The light initially appeared as a faint ring, but quickly spread out, enveloping the entire fountain plaza. Qin Xiaolin and Li Xi simultaneously took a few steps back, their eyes filled with astonishment.
"What... what's going on?" Qin Xiaolin's voice trembled slightly; he had never seen such a strange phenomenon before.
Li Xi stared intently at the glowing array diagram. The wound on her finger had healed automatically, but the unease in her heart grew stronger.
Within the light, the tower began to undergo subtle changes.
The cracks healed at a speed visible to the naked eye, and water began to gush out of the fountain.
Looking around, the surrounding shops and streets gradually returned to their former liveliness and color, as if time had been reversed at this moment, and all the damage had been magically healed.
The residents appeared at some unknown time, busy with their own affairs as usual.
Street vendors hawked their wares along the street, and children chased and played on the newly restored streets, their clear and melodious laughter echoing the unexpected miracle.
Qin Xiaolin and Li Xi stood there dumbfounded, as if they were the only bystanders in this resurrected world.
"Is this...is this a dream?" Li Xi murmured to herself.
She reached out, trying to touch a smiling pedestrian passing by, but what her fingers touched was real and tangible.
Qin Xiaolin shook his head, trying to snap himself out of his shock.
Before the two could finish marveling, the entire city rapidly decayed, returning to its dilapidated state, as if the previous prosperity was merely an illusion, so fast that no one had time to grasp anything substantial.
"What...what's going on?!" Li Xi's voice was filled with disbelief and panic.
Qin Xiaolin frowned and looked around. The once vibrant streets and crowds had vanished without a trace, leaving only ruins and silence.
The cracks on the tower reappeared, and the fountain stopped spraying water.
The whole world seemed to have been put on rewind, and everything returned to the dilapidated state it was when they first met.
“No, this is definitely not a simple dream,” Li Xi said in a low voice. “I have seen this scene before, I really have seen it…”
Those memories she had forgotten, now, with the passage of time, surged into Li Xi's mind like a turbulent tide.
Countless weapons, the deafening sound of war drums, and heart-wrenching cries filled her mind, making it almost unbearable for her to bear the intense impact and memories.
As her will crumbled, her eyes gradually turned bloodshot, and her body trembled slightly, as if drawn by an invisible force. She then collapsed to the ground.
Qin Xiaolin reacted quickly and caught her in his arms. Seeing Xiaoxi like this, he panicked, "Xixi, what's wrong?"
But no matter how he called out to her, Li Xi did not respond at all.
She felt as if her body had lost its weight, and she slowly floated towards an unknown realm.
Everything around me became blurry, with only the repeated calls echoing in my ears.
\"Xiao Xi, Xiao Xi...\"
The sound seemed to come from a distant place, yet it was so clear and real that she couldn't help but want to follow it.
She tried to concentrate and see her surroundings, but all she could see was endless darkness.
Her consciousness began to fade, and her memories gradually disappeared.
However, the calling grew stronger, as if trying to wake her from her slumber.
\"Xiao Xi!\"
Suddenly, a bright light pierced the darkness, illuminating her vision.
She squinted, trying to adjust to the sudden bright light.
When she finally opened her eyes, she found herself in an unfamiliar place.
It's like a huge garden, filled with exotic flowers and plants, exuding a fragrant aroma.
Not far away, a figure stood quietly with his back to her.
A strange mix of anticipation and nervousness welled up inside her, and her feet moved forward involuntarily.
As they drew closer, the figure became clearer; it turned out to be a young woman.
She wore a white robe, her long, ink-black hair cascading over her shoulders, exuding an elegant and noble air.
"Who...who are you?" Li Xi's lips trembled slightly, and her voice was somewhat hoarse, as if she was trying hard to control the fear and doubt in her heart. "How did you get here?"
The woman slowly turned around, her gaze calm and still, like a bottomless lake. When her face was fully revealed to Li Xi, he couldn't help but gasp—it was a face exactly like his own!
Her eyes were deep and gentle, as if they held endless stories; a faint smile played on her lips, as warm as the spring sun.
"I've been waiting for you for a long time, Xiaoxi," the woman said softly, her voice clear and melodious, like heavenly music.
Li Xi stared wide-eyed at the mysterious woman before her, her face filled with astonishment. Countless questions flooded her mind: Why did this person look exactly like her? Who was she? Where did she come from? And why was she waiting for her?
Just as Li Xi was lost in thought, the woman suddenly reached out and gently stroked her cheek. Her fingers were cold and soft, and the touch of them on Li Xi's skin sent a shiver down her spine.
"Don't be afraid, Xiaoxi." The woman's voice was full of comfort and warmth, like a spring breeze caressing the heart. "I won't hurt you."
Li Xi stared into her eyes, trying to find some answers within them. Her eyes were clear and transparent, like two dazzling gems, yet their true intentions were difficult to discern.
"Who exactly are you?" Li Xi asked again, her tone tinged with urgency and unease. "Why do you look exactly like me?"
The woman smiled slightly, without directly answering her question. Her smile seemed to contain a deeper meaning, making Li Xi even more confused.
Instead, he turned and walked into the flower bushes, picked a beautiful, vibrant flower, and handed it to her.
"This is for you, Xiaoxi," she said softly, her voice gentle and warm, as if they had known each other for a long time.
Li Xi accepted the flowers somewhat bewildered, feeling their softness and realness in her hands.
She gazed at the beautiful flower, but the doubts in her heart grew stronger.
"Tell me, who exactly are you?" she pressed, her voice tinged with urgency.
The woman looked at her, a barely perceptible smile flashing in her eyes, and then slowly said, "I am you, and you are me. We were originally one, only separated by time and space."
Her words were like a riddle, causing Li Xi to fall into deep thought.
