Chapter 44 Father-Daughter Dialogue

It was already 1 p.m. when we arrived at Tamaki Station.

Gu Fan came out of the station, his legs aching from hunger.

He ate only a bag of bread and a glass of water for breakfast.

The station was a half-hour drive from his apartment complex, so Gu Fan decided to eat before going back.

There are restaurants near the station, but the hot weather makes it hard to muster any appetite.

Gu Fan entered a noodle shop.

Lanzhou noodles.

Gu Fan didn't know where this brand originated, but the taste was quite good.

The waiters and others were dressed in special costumes, giving off an exotic vibe.

"Handsome, what would you like to order?" A young woman asked Gu Fan with bright eyes.

Gu Fan glanced at the menu. The names looked good, but he didn't really have a desire to eat them. In the end, he only ordered a signature ramen.

It was very hot, but the air conditioning in the noodle shop calmed my restless heart instantly.

He took a moment to send Jiang Yumeng a message, letting her know that he had arrived.

The latter was still on the highway at this time, and Beijing was still quite far from Guangzhou.

Soon, Gu Fan went to the front desk to pick up his food.

"Uh, well, I don't think I ordered any Coke." Gu Fan looked at the Coke on the plate, somewhat surprised.

The young woman smiled and said, "Oh, this is a free gift."

Gu Fan thanked him politely.

However, when he saw that the other guests did not receive any so-called "gifts," his expression became somewhat strange.

If nothing unexpected happens, it was probably the young lady who treated him.

This left Gu Fan speechless.

Wow, that damn good looks! My charm is just too irresistible!

After finishing the noodles, Gu Fan felt like he had come back to life.

I hailed a ride on Didi and headed towards my neighborhood.

The security guard in the community recognized Gu Fan and greeted him with a smile as soon as he got out of the car.

"Oh, Xiao Gu, are you on vacation?"

Gu Fan smiled and nodded: "Yes, Grandpa Zhou is on duty today."

Grandpa Zhou chuckled and said, "I really envy you young people, you can even have holidays, unlike us who still have to go to work."

Gu Fan smiled and waved goodbye to the old man.

I took the elevator to my floor, took out my key, and opened the door.

As soon as I entered, I saw Old Gu sitting on the sofa watching the news.

"Dad, Mom's not home?" Gu Fan greeted him.

Old Gu, his eyes glued to the TV, didn't even turn his head: "You should be at work. Are you on holiday?"

Gu Fan nodded.

Back in his room, Gu Fan immediately turned on the air conditioner, and in that instant it felt like he had returned from hell to heaven.

"How can we survive in this weather without air conditioning!"

Gu Fan took off his shirt and lay down on the bed.

The fatigue from rushing to catch the train quickly took hold, and before I knew it, I had fallen asleep.

On the other side.

The capital city.

Jiang Yumeng also returned home.

Old Jiang was sitting on the luxurious sofa in the hall, holding his phone and cursing.

"Damn! Are those kids on the other side elementary school? They're so bad at the game, how dare they even play?"

"I'll do it..."

Old Jiang, who was cursing and swearing, suddenly caught sight of Jiang Yumeng out of the corner of his eye. The next moment, as if his face had changed, he became calm and gave her a kind smile: "My dear daughter is back? Are you tired?"

Jiang Yumeng rolled her eyes: "Dad, don't do this in front of me. Aren't you tired of pretending?"

Old Jiang's face stiffened, looking somewhat embarrassed.

"Don't you have to go to work today?" Jiang Yumeng sat down on the sofa, and the maid immediately poured tea for her.

Old Jiang coughed lightly and said, "Isn't it a holiday? People get tired from working all the time and need to rest."

Jiang Yumeng was somewhat surprised: "Such a big company, and you, as the boss, are giving people time off... is that... okay?"

Old Jiang glared at him: "What's wrong with taking a holiday? Aren't bosses human too? Is it wrong for me to take a holiday?"

After saying that, he looked at his beloved daughter with a wronged expression: "Daughter, are you seeing someone else outside? Why don't you care about your father anymore?"

You weren't like this before!

Jiang Yumeng's face flushed slightly: "Why are you joking like that, old man!"

As if remembering something, a strange light flashed in Old Jiang's eyes: "By the way, how are you doing at school in Guangcheng? Are you living comfortably? Are you eating well? Have you made any friends? Do you have enough money?"

Listening to her father's nagging, which sounded like a mantra, Jiang Yumeng had a terrible headache. She said helplessly, "I'm doing fine at school. University is very free. Yeah, that's all."

"Really? Have you met anyone you like?" Old Jiang asked gossipily.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Yumeng blushed, clearly embarrassed.

"Judging from your appearance, you're pregnant?" Old Jiang smiled slightly.

Jiang Yumeng looked at her father somewhat nervously: "So, if, I mean if, I meet someone I like, will you stop us from being together?"

Old Jiang was taken aback: "Why would you have such an idea?"

Jiang Yumeng pursed her lips: "That's how it's always written in novels! The girl's parents look down on the boy's circumstances, do everything they can to prevent them from being together, and finally cruelly break them up."

At this point, the way she looked at Lao Jiang changed instantly, as if he were that kind of person.

Old Jiang's face darkened, and he said with displeasure, "Daughter, is this how you think of your dear father? That's just a novel, and besides, I never said you couldn't date!"

Jiang Yumeng was taken aback, then looked somewhat suspicious: "Really?"

Old Jiang affectionately patted her head and said, "Our family wouldn't do such a thing. If you like her, go for it. I trust my precious daughter's judgment. Don't be afraid, the family will back you up. Go for it!"
