Chapter 115 Situ Feng

Seeing that the room was a bit stuffy, Li Xi opened the window.

As night falls, lanterns sway in the breeze at the night market, while people come and go, creating a lively scene. The night is deep, and the lights are just coming on.

The lanterns hanging on the night market stalls swayed gently in the breeze, as if dancing to a warm rhythm.

The lights shone on the faces of every passerby, leaving shadows, some bright and some dark, as if telling their own stories.

She leaned against the window, gazing intently at everything with a deep look in her eyes.

She seemed to see the vendors in the night market, couples strolling around, and strangers passing by. Their laughter, their conversations, and the bustling crowds all became part of her thoughts.

She liked the vibrant atmosphere, which made Li Xi feel more connected to the world.

In her past life, after her mother passed away, she would feel depressed every time she returned home to an empty house.

The past years are like an unfinished movie, always surfacing in my mind unexpectedly.

"Come and have something to eat." Feng Monian said softly when he saw Li Xi staring out the window in a daze. He walked to her side and handed her a delicate pastry.

Li Xi snapped out of her reverie, smiled slightly, and accepted the pastry. She took a bite, and found it sweet and delicious, which immediately lifted her spirits.

Looking at her contented expression, Feng Monian felt a warmth in his heart. He sat quietly beside her, sharing this moment of tranquility with her.

The view outside the window remained beautiful, and sunlight streamed through the window, casting a beautiful shadow on the two of them. At that moment, time seemed to stand still, with only the two of them and this warm atmosphere.

Feng Monian hesitated for a moment, then asked softly, "Is something on your mind? Sometimes when I see you alone, you seem to be lost in thought, as if you're pondering something."

Li Xi was slightly taken aback, then gently shook her head and said with a smile, "It's nothing, I was just thinking about some things."

Feng Monian watched her silently, a hint of worry in his heart. He knew Li Xi was a strong person, but sometimes he could also see her inner vulnerability. He wanted to comfort her, but didn't know how to say it.

"Oh, it really is you two. I thought I was mistaken." The man walked over to the table where the two of them sat down.

"Oh, it's you." Li Xi was speechless when she saw the person. How come she always runs into this person no matter where she goes?

For Li Xi, a stranger had appeared in front of her three times, making her wonder if she and he had a special connection.

Nevertheless, Li Xi maintained a polite smile and greeted them, "Hello, what a coincidence, we meet again."

The other person seemed a little surprised, but quickly responded with a smile: "Yes, it's a small world, you always run into each other."

However, despite Feng Monian's obvious displeasure, the young man seemed oblivious to his emotions and continued talking to Li Xi as if nothing was wrong.

“We’ve met several times, but we haven’t officially gotten to know each other yet. My name is Situ Feng. Also, I don’t know how to address you two.”

Situ Feng introduced himself with a smile and extended his hand to Li Xi and Feng Monian.

Li Xi shook hands politely. "My name is Li Xi."

Feng Monian merely glanced at him indifferently, made no move, and said coldly, "Monian."

This scene made Situ Feng slightly embarrassed, but he quickly adjusted his mindset. He chuckled and said, "It's an honor to meet you two today. How about I treat you to a drink together?"

Li Xi and Feng Monian exchanged a glance, wondering what this person they had just met was up to. But seeing his sincerity, they decided to let him take the lead and see what tricks he was up to.

Situ Feng took a sip of wine and continued, "I am originally from the northern frontier. I left home for the capital hoping to make a name for myself. But as soon as I arrived, I was robbed and all my money was stolen."

He gave a wry smile and continued, "Exhausted and hungry, I collapsed by the roadside. Fortunately, Brother Li rescued me. I originally planned to go to Mu City to visit relatives, but I encountered bandits on the way."

He paused here, looked at Li Xi and Feng Monian and said, "Life is truly full of unknowns and variables. Fortunately, I met you two again, otherwise I would have lost even the few taels of silver that Brother Li gave me."

Li Xi and Feng Monian exchanged bewildered glances, finding the situation utterly incomprehensible. They couldn't fathom why anyone would risk their life for a mere few taels of silver.

Then Li Xi asked curiously, "Would you risk your life for a few taels of silver?"

Situ Feng remained stern, saying, "When I was at the height of my fame and adored by everyone, I was destitute and ignored on the streets of Kyoto. It was the few taels of silver you gave me that made me realize that true kindness still exists in this world."

After saying that, he looked at Li Xi with confidence, thinking to himself that this time he should be able to move her, right? There was also some genuine feeling in his voice.

Li Xi felt something was off. Why was she staring at her? Did she have an answer on her face?

"Young Master Situ is indeed a man of true character," Li Xi replied perfunctorily.

Feng Monian's expression remained gloomy as he plotted to find someone to uncover all the information about this person. The way he looked at Li Xi, in particular, made him extremely uneasy.

Li Xi was completely unaware of their thoughts. She felt that now that she was a man, only women would be interested in her.

Situ Feng enthusiastically poured wine for the two of them, one cup after another, seemingly wanting to get them drunk. However, unexpectedly, he himself succumbed to the alcohol and passed out at the table.

Looking at the drunken Situ Feng, Li Xi was at a loss for what to do, so she asked Feng Monian, "Brother Feng, what should we do with Situ Feng?"

After pondering for a moment, Feng Monian called the innkeeper and asked someone to carry Situ Feng to the nearby inn to rest.

"Brother Feng, what do you think this person's purpose is?" Li Xi believed that something was amiss.

Feng Mo gently picked up a handkerchief and carefully wiped Li Xi's mouth.

Clearly, this sudden action caught Li Xi off guard.

She couldn't help but mutter to herself: Why is Brother Feng treating her like this, like a child, feeding her pastries, pouring tea, and wiping her mouth?

Li Xi felt a little awkward. She reached for the handkerchief and said in a slightly stiff tone, "Brother Feng, I can do it myself..."

Feng Monian seemed oblivious to her discomfort and smiled faintly.

He looked at Li Xi, a hint of tenderness in his eyes, and said in a gentle tone, "It was just something I did, don't worry about it. Let's go back."

When she returned to Feng Monian's villa, her attendant said that Chairman Wang had gone back to the capital first and told Li Xi to do her job well, as she had other matters to attend to and would be going back first.

Li Xi was dumbfounded. What?
