Chapter 89 Confession

Chapter 89 Confession

The carriage finally stopped in front of a magnificent cathedral. The door opened and Jiang You, who had changed into a goose yellow dress, held up her goose yellow hat and jumped out of the carriage with a "Hey Yo".

An elderly man in silver-white priestly robes was already waiting for them at the door. Upon seeing Andrei, he immediately came forward and said, "Young Master, welcome back. Madam is presiding over a prayer. Please follow me to the back hall and wait."

"Okay, Olek will hold the lamp." Andrei was obviously familiar with the old man. He agreed and turned to Jiang You to introduce him, "Little Bone, this is His Excellency Olek Saint Vance. He is the lamplighter of this cathedral."

"This must be Miss Jiang You, right?" Oreck said, holding the lamp and giving her a kind smile. He had probably known about Jiang You's identity as a lich for a long time and was not frightened by her skeleton appearance at all. "Ah, it's just as the rumors say, you have a very cute skeleton!"

"Hello! Hello!" Jiang You warmly shook the old lamplighter's hand. After saying hello, she nudged Andrei with her elbow and asked softly, "What does lamplighter mean?"

"The priests of the Moon Worship Cult are divided into the Pope, Saint, High Priest, High Priest, Priest, High Deacon, and Deacon, from the highest to the lowest. Deacons are further divided into the roles of Light Bearer, Listener, Herald, and Food Distributor, each responsible for a portion of the church's daily affairs."

"Oh, so their duties are related to their respective names? Let me guess, the messenger is responsible for conveying orders from above, and the food maker is the cook?" Jiangyou guessed.

"Pretty much," Andrei smiled. "The Listener is responsible for listening to and collecting the opinions and suggestions of the believers, understanding the major and minor events that occur within the church's jurisdiction, and then compiling and reporting to the higher-ups. The Emissary is responsible for conveying the instructions and teachings of the higher-ups to the priests and believers in the church. They also need to preach to the believers and ordinary people who want to learn about the Moon Worship Cult at a fixed time every week.

"The food manager prepares the church's daily meals and is also responsible for opening the church's granary and distributing supplies to the public during important festivals and disasters. As for the lamplighter, he manages the remaining chores within the church, including welcoming and seeing off guests, preparing rooms for guests, and lighting the oil lamps at night..."

"Hey, that's interesting."

The two chatted as they followed Oreck into the church with the lights on. Jericho did not come along - he still needed to park the carriage in the backyard and send the horses to the stables to take care of them - the cat attendant still had a lot of work to do!

The Lunatic Church is filled with images and paintings of crescent and full moons. A continuous row of murals is carved on the marble walls, recording various mythological stories about the Moon Goddess walking the earth, bestowing magic and wisdom on humans, giving reason and strength to animals, and allowing all races to live in harmony and peace.

What’s amazing is that the Moon Goddess is always followed by a group of animals, big and small. Their appearances vary, but most of them are wolves and dogs of various kinds.

The image of the husky howling at the moon flashed through Jiangyou's mind again. She shook her head hard to shake this strange imagination out of her skull.

The three of them walked to a side hall deep in the church. Olek lit a lamp and opened the door to the reception room. "Please rest here for a while, my lady will be here soon."

The knight walked in first, followed by Takumi Yuu. It was a warmly decorated room, perhaps a little small for the nobles' tastes, but in Takumi Yuu's eyes it was just right.

The room was lit with orange lights, bringing warmth to the heart. Thick handwoven tapestries hung on the walls, still depicting the Moon Goddess and her furry companions.

The main subject of the painting is a towering laurel tree, a silver moon hanging high atop it, a crimson moon looming faintly to its side. A goddess, dressed in a Greek-style dress, sits beneath the tree. At her feet sit or recline a group of silver-white bears, wolves, dogs, and rabbits, all adorably listening intently to the goddess's teachings.

This tapestry seems to depict a night scene, but it is woven in warm colors. When you look at it, you feel a sweet warmth in your heart, and you unconsciously hold your face and make an aunt-like sound: "Aaaah~ How cute!"

Of course, Takumi Yuu did the same. However, Takumi Yuu didn't notice that when she was holding the skull and exclaiming adorably, the knight standing behind her was also looking at her, and in his heart he exclaimed, "Woof! She's so cute!"

There was not only a sofa for entertaining guests in the room, but also a small chaise longue. For some reason, there was a lot of silver-white animal hair stuck on the chaise longue.

"Are there animals in the church?" Jiang You asked curiously, then nodded in understanding. "Yeah, there are murals of goddesses and furry animals everywhere, so it's normal for the goddess to have furry animals in her own territory!"

This logic was also very cute. Andre's heart softened again. He said, "Little Bone, I have something to tell you."

"Oh, okay~" Jiang You turned to look at Andre, her pupils flickering in her large eye sockets. She smiled, "Aren't we talking all the time?"

"It's a very important matter." Andre walked up to her, picked up her bone claw, and knelt on one knee: "Little Bone... No, Ayou, I like you. I, Andre Lu Huntington, make the most sincere request to you with my chivalrous heart. Please allow me to pursue you."

Takumi blinked, her pupils flaring a few times as she stared blankly at the unusually serious knight. Then, the skeleton finally realized what had happened and belatedly exclaimed, "Ehhhhhhhhh?!"

Being confessed to for the first time in his two lifetimes, Jiang You couldn't help but pull back his bone claws, holding his face and stammering in surprise: "Chase, chase, chase? Is that what I think it means?"

"That should be it." The knight had a smile on his face. He thought that this 'panicked' little bone was also very cute - of course, people who are deeply in love will find everything their loved ones do cute.

"I, I've never thought about it this way..." Takumi's skull was a jumble of thoughts, a chaotic mess that then turned into a blank. What should she do in this situation? Accept or refuse? Ah, she had read so many novels and anime in the past, but why did her mind go blank when it came to her?

"It doesn't matter." Andre said sympathetically, "I just want a chance, not any promise from you right now. If my pursuit makes you feel uncomfortable or dissatisfied, it's my fault. You can always reject me."

"Ah," Jiangyou's entire skeleton glowed a faint pink. She stretched out her bony claws and poked Andrei's sturdy shoulder. "Then, let's give it a try?"
