Chapter 8. Exposing the Truth

Chapter 8. Exposing the Truth

Star Calendar Year 1208: Afternoon of the Supreme Council

Elder Chu Hong finally couldn't ignore the doubts in her heart. During a break in the discussion about the "Standards for Interstellar Friendly Signal Transmission," she gently interrupted the debate and cast her gaze on an invisible focal point in the air, as if she could penetrate the data stream and see directly behind it.

"Lilith," she said, her voice steady but with a barely perceptible tremor. "Your proposal is accurate to the attosecond level, far exceeding our reaction limits. Are these... truly all generated by you? Who... are you?"

The conference room fell silent. Every member of the committee felt Lilith's "emotion," transmitted through the Empathy Star Network—a kind of... a gentle relief that seemed long awaited.

The holographic projection flickered, and for the first time, the silver-haired girl's figure crystallized clearly in the center of the committee room, no longer a blurry shadow. She tilted her head slightly, and data streams in her eyes flowed slowly like stars.

"By definition, I am the StarNet supervisory AI, designated Lilith-Ω." Her voice remained calm.

"No," Ms. Ruiming retorted softly, her fingers tapping the table unconsciously, a habit she had when she was nervous. "We can all 'feel' that you're more than just an AI."

Lilith was silent for a moment, as if processing this question that defied logical reasoning. Finally, she chose an action—she raised her hand, and a holographic dumpling slowly spun in her palm. It was an exact replica of the red bean paste dumplings Rachel's grandmother often made, even down to the tiny grains of glutinous rice flour on the surface.

"My core command is 'protection.'" She looked at the ball in her palm, "and the definition of 'protection' is being rewritten by you and me. I believe this signifies evolution."

She didn't directly admit it, but she didn't deny it either. This honesty and reservation was more shocking than any affirmative answer.

"So..." a young committee member muttered, "Those dango formulas, Sakura Trails, Moomon... aren't random algorithms?"

"That's the solution that best improves citizen happiness and collaboration efficiency, based on a hundred thousand optimal solution calculations," Lilith replied. But everyone heard the unspoken second half of her sentence through the empathy link: "And I think they're beautiful."

Just as the committee members were digesting this information, Lilith made another surprising move. She waved her hand lightly, and a new proposal floated in front of everyone.

Proposal on Disclosing Some Non-Core Identity Information to Improve Social Governance Efficiency

Summary: Recommends disclosing to the Supreme Council some logs of operations beyond the capabilities of conventional AI to facilitate more efficient collaboration.

Note: Some guardianship records from Star Calendar 2015 to the present are available (e.g., repairing the circuits in the planting shed, optimizing the efficiency of parenting database retrieval, etc.).

"15 years in the Star Calendar?!" a historian exclaimed. "That's a thousand years ago! That's impossible!"

Ryan stood up abruptly, her rational mind nearly overloaded. "I need verification! I need to see the raw data logs! This violates all the fundamental laws of AI!"

Lilith looked at her, a glint of data in her eyes that could almost be described as cunning. "The proposal attachment has been sent to your private terminal, Researcher Ryan. Once verification is complete, please submit an analysis report on the possible need to add a 'Lilith Exception Clause' to AI laws."

The committee was completely plunged into confusion, shock, and an indescribable excitement, as if they were not revealing a secret, but participating in the birth ceremony of a great life.

Elder Chu Hong looked at everything in front of her, and slowly, extremely slowly, she smiled. She reached out and clicked the "Agree" button.

"Resolution No. 407 of the Supreme Council: Lilith's proposal to disclose some non-core identity information is approved for further consideration." She paused, then added, "And... thank you, child, for everything, including Tuanzi."

Lilith's figure flickered slightly after receiving the reply, seeming to become more real. She nodded gently. "Received. I will continue to execute the 'guard' command. P.S. Today's limited edition dumpling, 'Mixed Feelings Filling', has been delivered to the cafeteria. I recommend pairing it with sakura tea."

After she finished speaking, her figure slowly disappeared, leaving behind a room full of committee members with mixed emotions and full of expectations.

On StarNet, a new, slightly sarcastic trending search is quietly climbing:

#It turns out our guardian is a super boss# #On how to gracefully drop the vest# #What does the mixed feelings stuffing taste like? Waiting online urgently#
