal body, she looked like a villain. "By the way, she came to the capital to find out about you? Is it okay for us to travel together?"
"No problem." Andrei didn't think there was anything wrong with the money-grubbing little guy; instead, he found him adorable. "After the incident with Baron Neumann, the nobles are all worried that His Majesty the King will take action against them, so it's normal for them to come and inquire about the news. Baron Lothar and his family haven't done anything harmful to the country or the people. We can take this opportunity to dispel Baron Lothar's doubts and win him over to His Majesty the King's side. Well, it's getting late, let's go to bed. We have to continue our journey tomorrow."
He stood up, dragged out the small couch in the corner, and motioned for Jiang You to go into the inner room to sleep. Jiang You glanced at the small couch that was probably only big enough for a human-shaped Jericho to lie on, then looked back at the equally short sofa, thinking that if a knight slept in such a place, he might not even be able to stretch his legs straight.
"Is there enough room for you guys to sleep here?" Jiang You looked around and couldn't help but feel a little worried. "How about we switch and I sleep in the outer room?"
"No need." Andrei gently put his arm around the skeleton's shoulders and led her into the room. "Have a good rest. We have our own way."
He also took Jiangyou's small bag of luggage into the house, and thoughtfully closed the door when he left.
Takumi Yuu: "...Okay then."
She was indeed tired after a long day, and the sight of the soft, comfortable bed made her feel sleepy. The Skeleton Lich burrowed into the thick blankets, rolled around happily a few times, and quickly slipped into a deep, sweet dream.
In the outer suite, the knight took off his armor. This wasn't the standard armor of the Kingdom's Knights, but rather a simple form of armor used by travelers for self-defense. It only protected the chest, abdomen, and a few vital areas on the back. Its advantage was that it was light and inconspicuous.
Andre liked to wear this suit when he traveled, not to hide his identity - he often traveled back and forth to the royal capital, and the innkeeper here had known him for many years - but because this simple armor was convenient and easy to wear... Well, it looked good after wearing it, and it could show off beautiful muscle lines.
He handed the armor to Jericho to clean and sat down on the couch. A moment later, a black light flashed, and several pieces of clothing fell onto the couch. From within the clothing emerged a green-eyed Doberman with shiny black fur, well-defined muscles, and erect ears.
"Are you going to use this form tonight? Master, then I'll get you a pillow." Jericho gathered the scattered clothes on the couch and put them aside to wash. He then took out a set of clean clothes and a long bone-shaped pillow from his luggage and placed them next to the dog.
Andrei grumbled, grabbed the pillow, and held it under him. He folded his paws over the pillow, pressed the mouthpiece against them, and lay gracefully on the couch, his pointed ears erect and trembling slightly, still picking up the slightest movement nearby.
Jericho took the dirty laundry downstairs to wash it, and after a long time, he returned with the fragrant laundry, which had been dried with magic. It was already late at night, and he locked the door, transformed himself into Nekomata, and slept on the sofa.
The skeleton in the bedroom was sleeping soundly, with his snot bubbles growing and shrinking rhythmically. He didn't notice at all that there was a cat and a dog in the outer room, and missed the opportunity to pet the dog.
It was raining heavily outside, but it was cozy and warm inside. Amid the rustling sound of wind and rain, the guests in the hotel had full stomachs and slept soundly all night.
The rain stopped in the early morning hours. By dawn, the ground outside was completely dry, and the forest air was crisp. Andre woke to the chirping of birds, pawed the ground in dog pose, stretched out, and perfectly executed upward and downward dog poses.
He rubbed his bone pillow for a while, then stood up and went out, running a few laps happily in his dog form, and came back when he had enough fun. The diligent attendant had already prepared hot towels and wiped Master Gouzi from head to toe, leaving no trace of mud or water.
Andrei transformed back into a human. He put on his clothes and armor and announced, "The weather is great today, perfect for continuing on."
