Chapter 87 Future Allies
Heidi visibly relaxed.
As everyone knows, Viscount Andre is the king's man. He praised his father on behalf of the king, which means that his father is not in any danger for the time being... Well, at least judging from the performance of this knight, it doesn't seem like he wants to do anything bad to himself.
It would be better to say that this Viscount and Master You took the initiative to help her after knowing her identity and intentions... While Heidi was embarrassed, she could also clearly feel their kindness.
If His Majesty the King really just wanted to swallow up the property of the Lothar family, then that night in the inn, Andre and Jiang You could have solved most of the trouble by simply turning a blind eye to her illness.
Her anorexia has become terminal. Without Jiangyou's help, she probably won't be able to hold on for long with the anger burning in her heart.
After losing its only heir, the Lothar family will gradually decline.
Heidi didn't recognize either of them that night, and she didn't even know that she had missed her chance to survive.
Yet, Andrei and Takumi Yuu didn't reveal their identities, nor did they ask for anything in return, yet they still helped her. It wasn't until they were about to enter the capital that Andrei solemnly introduced himself... a clear sign of wanting to make friends.
After figuring all this out, Heidi's embarrassment faded a lot, and she quickly switched to negotiation mode: "What is your proposal?"
"An alliance," Andrei said succinctly. "The Lothar family pledges loyalty to His Majesty the King, and we will do our utmost to help you recover. Then, based on this, we can develop further cooperation in the food and beverage industry."
Heidi understood. She glanced at Jiang You, then at Andrei. "...This question may be a little presumptuous, but before I make a decision, I must know...what is your relationship with Master You?"
"We are partners~" Jiang You said with a smile. She patted Andre's shoulder, "Andre is a partner I trust."
"I see." Heidi pondered for a moment. "I'm very willing to form an alliance with you two, but since this concerns our family, I'm afraid I need to discuss it with my father before I can give you a final answer."
After both parties exchanged contact details for their arrival in the capital, the matter was essentially settled. Baron Lothar was a neutral party, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, he would likely accept the proposal for the sake of his daughter's health.
Therefore, before leaving for the royal capital, Jiangyou also taught Heidi's chef several easy-to-make hospital meals: steamed egg custard, chicken soup, tomato stewed beef, and methods of stir-frying and blanching vegetables... Some dishes could not be demonstrated on the spot due to the lack of ingredients, but the chef had watched Jiangyou cook several times and probably understood about 50-60% of them, so he should be able to get by for a few days.
——This is the advance sincerity from Andrei and Takumi Yuu, and Heidi’s return will be discussed after both parties settle down in the royal capital.
Heidi glanced at Andre, who was staring intently at Jiang You's busy work, and asked softly, "My Lord Viscount, this isn't just a partnership, is it?"
"For now," Andrei said, looking at Jiang You with tenderness in his eyes. "She is the one I like, and I plan to pursue her."
Heidi stood in awe. Her eyes roamed repeatedly between the man and the bone, and she couldn't help but applaud in her heart. This noble lady didn't even know the meaning of 'shipping couples', but she was already enthusiastically cheering: "You two look really well-matched! Come on, Viscount!"
"Thank you for your kind words." Andre nodded. "I look forward to working with you."
After he finished speaking, he strode towards Jiang You: "Little Bone, we should go now."
Now that their identities had been revealed and the two sides had not yet fully finalized the alliance, they would need to enter the royal capital separately. Currently, there were too many "eyes" guarding the royal capital, intending to keep an eye on the new Viscount Andrei and investigate the royal family's next move. There was no need to expose Heidi, their future ally, for the time being.
So after Andre and Jericho packed their luggage, they set off first with Jiang You. Heidi and her group would stay at the camp for half a day and then slowly head to the royal capital.
"Heidi~ See you in the capital~" As they set off, Takumi leaned half of his body out of the carriage window and waved cheerfully to Heidi: "Eat well!"
"I will! See you in the capital!" Heidi also waved to Jianyou. She was out of breath now, and her voice was thin and weak. She didn't know whether Jianyou heard her answer or not.
Annoyed, Heidi pulled out the training plan Andre had given her and the diet Takumi had written down. "There's no time to lose. I must work hard and keep my body in good shape! Okay, let's start with a walk by the lake!"
-------
After bidding farewell to Heidi, the carriage drove onto the main road, swaying slowly towards the capital.
We were already very close to the capital, the driveway widening and people starting to appear on the road. Takumi leaned against the car window, watching with fascination the ox-drawn and horse-drawn carts and the pedestrians carrying baskets or bags along the roadside. He once again felt deeply that he was in the magical Middle Ages.
The bad news is that even in the suburbs of the royal capital, transportation here still seems very inconvenient; the good news is that at least this world has magic, which is slightly more advanced than the real Middle Ages... Although the technology tree is crooked, it still exists after all.
The clatter of wheels made Jiangyou drowsy. She yawned, then opened her skull again, pulled out a developing lens, and for a moment studied the brewery's crystal 'surveillance camera'. At this hour, the shop wasn't crowded. Nasha was busy in the kitchen, while Aunt Wolf chatted with the guests. They all looked happy and peaceful.
"It's really nice to be a hands-off boss like this."
During the days of traveling, Jiangyou spent her days cooking and sightseeing. She ate a lot of soul fire and got a lot of sleep. The stress-free travel made her feel relaxed to the bone, as if she was enjoying her retirement time in advance.
"Come to think of it, consuming too much soul fire seems to have made my abilities stronger," she muttered. "Although it was only for a moment, I did see Heidi's thoughts when she was emotionally agitated, and they were even presented in the form of a barrage of thoughts... Is this also a lich's ability?"
Then again, she still knew very little about liches, and she wondered if there was a library in the royal capital where she could look up information related to liches... Well, if that didn't work, perhaps she could go to the Royal Academy of Magic. There must be records of these there, right?
While Jiang You was still thinking, he heard Andre knocking on the window, and the knight's voice came from outside the carriage: "We have arrived at the capital, ready to enter the city."
