Chapter 4. Super Family and Farm Invitation
As soon as Teacher Lin finished talking about "unique", a girl with two lively pigtails sitting in the front row of the image frame couldn't wait to raise her hand, her cheeks flushed, and she was so excited that she almost jumped up from the hover chair.
"Teacher! Teacher Lin! Let me tell you about our family!" She opened her mouth almost as soon as Teacher Lin signaled her to do so, her voice like the clear sound of wind chimes, "Our family is a super-big family!" She opened her arms exaggeratedly, successfully attracting everyone's attention.
"In our family, we have a great-great-grandfather, a great-great-aunt, a great-great-grandfather, a great-great-aunt, a great-aunt, a grandmother, three great-aunts, my mother, and two aunts. We all live together!" She recited a dizzying list of titles as if they were her own treasures, counting them off with her fingers, her speech as fast as jumping musical notes. "And in my generation, both aunts gave birth to two children each. Although we don't have the same mother, we climb trees to pick fruit and chase Moomoo beast cubs together every day. It's so lively! Our family really loves children!"
The online classroom fell into silence for a second, and then burst into exclamations louder and more uniform than ever before: "Wow!!!" This family structure, as complex as the genealogy of an ancient fairy tale, was obviously beyond the daily imagination of most students.
"Oh my God!" a girl couldn't help but exclaim, her voice filled with incredible curiosity, "Then...then how old is your great-grandfather this year?"
Upon hearing this, the girl called Yuzu raised her chin high, her eyes gleaming with pride, like a proud little skylark. "The Grand Ancestor is 348 years old this year!" She paused deliberately, listening with satisfaction to the gasps coming from the communicator, and added, "And she still performs a set of her ancestral 'Starlight Fitness Fist' every morning without fail! Her movements are even more agile than those of the knights in the holographic game!"
Teacher Lin also smiled in amazement, her tone tinged with admiration, "Youzi lives in a large, vibrant family. This is a beautiful testament to the continuous improvement of our genes and our long, healthy lives. Family ties can extend very, very long, allowing loved ones to stay together for long periods of time and share the joy of life."
"Then how big is your house?" another girl asked after recovering from her shock at his advanced age and advanced boxing skills, her imagination seemed a little behind.
The pride on Yuzu's face almost overflowed the screen: "Actually, we don't live in the city. We live on the outskirts of the city and have a very big farm!" She opened her arms and drew a big circle, "We have our own orchard and vegetable garden, and we also raise a lot of Moomon and Baamon! The air is full of the smell of green grass and sweet fruit! It's so much fun! Everyone is welcome to come and play during the holidays!" Her invitation was sincere and warm, as if she could already see the scene of her classmates running and playing on the farm.
At that moment, all the biological concepts of genes and lifespan seemed to melt into the simplest and warmest yearning for "home" and "bustle." Several girls were already whispering, "I want to feed the Moo Beast!" "I want to see the three-hundred-year-old Zuzu box!"
Teacher Lin concluded with a smile, "Thank you very much for sharing, Youzi. This is truly a great example of a large family full of vitality and love. It seems our class's first extracurricular activity has been successfully planned."
The classroom was immediately filled with expectant laughter and happy chatter, and one could almost imagine the longing glint in the girls' eyes.
Amidst the bustle, Ruixi listened quietly, her fingertips unconsciously stroking the soft edge of the study cabin. She felt that her family's situation was so ordinary that there was nothing worth sharing.
Her family is a typical three-generation household: her grandmother, who is over 200 years old and has just retired and is passionate about community gardening and senior travel; her mother, who is over 100 years old and has a stable career, is busy but always comes home for dinner; and her 25-year-old sister, who is extremely smart but always feels that everything around her is "inefficient and useless" and seems to be living in another channel.
As for herself, she is an ordinary girl who is still in school and occasionally worries about her menstrual period and studies. At home, she has a diligent robot housekeeper named Fern and several AI assistants with different functions and unremarkable personalities.
Everything was the most standard, common template of Venusian society. There were no thrilling stories, no family farms so vast that they required a map to find them. But by the end of this class on the diversity of life, this very ordinariness had brought her a sense of grounded peace, like the warm afternoon sunlight streaming through the window.
A soft crystal sound effect sounded on time, gently interrupting the girls' reverie. Teacher Lin's holographic image smiled and said goodbye to everyone: "That's all for today's class. Remember, no matter how your life came to you, or what kind of family you live in, it is unique and worth cherishing."
