Seeing the bustling gambling den, Li Xi was momentarily at a loss for words. "Brother Feng, what's this?"
Feng Monian walked to a gambling table and said, "Let's give it a try."
Li Xi looked at Feng Monian, her heart filled with doubt. How could this usually calm and composed person suddenly become so impulsive, actually coming to the gambling house to try his luck?
Feng Monian sat down and beckoned to Li Xi, "Come and sit down."
His voice was deep and magnetic. He simply explained the rules to Li Xi, who, with a casual attitude, took out a few coins.
"Bet on big or small, place your bets and you're done!" the dealer shouted, attracting people around to place their bets.
Feng Monian, however, remained calm and composed. He stared at the dice, as if searching for some kind of pattern.
Li Xi casually tossed a few coins into the cup to bet on "small." The dice spun in the cup, and when they settled, everyone stared intently at the dealer who was about to reveal the dice.
"Small," the dealer said cheerfully, lifting the lid of the cup. Those who bet on big sighed in disappointment.
"Come on, place your bets now!" The dealer continued shaking the dice.
Li Xi tossed one tael of silver towards the "small" dice. The dice spun in the cup, and everyone held their breath in anticipation.
"Small," the dealer said calmly, lifting the lid of the cup. Those who bet on "big" sighed in disappointment.
Feng Monian was pleasantly surprised to see Li Xi win two games in a row. "Xiao Xi, have you played before?"
Li Xi shook her head, clutching the silver in her hand, wondering what to buy next. "First time playing,"
"How do you feel?" Feng Monian looked at her with a doting expression from behind his mask.
"It's quite fun, a bit addictive," Li Xi answered honestly. She genuinely found it quite fun, even though the winnings were small amounts of money; the unknown thrilled her.
The dealer secretly pondered to himself that tonight seemed to be something unusual.
He picked up the dice and examined them carefully, but found nothing unusual. Li Xi maintained a faint smile, as if everything was within her expectations.
He took a deep breath and decided to try again. The dice stopped again, rolling a "small".
The dealer and the onlookers were stunned. Winning more than ten rounds in a row was simply unbelievable!
Seeing this, the spectators at other tables also started placing bets following Li Xi's lead. After more than a dozen rounds, the bookmaker lost all of his winnings.
The dealer was now drenched in sweat, finally realizing that he had met his match.
Li Xi knew when to quit while she was ahead, and after pocketing the money she had won, she prepared to leave with Feng Monian.
Feng Monian kept staring at Li Xi's composed face, deeply admiring her calm demeanor.
However, he couldn't help but ask curiously, "Xiao Xi, do you perhaps have some kind of secret technique?"
Upon hearing this, Li Xi smiled slyly. She leaned close to Feng Monian's ear and whispered a secret to him: "Actually, I am a deity descended to earth."
Feng Monian was slightly taken aback, then burst into laughter.
Looking into Li Xi's bright, star-like eyes, a strange feeling welled up inside him.
Walking on the street as night fell, a gentle breeze brushed their cheeks, carrying away the fatigue of the day.
Li Xi was in a good mood. She simply had exceptional hearing; if she wanted to, she could clearly hear the size of the dice.
"Brother Feng, you didn't just bring me to the casino to win money tonight, did you?" She wasn't naive.
Feng Mo laughed out loud, "You saw right through me. Listen to what's coming from behind."
Li Xi pricked up her ears and listened carefully.
“Someone is following us,” she said with certainty.
“That’s right, the reason I brought you here tonight is also for this matter. That man is a regular at the gambling den, but he’s not very lucky and always loses. He’s gambled away his entire fortune.” Feng Monian pondered the information he had obtained.
Li Xi found it very interesting. "Could it be that he wants to discuss gambling techniques with me?"
Feng Monian originally planned to gamble himself, but he didn't expect Li Xi to have such good luck. "This guy is very strong. Seeing that you keep winning money, he will definitely try to pester you."
"Then wouldn't I be going back in trouble? Brother Feng, it's not just that, is it?" Li Xi knew that Feng Monian always had a purpose in doing things.
"This man is a master of disguise." Feng Monian paused for a moment, then continued, "He used to be a member of the Red Lotus Cult, but for some reason he later broke with the cult."
A glint of light flashed in Li Xi's eyes. "This person is quite talented. If we make good use of them..."
“Exactly, it’s up to you now.” Feng Monian looked at Li Xi.
A smile appeared on Li Xi's lips; she naturally understood what Feng Monian meant.
In this world, there are no useless resources, only people who don't know how to use them.
The Red Lotus Sect once had masters of disguise; this is a rare and valuable asset. "Don't worry, I'll make good use of them."
Li Xi and Feng Monian were whispering to each other, while the people behind them followed at a distance.
The autumn night breeze carried a hint of coolness, gently brushing against my cheeks and sending a chill through me. The leaves swayed softly in the wind, as if telling the story of autumn.
The distant moonlight spilled onto the quiet street, adding a touch of gentleness to the cold autumn night. Li Xi couldn't help but hug her arms tighter.
Feng Monian immediately took off his cloak and gently draped it over her shoulders.
"Ah, Brother Feng, how can this be? I'm a man too, and I'm quite strong." Li Xi tried to take off the cloak and return it to him.
Feng Monian took a few steps forward without making a sound, pointed to a noodle stall not far away and said, "Have a bowl of noodles first before going back."
Li Xi looked in the direction he was pointing and saw it was a beef noodle stall. On this chilly autumn night, a bowl of hot noodles might be a good choice.
"Brother Feng, do you think that person will continue to follow me?" Li Xi picked up a mouthful of noodles and was about to slurp it into her mouth when she looked up and found that the person had disappeared.
Feng Monian ate with great composure. He didn't answer immediately, but wiped his mouth with a tissue, his eyes revealing a deep meaning. He pondered for a moment and said, "Don't worry, he will try his best to contact you. You just need to subtly reveal your whereabouts, and I believe he will appear soon."
Since that was the case, she settled down and started eating her noodles. The shouts of the night market vendors drowned out their voices.
The person following them leaned against a wall not far away, trying to hide his presence as much as possible.
He followed the two men to a house, where they went in and never came out again, presumably this was their residence.
Seeing this, the man turned back. Now that he knew where the two lived, he would come back tomorrow to find an opportunity to talk to them.
“Brother Feng, it seems that person is heading back. Could it be that he has given up?” Li Xi and Feng Monian stood on the roof.
Li Xi watched the man's departing figure, feeling conflicted about whether to go up and find him directly.
"No need, he'll come back. Tomorrow, try to go to secluded places with few people." Feng Monian knew that the man would definitely come; gamblers will stop at nothing to win.
I go for a morning run nearby every day at dawn.
