Chapter 9 Lord Simulator (2)

Chapter 9 Lord Simulator (2)

Two large slices of toast that were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, fragrant and soft. Joana nibbled off a piece of it just by eating it. When she dipped it into the soup, she was even more amazed. She immediately started to eat it with her head down, not making a sound.

Only after she had finished the whole bowl of delicious creamy soup, which was a thick, almost non-Newtonian fluid and had large chunks of diced chicken, sweet potatoes, celery, carrots and other good ingredients hidden at the bottom, did Joana burp comfortably.

All her rationality returned in an instant, but Joanna, who had just been thinking, "Such generous conditions, the Lich Lord wouldn't want my soul," was now thinking, "Such a delicious dinner, if the Lich Lord wants my soul, just take it!"

——He completely turned into a fanatic.

Aunt Wolf, who had helped entertain the child for a while, took all the empty bowls and plates into the kitchen, then led the mother and child through a door and a long corridor, to a door with a sign that read "Medical Room," and knocked on it.

"Come in!" A somewhat elderly voice came from inside the door.

"Hey, old Duke, come and check up on the mother and child." Aunt Wolf opened the door and gently pushed Joanna, who was holding the child, into the room. Joanna recognized at a glance the old doctor Duke who was sitting in front of the examination table, wearing a bird-beak doctor's uniform but without a mask.

Duke was a renowned bird-beaked doctor in Orosei. He knew numerous healing spells. Legend had it that, for anyone with the money to pay his fee, he could snatch a victim from the Goddess of Death, even if they were on their last breath. However, his fees were exorbitant, typically only the nobility could afford them.

But luckily, Old Duke was a good man who accepted credit. In an emergency, he would save people first and then make them pay for their debts for the rest of their lives.

"Oh, it's Joanna," Old Duke also recognized her. He said apologetically, "It's a pity that I couldn't save your husband. If he had been found earlier and was still breathing, I could have brought him back... What a pity."

Joanna's husband was a security guard for a merchant company. Three months ago, their company received a large order, and for the sake of their newborn son and the approaching winter, her husband gritted his teeth, canceled his vacation, and forced his way into the security team. Unfortunately, they were caught in a robbery, and her husband slipped and fell off a cliff. He wasn't found until a day later. By the time Old Duke was called to his side, he was already dead.

Sad memories flooded her mind, and Joana sniffed, handing the baby to old Duke for examination.

The light of the detection magic swept over their bodies one by one. Old Duke smiled and said, "You two are a little malnourished, but generally speaking, you are still in good health. Stay here for a few more days, and the Lord's delicious food will nourish you back to health."

Joana sniffed again, took her son with a smile, thanked Old Duke, and then followed Aunt Wolf out the door nervously.

"...Don't I have to pay for the consultation?" She asked Aunt Wolf carefully in a low voice.

"No need. Old Duke is paid by the lord, so you don't have to worry about that—" Aunt Wolf took her upstairs and opened a door. "Here, this is your room. Here's the key. Lonanna has already gone to bed at this hour. I'll take you to see her tomorrow morning..."

"Lonanna... who is she?" asked Joanna.

"Lonanna is the person in charge of this shelter. She's a weaver. But don't be afraid. She has a supply of soul fire from Xiaoyou... ahem, the lord. Unless an external enemy attacks this shelter, she won't transform into a giant spider." Aunt Wolf said, "I've just been idle lately, so I followed Xiaoyou around the various shelters, traveling and lending a hand.

"Everyone was busy all day today and was very tired at night, so I volunteered to help keep watch and let them go to rest."

Joana: She saw that Aunt Wolf was so reliable and thought she was the one in charge here!

Aunt Wolf helped Joanna light the small fireplace in the room, and warmth immediately spread throughout the room, which was not cold to begin with. Joanna walked to the window and wanted to open it for some fresh air, but she was surprised to find that although the window was closed, fresh air was coming in through the glass.

Miraculously, she didn't feel cold at all.

"Those are dragonglass windows." Aunt Wolf saw her confusion and explained with a smile, "They're programmed to expel carbon monoxide and let in magically warmed fresh air... Ah, to put it simply, they automatically ventilate but don't let in cold air."

Joanna: "... Very advanced..."

"There are many rooms here. You must remember your house number and carry your key with you. There is a public bathroom and toilet at the end of the corridor. There is free hot water in the bathroom, just don't waste it. Only girls live on the second floor and above. Have a good rest. I will come to take you to the cafeteria for breakfast at 8 o'clock tomorrow morning, and meet Luo Nanna by the way." Aunt Wolf smiled kindly, "Maybe you will have the opportunity to meet our lord - Earl Jiangyou~"

Joanna nervously grabbed her tattered dress. She had never seen an aristocrat before, not even from a distance. To her, the aristocracy was basically a symbol of being unattainable.

She sent Aunt Wolf away, thinking about the possibility of meeting a noble tomorrow, and then she grabbed a change of towels and clothes and went to the bathroom to wash herself thoroughly. The hot water was warm, and there was even free alchemical shower gel provided. It smelled so good that after the shower, Jonah felt as fragrant as a flower.

She gently washed her son with a clean towel dipped in hot water. When she lay in the warm bed as soft as a cloud with the milk-smelling baby in her arms, she felt as if she was in a beautiful dream. She almost wondered if she had been frozen to death in the snow and then gone to a place like heaven.

Then she slept all night until dawn.

Perhaps the room was too comfortable, even the usually noisy son slept very soundly, without even crying. When Joanna woke up, her son was grabbing her hair with his eyes wide open and giggling.

She had just finished changing her son's diaper and tidied herself when someone knocked on her door. "Good morning! I'm Aunt Wolf. Would you like to have breakfast with me?"

"I'll be right there!" Joana put the key to the room into her pocket, tied her son to her body with a piece of cloth, and put out the remaining flames in the fireplace. Then she hurriedly opened the door. "Good morning, Aunt Wolf!"
