Chapter 82 Prince An's Mansion

"Guyu, take care of the old lady. Make her some soft, tender meat porridge. Dissolve this bottle of pills in warm water and give it to her three times a day." After giving her instructions, she set off for Ren'an Hall.

Following the instructions, Gu Yu stewed a soft, tender meat porridge and carefully fed it to the old lady. She knew that although the old lady couldn't speak for the time being, she was conscious and able to perceive everything around her.

Today, Tian Tian is driving the carriage with Liu Fu's son, Liu Sicheng. Once he's familiar with the roads in the capital, he'll be in charge of the carriages from now on.

Li Xi bought quite a few carriages last time and rushed back to Tingfeng Courtyard, but she always travels on horseback.

When Meng Zhelan arrived at Ren'an Hall, she told them to come pick her up in the afternoon, and then asked Tian Tian to take Liu Sicheng around.

Sweetie and Liu Sicheng drove their carriage through the streets and alleys of Kyoto. She wanted Liu Sicheng to become familiar with the roads of Kyoto so that he could drive the carriage on his own in the future.

Ren'an Hall's pills are almost sold out, especially the Rejuvenating Pills, which have long been sold out. Customers keep coming in to ask when they will be available again.

Meng Zhelan finally had time to refine medicine. In the past few months, her father had occasionally held consultations at Ren'an Hall, attracting many people to seek medical treatment, thus gaining great fame.

Outside the door, the hours when Physician Meng would be seeing patients were posted. When he was there, he would often teach Doctor Liu and Bao Ge'er, and the two of them made great progress in their medical skills as a result.

"Master, customers come every day asking about the Rejuvenation Pill. When do you have time to refine more? We can't keep up with the demand."

Dr. Liu has been doing very well lately, and he is very fortunate to be sitting here in his clinic.

His monthly salary had increased several times over, and he received a bonus at the end of last year, plus many holiday gifts. His wife also helped out at the shop and earned two taels of silver a month, so he could finally send his daughter to a nearby girls' school to learn to read.

"Okay, I'll go and refine a few batches later." She mainly refines tonics now; she has already taught Doctor Liu and Bao Ge'er how to refine the other ordinary pills, and they usually do it themselves.

She wasn't afraid that they would learn the skills and then seek better opportunities elsewhere; if they learned them, it would be good for them to benefit others.

Several more stoves were added to the room, and appropriate amounts of medicinal herbs were placed inside. Meng Zhelan then flipped through medical books, waiting for the pills to be refined.

"Master, someone's looking for you outside," the young apprentice said, knocking on the door.

"Okay, I'll go shortly." Just then, the pills were finished being prepared. She had the apprentice pack them up and went out to greet the guests.

"It's you, Lu Yi. Is it your prince who invited you today as well?" Meng Zhelan was both amused and exasperated. How long had it been? Why was he looking for her again? Couldn't he have consulted the imperial physician if he needed something?

"Yes, Dr. Meng, thank you for your trouble." Lu Yi didn't want to come to Ren'an Hall anymore. His master always called Dr. Meng to come to the house for some trivial illnesses, even though there was a doctor in the manor.

"Okay, let's go." Meng Zhelan packed her medicine box, and Lu Yi quickly took it from her.

"Dr. Meng, please."

A magnificent carriage sent by the Prince An's Mansion slowly drove up the bustling street, attracting the attention of passersby.

This carriage was the exclusive vehicle of the Prince An's residence, its exquisite patterns and magnificent decorations showcasing the noble status of the Prince An's family. Inside the carriage, Meng Zhelan closed her eyes to rest.

She wore an elegant light green dress, like a tender summer leaf swaying in the breeze. Her face was delicate, and her eyes shone like stars.

This was the first time Meng had ever ridden in such a magnificent and extravagant carriage, where one could lie down, sleep, and even roll around a couple of times.

Has Prince An lost his mind? Sending such a carriage to pick her up for a consultation when she's just an ordinary doctor.

When Meng Zhelan arrived, Prince An was enjoying the cool air in the pavilion, looking at the lotus pond in front of him.

Sunlight shimmered on the lake's surface, and the lotus flowers swayed gently in the breeze. He felt an unprecedented tranquility and contentment at the lotus pond.

"Greetings to Your Highness." Meng Zhelan curtsied.

"No need for formalities, Doctor Meng, you're too kind. We're practically friends, aren't we?" Prince An turned his head and smiled at Meng Zhelan.

"Of course, Your Highness flatters me. I wouldn't call myself a confidant, but if Your Highness needs anything, I will do my best to help," Meng Zhelan replied with a smile.

“That’s wonderful. Since we’re close friends, I’ll be frank. I admire you, not only for your superb medical skills, but also for your intelligence and integrity,” Prince An said calmly.

Huh? You like him? What kind of liking? This is so sudden!

Meng Zhelan was stunned, not expecting Prince An to be so direct, and didn't know how to respond for a moment. She had never imagined having any emotional entanglement with this powerful prince.

After a moment, Meng Zhelan calmly said, "Thank you for your affirmation, Your Highness. I also admire your generosity and extraordinary demeanor. It's like you adore my family."

Meng Zhelan didn't know what kind of affection he had for her; she only accepted affection that was like that of family.

For a moment, the atmosphere became somewhat tense. Prince An chuckled, "Doctor Meng, you are truly amusing. Come and take a look at me; I haven't been feeling energetic these past two days."

Meng Yun lowered her eyes, stood up and walked to Prince An's side.

She reached out and gently pressed her hand on Prince An's pulse.

Her fingers were as cold as ice, yet they gave Prince An a strange sense of comfort.

"Your Highness, your pulse is somewhat irregular, it seems you've been worrying too much lately, causing your heart fire to be excessive. A few doses should do the trick. Your Highness should also go out for walks more often; life is about movement," Meng Yun said softly.

“Life lies in movement? That’s an interesting saying. Did you say that?” Prince An pondered the statement.

"Oh, that's what Xiaoxi said. She's always using these novel phrases, but they make a lot of sense." Meng Zhelan said proudly. Her Xiaoxi was the best, and she was very proud of her.

“Young Master Li is quite interesting. Are you fond of him?” Prince An asked with some dissatisfaction, his hand gripping the bracelet so tightly it made a crackling sound.

"Ah? Your Highness is joking. Xiao Xi is my sworn brother, we are like brothers." She was speechless at Prince An's nonsensical remarks.

"Oh? My sworn brother, I understand." Prince An seemed lost in thought, gazing at the lotus pond.

"Your Highness, if there's nothing else, I'll take my leave now. My family is waiting for me to return for dinner." She longed to go home.

"That's wonderful, having family waiting for you, unlike me, who has to eat all three meals a day by myself." Prince An looked hurt.

"Your Highness is too kind. If you don't mind, you can come and join us for some fun. We just moved into our new house yesterday," Meng Zhelan said dismissively.

She knew that someone of Prince An's noble status would disdain associating with commoners.

“Alright, let’s go.” Prince An stood up and walked outside like a whirlwind.

What? Things shouldn't have turned out this way, but the words have already been spoken, so there's no choice but to bite the bullet and deal with it.

"Lu Yi, Lu Er, go to the storeroom and get some gifts to accompany us." Prince An gestured for her to be helped into the carriage.

“Your Highness, if your body really can’t take it, you don’t have to force yourself. You can do it next time.” Meng Zhelan made a “last-ditch effort.”

"It's alright, I can manage this short distance."

Throughout the journey, the carriage was so quiet that you could hear the other person drinking tea.

Passing by Ren'an Hall, Meng Zhelan gave a brief instruction and returned to the carriage to continue her journey to Tingfeng Courtyard.
