Liu Qian looked up at the sky with lifeless eyes.

Just then, his phone rang.
It was his mother calling.
Liu Qian answered the phone and smiled, "Mom, what brings you to call me?"
Mrs. Liu was a slightly plump middle-aged woman, dressed plainly, and had a face that seemed to bring good fortune to her husband.
She smiled and said, "You little rascal, you haven't called me in so long!"
Liu Qian was both amused and exasperated: "What would we even talk about on the phone? We can't exactly ask you for money, can we?"
To my shame, during my university years, many of us would make a phone call to our parents, and most of the time it was because we were out of money for living expenses.
