The next morning.
When Gu Fan and Jiang Yumeng woke up, Old Gu was already in the hall.
He came to take them back.
"You're awake? Come on, have some breakfast first," Grandpa Gu said gently.
Gu Fan nodded and sat down at the dining table with Jiang Yumeng.
Two days of holiday have passed, and tomorrow is the day to go back to school. Both of them are a little reluctant to leave Grandpa Gu.
After breakfast, Gu Fan and Jiang Yumeng had already packed their things when they got up.
As the luggage was being loaded into the car, Grandpa Gu watched from the side, his weathered eyes filled with a hint of reluctance.
"Grandpa, we're leaving now. We'll come see you again next time we have a holiday. Please take care of yourself," Gu Fan said.
"Don't worry, Grandpa will be careful. You should also study hard and get along well at school," Grandpa Gu instructed.
"Grandpa, Gu Fan and I will miss you!" Jiang Yumeng said sweetly, holding Grandpa Gu's hand.
"Oh, good, good, my dear girl, you must come and visit this old man often." Old Master Gu smiled kindly.
"Yes, definitely."
Gu Fan and Jiang Yumeng got into the car, which slowly drove out of the city.
They looked back at the house as it receded into the distance, their hearts filled with emotion.
"Senior, are you reluctant to part with Grandpa?"
Seeing Gu Fan's melancholy expression, Jiang Yumeng couldn't help but hold his hand.
Gu Fan smiled and said, "Of course I'm reluctant to part with him. I was raised by my grandfather since I was a child, and I have a very deep bond with him."
"Then we'll come back to visit him often in the future," Jiang Yumeng said with a smile.
Gu Fan nodded: "That's true."
Mr. Gu, who was driving, glanced at the rearview mirror and smiled slightly.
The next day, Gu Fan and Jiang Yumeng boarded the high-speed train back to school.
Gu Fan bought a seat next to Jiang Yumeng. He let Jiang Yumeng sit in the window seat and sat in the aisle seat himself.
It takes two hours to get from Yucheng to Guangcheng.
Perhaps because she didn't sleep well last night, Jiang Yumeng fell asleep leaning against Gu Fan not long after getting in the car.
Gu Fan glanced at the girl's sleeping face and smiled gently, his gaze softening.
The carriage was mostly filled with university students. After all, the holiday was over and everyone was returning to school. Because they were university students, the carriage was very quiet.
We arrived in Guangcheng a little after 11 a.m.
Jiang Yumeng had slept the whole way, and now she was much more energetic, walking ahead with light steps, while Gu Fan dragged a suitcase in each hand behind her.
"It's so hot. It's much cooler in the village."
Under the scorching sun, Jiang Yumeng opened her umbrella and held it between herself and Gu Fan.
A Maybach parked not far away attracted a lot of attention.
An elderly man in a suit stood by the car door holding a black umbrella. When he saw Jiang Yumeng, he took the initiative to go to her.
"Miss, you must be tired from your journey."
Jiang Yumeng's eyes lit up: "Grandpa Pan, what brings you here?"
Butler Pan smiled and said, "The master sent me to pick up Miss and take her back to school."
"Hehe, is my dad in Guangcheng?" Jiang Yumeng asked happily upon hearing this.
Butler Pan smiled and said, "Sir has a villa in Guangcheng. In the future, when Miss has time off, she doesn't have to go back to the capital. She can just go to the villa to stay."
Hearing this, Jiang Yumeng was a little surprised, but this was typical of her father.
At this moment, Butler Pan's gaze fell on Gu Fan, and he nodded with a smile: "Mr. Gu."
Gu Fan smiled and said, "Grandpa Pan, just call me Xiao Gu. Mengmeng and I are both juniors."
Butler Pan nodded with a smile: "Okay, let's get in the car now."
Gu Fan put the suitcase in the trunk and got into the back seat with Jiang Yumeng.
After escorting Jiang Yumeng back to her dormitory, Gu Fan turned around and went back to his own dormitory.
Liu Qian was the only one in the dormitory.
Gu Fan was somewhat surprised: "Old Liu, haven't you gone out to have fun these past few days?"
Liu Qian shook his head: "No, why would I go out? It's so sunny, and it's a waste of money."
He's been saving a lot lately because his living expenses are almost gone due to his relationship, so he's been staying at school these past few days.
Liu Qian suddenly said, "Old Gu, let me tell you, my ex-girlfriend contacted me yesterday."
Gu Fan raised an eyebrow: "What? You want to go back to your ex?"
Liu Qian's lips twitched: "What are you talking about? Do you think I'm that kind of person? I've already rejected her."
Gu Fan was somewhat surprised: "So she really came to get back together with you?"
Liu Qian scratched his head, looking dejected, and said, "Getting back together... well, not really. He just asked me out for a meal. You know I'm almost out of living expenses. If we go out to eat, my buddy has to pay. How could he possibly agree to that?"
Gu Fan chuckled: "You've already broken up, why are you still asking me out to dinner? Are you trying to use me as a meal ticket?"
Liu Qian said awkwardly, "She was quite proactive, saying that the hotel was already booked..."
"Holy crap! Not a guy?"
Gu Fan's eyes widened: "Is that so?"
If we can't be lovers, can we be best friends?
Indeed, Liu Qian had ample resources in this regard.
Liu Qian sighed: "Actually, I know her more or less, so I plan to cut ties completely."
Gu Fan gave a thumbs up: "Make a decisive decision when necessary!"
After being away for three days, his desk was covered in dust. Gu Fan tidied it up briefly, took the quilt outside to air it out, and then sat down at the computer to start doing his homework.
He has a course that requires a 1500-word paper, due next week.
Just then, my phone beeped.
Gu Fan glanced at it curiously and found that it was sent by He Wanzhou.
Senior Sister He Wanzhou: Let me know when the time comes.
He replied, puzzled: Senior Sister He, I just arrived, what's wrong?
