The ship's walls are covered with messages: "Either bloom on Venus, or become cosmic dust"

When the lead ship, the USS Resilience, arrived at Venus, the captain's log read:
"We forged our sword from the scrap iron of men, tempered it with the life-blood of women—and now it is thrust into the earth of Venus."
