It was past eleven o'clock when I got home from the party.
Gu Fan had drunk quite a bit, and his face was flushed from the alcohol, but he could still hold his liquor and his mind remained clear.
"You brat, you've been drinking again?" Gu's mother was both angry and heartbroken to see her son so drunk.
Gu Fan chuckled: "Mom, you're still awake?"
Mrs. Gu rolled her eyes at him: "Weren't we waiting for you? Come and sit down, I'll get you some water."
Gu Fan sat on the sofa, swaying slightly, and leaned back to rest with his eyes closed.
A little while later, Mrs. Gu brought over a glass of water.
Gu Fan took a sip of water and felt much better in his throat.
He looked at his mother's figure, and his heart was filled with warmth.
"Mom, you've worked so hard," Gu Fan said softly.
Mrs. Gu turned to look at her son, her eyes full of love: "Silly child, why are you being so polite with your mother? Drink less alcohol in the future, it's bad for your health."
Gu Fan nodded, "Okay, Mom, you should get some rest too."
Mrs. Gu smiled and said, "Okay, you should wash up and go to bed now."
Gu Fan stood up and walked into the room.
In the bathroom, he looked at himself in the mirror. His face was still a little flushed, but his eyes were clear.
“Xu Jie…”
He muttered to himself, shook his head, and gave a bitter smile: "So much time has passed."
After taking a shower, Gu Fan lay in bed, reflecting on the gathering that day.
He heard from his childhood friends that his high school classmates were going to have a big reunion on New Year's Eve, and their homeroom teacher would also be there, but they hadn't notified them in the class group chat yet.
Although these gatherings are not very meaningful, they are just a way to see how everyone's lives are going.
Apart from his childhood friends, Gu Fan became unfamiliar with everyone else.
After all, it's been almost two years since we last contacted each other.
Gu Fan rolled over, torn between whether or not to attend the party.
He took out his phone, found the class group that hadn't been updated in a long time, and set it to "Do Not Disturb." By then, the group was already buzzing with conversation.
Looking at the chat history, Gu Fan felt somewhat unfamiliar with it.
After thinking for a moment, he decided to go anyway, since high school was indeed a wonderful memory.
Just as he was about to put down his phone and go to sleep, a message popped up.
It was sent by Xu Jie, asking if he was going to the party.
Xu Jie, this girl, was Gu Fan's deskmate in high school. The two had a good relationship, but they maintained a pure friendship. After all, they were both young and naive at the time, and even if they had a slight flutter in their hearts, they didn't dare to express it.
Because of the rumors that the two were dating, Xu Jie took the initiative to suggest to the homeroom teacher that they change seats. Since then, the two have rarely interacted in order to avoid suspicion.
Everyone has regrets from high school. For Gu Fan, this might not be considered one, but the memory cannot be erased.
Gu Fan thought for a moment and replied, "I will go."
Xu Jie quickly replied: "How have you been lately?"
Just as Gu Fan was about to reply, a message notification popped up saying that a friend had been added. Gu Fan looked and saw that it was Xu Jie.
He glanced at it and ignored it, simply replying, "Yeah, it's fine."
Xu Jie didn't send any more messages for a long time.
Gu Fan was also feeling the effects of the alcohol, and his head suddenly felt dizzy.
Just then, a video call came in.
Upon seeing the two large characters for "Mengmeng," Gu Fan's lips curled into a smile, and he answered the phone.
Jiang Yumeng's adorable face appeared on camera: "Hi, senior!"
Gu Fan grinned foolishly at her: "Still not asleep?"
Jiang Yumeng said with a grin, "I just finished taking a shower, senior. Hey? Why is your face so red?"
Gu Fan smiled and replied, "I had a little wine."
"Drinking again?!" Jiang Yumeng stared at him with wide eyes, looking at him resentfully. "You drink without telling me, Comrade Gu Fan, what's going on with you?"
"Hehe, I was wrong, my dear wife, please calm down," Gu Fan said with a smile.
"Pah, who's your wife? Don't call me that!" Jiang Yumeng denied arrogantly, but the upturned corners of her mouth betrayed her.
Gu Fan laughed and said, "I went drinking with my childhood friends. There were no girls, just a bunch of guys."
"Okay, okay, I know!"
Jiang Yumeng blinked, and her mood instantly improved.
While they were chatting, Gu Fan told her about his high school reunion.
After listening, Jiang Yumeng pondered for a moment, then said, "There must be a lot of girls at the high school reunion, right?"
Gu Fan thought for a moment and nodded: "There are about thirty."
Thirty!
Jiang Yumeng was immediately displeased.
Her senior is so handsome, wouldn't he be in danger if other girls set their sights on him?
It wasn't that she didn't trust him, but that she didn't trust those women!
Women understand women best!
"No, I want to go too!" Jiang Yumeng pouted.
Gu Fan had a headache. "What are you going there for? They're all my old classmates, you don't even know them."
"I don't care, I'm going!" Jiang Yumeng started to whine, "I'm your girlfriend, what's wrong with bringing a family member?"
Gu Fan was both amused and exasperated: "Fine, fine, I'll take you, okay?"
Hearing that Gu Fan had agreed, Jiang Yumeng was as happy as a child: "Hehe, senior is the best!"
Gu Fan shook his head helplessly, thinking to himself that things were going to get interesting.
Gu Fan didn't even know when he fell asleep; he drifted off to sleep and lost consciousness. When he woke up, it was already the next day.
Gu Fan was busy all day. There were still two days until the Chinese New Year, and he needed to buy some New Year's goods.
After finishing breakfast, Gu Fan went to the market with Lao Gu.
And on the morning of Lunar New Year's Eve.
Gu Fan was just going downstairs to throw out the trash when he was suddenly stunned by what he saw.
Seeing Gu Fan's reaction, Jiang Yumeng winked playfully: "How about it, senior? Are you surprised?"
Gu Fan nodded blankly: "Surprise, what a surprise! How did you get here?"
Aren't high-speed trains and airplanes not operating normally right now?
Jiang Yumeng smiled and said, "Of course I came by car. The butler brought me here."
Gu Fan asked doubtfully, "Are your aunt and uncle sure they trust you to come?"
On Lunar New Year's Eve, people usually have a reunion dinner with their families, right?
Jiang Yumeng pouted: "They were a little reluctant, but I convinced them!"
Gu Fan was very curious about how the other party had persuaded her parents.
"Oh, don't worry about such details. Didn't I say I was going to the class reunion with my senior?" Jiang Yumeng said, tilting her head.
Gu Fan smiled wryly: "Are you really going?"
He genuinely believed the other person was joking.
"Yes, of course!"
Jiang Yumeng nodded, then rushed into Gu Fan's arms and said sweetly, "Did you miss me, senior?"
Gu Fan was taken aback, then his gaze softened: "Yes, of course I want to."
