Chapter 214 Clash of Veterans

September 30th.

That morning, Jiang Yumeng had classes.

Gu Fan had packed his luggage early and came to the teaching building to wait for her.

Her classroom is on the first floor.

Gu Fan noticed that many people came to class dragging suitcases, so they could leave as soon as get out of class ended.

At 10:30, get out of class ended, and students gradually left the classroom, ready to begin their short holiday.

Jiang Yumeng wore a dress that accentuated her graceful figure, drawing attention.

And Du Keke was with her.

Gu Fan waved to her.

The latter responded with a sweet smile.

The girl's smile was so captivating that it stunned many passing boys.

"Brother, you must have been waiting long, haven't you?"

The girl, oblivious to the stares of others, nestled into Gu Fan's arms.

Gu Fan hugged her tightly and smiled indulgently: "It wasn't long. Were you tired from class?"

"I'm so tired. The teacher's lectures sound like chanting scriptures. I almost fell asleep."

The girl's coquettish manner.

"You've worked hard. You can sleep in the car for a bit."

"Uh-huh!"

Du Keke, who was being ignored, rolled her eyes in exasperation.

"Hey, hey, hey, have you guys forgotten there's someone here?"

She protested.

The two then released each other. Gu Fan looked at Du Keke and asked in surprise, "Huh? What are you doing here?"

Du Keke: "..."

Okay, okay! Is this how you play it?

Jiang Yumeng chuckled, "Coco, are you really not going back?"

Upon hearing this, Gu Fan asked in surprise, "You're staying on at the school?"

He had assumed that Du Keke would go back with Jiang Yumeng, but to his surprise, she didn't.

Du Keke shrugged: "I'm not going back. There's nothing fun there. It's better to stay at school."

Jiang Yumeng nodded: "Okay then..."

Suddenly, she teased in a low voice, "Are you planning to go on a trip with Qin Ye?"

Du Keke blushed: "W-what are you saying? I don't understand what you're saying!"

Jiang Yumeng, however, revealed a gossipy expression. She knew Du Keke well, and her current expression proved that she had guessed correctly.

Isn't this girl in love with Qin Ye?

"Alright, alright, you guys should hurry back, or you'll get stuck in traffic."

Du Keke waved her hand dismissively.

"Okay, then we'll head back. Coco, have fun these past few days."

"Alright! You too."

...

After saying goodbye to Du Keke, Gu Fan helped carry the luggage, and the two arrived at the school gate.

The driver had been waiting for quite some time.

"Miss, young master."

Jiang Yumeng nodded.

Gu Fan and the driver put the suitcase into the trunk.

The car started and drove away.

The highway from Guangzhou to Beijing is quite long, but there wasn't much traffic congestion, unlike other highways. Drivers are now eating instant noodles that cost only a dozen yuan on the road.

...

The capital city.

Jiang Group.

In the CEO's office, Lao Jiang was working with his head down when suddenly there was a knock on the door.

"Come in."

Old Jiang responded calmly.

The door opened, and a secretary walked in, saying respectfully, "President, the chairman of the Fei Group wishes to see you."

Old Jiang frowned slightly, then said, "I will not see any guests."

The secretary was somewhat troubled: "But he has come several times already, and this time he said he won't leave until he sees him."

"..."

Old Jiang was speechless.

After thinking for a moment, he said, "Let him go to the reception room."

"OK."

After working for a while, Lao Jiang finally got up.

Upon arriving at the reception room, he met Fei Xuan's father.

Old Jiang's expression changed, and he put on a professional, polite smile: "Hehe, what a rare guest! What brings you here?"

Mr. Fei was initially somewhat displeased, but he couldn't show it. Upon seeing Lao Jiang, he smiled and said, "Lao Jiang, it's really not easy to see you."

Old Jiang laughed and said, "I've been so busy lately, sitting in the office all day long, I haven't even had time to pour myself a cup of tea."

Mr. Fei's lips twitched, thinking to himself, "I don't believe you for a second!"

You clearly don't want to see me!

During his time back in China, he could clearly sense that Lao Jiang was deliberately distancing himself from him, a feeling that made him somewhat uncomfortable.

Unfortunately, the Jiang and Fei families are now roughly equal in power, so he doesn't have much of an advantage over them.

"Old Jiang, I'm here again for the same reason as last time. The project is about to start soon, and it's not too late to join. I hope you'll seriously consider it!"

He extended the invitation with a smile.

Old Jiang knew exactly what he was up to. Besides, his wife had already warned him, so he was fully aware of the situation.

Helplessly, he said, "Old Fei, it's not that I don't want to join, but my Jiang family has absolutely nothing to do with this! Besides, the company is at a critical juncture and doesn't have any extra funds. I'm sorry, I'm willing but unable to help."

Mr. Fei said earnestly, "To be honest, there are risks involved in this investment, but the profits are also incredibly high. If we can take the plunge, there are at least tens of billions of yuan in profits waiting for us to share!"

Old Jiang sneered inwardly: "You've painted a pretty big picture of the future, but you've glossed over the risks, haven't you?"

He wasn't optimistic about this investment and knew what the other party meant: they just wanted to take a gamble and seize this opportunity to surpass the Jiang family. However, he himself didn't want to take such a big risk.

They're all seasoned veterans.

They still wanted to use personal relationships to persuade him to participate, morally blackmailing him into the situation.
