Chapter 26

026

As soon as I left the space, I was hit by a heat wave, but fortunately, it was still quiet all around.

Lin Man put on his hat and continued walking silently towards the TV tower.

After a fight, Lin Man deeply realized that she was just stronger and had no skills at all in fighting. If the zombie had eaten a few more bites of flesh and blood and was a little more flexible, her life would be in danger.

She had no place to learn fighting skills and her spiritual energy was very limited, so she finally began to pay attention to her special ability.

So whenever she has time, she will try her best to sense her own "mental power".

These two feelings really made her feel something.

In the hot and silent city, under the tall TV tower, Lin Man sat in the shade, holding his kitchen knife and sharpening toothpick-like wooden splinters.

She made each one straight and smooth, and then placed it on the ground. Without using any spiritual energy, just by "meditation", she could make a wooden thorn vibrate slightly.

If you want to leave the ground, you can only stay three centimeters off the ground. If you can only hold on for five or six seconds, you will be exhausted.

It's like the dizzy feeling you get when you suddenly stand up after squatting for too long.

She wiped the sweat off her forehead and stopped to rest, looking up at the TV tower that was tilted by the wind, rain and sun. She had been waiting there for two days, but there was no sign of the legendary helicopter carrying supplies.

I'm afraid it won't appear today.

Lin Man picked up a kitchen knife and a wooden stick in her left hand, chopped it vertically in the middle of one end, and then sandwiched a shrapnel that she had picked up and sharpened into a sharp edge in the middle.

She slowly adjusted the angle, and when she was finally satisfied, she used a strip of cloth made from an old curtain she had torn from a hotel to wrap it tightly around the edge.

A homemade axe is ready. This axe takes little effort to use, but the wooden stick is more than half a meter long, which makes it much safer when fighting than a short-handled one like a kitchen knife.

After finishing one, she moved on to the second.

She had been wandering around the TV tower these past two days and hadn't found much useful supplies, but she had seen a lot of garbage, including sharp shrapnel or scrap metal like this one. With a little polishing and modification, they could become excellent weapons.

Anyway, she has space, so she can store as many as she wants. If she takes one out unexpectedly during a fight, it can be very useful. However, she must be sure that she can kill the opponent, or the opponent is a zombie, otherwise the secret of the space will be revealed.

While she was busy, she thought about waiting for another day. If there was no movement tomorrow, she would go to the next city.

Unfortunately, the broadcast did not specify exactly when and where the supplies would arrive.

Just as she set the deadline for herself, two young people came to the city.

In the alley where she had fought a bloody battle two days ago, the two of them came to the charred corpse. After examining it for a moment, the one with the lighter skin confirmed, "It's number 337."

Another darker-skinned man said, "We chased it all the way here, thinking there would be a fierce battle, but we didn't expect it to be defeated."

The white-skinned man took a few photos, picked up the unrecognizable head with his gloved hands, and examined the other three charred bodies and the marks on the ground and wall. He muttered, "Female, a little over 1.6 meters tall, very strong, with rough techniques... That person might live in this city."

He straightened up and looked at his companion. "Let's search the city first. It would be best if we can find that person and take her away."

Another day passed, and Lin Manhe still didn't wait for the helicopter, nor did she notice that there were new people in the city. After all, this empty city was still very large, and the people who came were professionals and would not leave any traces of human presence.

She simply left here and continued heading north.

She was also a very careful person, so after she left, although the two men found some traces she left behind, they were unable to follow the clues to find her, and had no idea that she had left.

"There's nothing we can do. The other party has a strong ability to hide. We can only let her come to find us." The white-skinned man said, and then the place where they were hiding was taken away by a helicopter, circling over the TV tower. Because it was even certain that there was no second zombie here, it even ran over the entire city and circled several times.

Not a single person showed up.

"Well, it seems that the guy really doesn't want to bother with us." The white-skinned man clicked his tongue and shook his head. He put a tick behind the three words "safe zone" in the notebook, and put a question mark behind "no man's land", and then recorded the situation in detail.

"Okay, let's go to the next location."

It took Lin Man six days to reach the second city.

As soon as she arrived, she felt something was wrong. There were many signs of human activities on the edge of the city. Lin Man followed the traces and actually found a small settlement.

It was a sewer manhole, and she saw two people crawling out of it with her own eyes.

Lin Man found it incredible. How could someone live in a sewer? What had they eaten all these years?

But she didn't have time to think about it because the legendary helicopter arrived.

It circled above a building, and the blades made a loud noise. The two people Lin Man had just met ran towards it, and then Lin Man found people coming out of the sewers in several places.

Lin Man followed these people quietly. The helicopter saw people and slowly landed. The sound of the blades became louder and louder, and the air waves became stronger and stronger. Two men with guns came down from it.

"That's great! After so many cities, we finally see living people." The two men said happily. Lin Man had sharp ears and could hear them quite clearly.

The two men were about the same height, but one had very white skin and the other was darker, both of them were quite distinctive. They talked enthusiastically to the people who crawled out of the sewer, asking them how long they had lived there, how many people there were in total, how they lived on a daily basis, and whether they had enough food and water.

Those people were originally very cautious, but they were soon moved and told us their situations.

The two men asked and took notes at the same time. Lin Man noticed that only those who explained their situation and how many people were around them could receive supplies.

The supplies were packed in cloth packages. They were not very big, but they looked heavy.

Lin Man felt a little jealous. After watching for a long time, she finally made herself look a little disheveled, as if she had just come out of a sewer.

She silently joined the queue and soon it was her turn.

"What's your name?"

Lin Man said calmly, "Lin Man." She didn't feel the need to give a false name.

"How old are you?"

"Seventeen."

The white-skinned person who was taking notes looked up in surprise and looked at her carefully: "Apocalyptic baby?"

I heard that people call those born in the first year of the apocalypse "apocalyptic babies." It seems like a cute name, but what these four words represent is not cute at all, but very heavy and even cruel.

Because I was born after the outbreak of the apocalypse, I have never enjoyed a single day of peace.

Because those who were born in the first year after the outbreak of the apocalypse have experienced and endured more than those who were born in the following years.

Therefore, doomsday babies are always more likely to attract a second look, and they are also relatively rare.

Because it is difficult to survive, it can be said that the survival rate of children born before or after the outbreak of the apocalypse is not high.

Seeing this person's reaction, Lin Man realized that she shouldn't report her age. When she was out and about, she didn't want to attract any more attention. She nodded lightly: "Yeah."

"You shouldn't be like them, living in the sewer all the time, right?" The white-skinned girl looked at her skin which was obviously exposed to the sun. Could this be caused by running in the sun every day?

Lin Man was startled. She was wearing long sleeves, long pants and a hat, but even with that little bit of skin exposed, how could it be seen?

"The underground environment is not good, so I live on the ground and only hide underground when zombies appear." Lin Man had just heard some information. It turned out that the people here lived underground because there were several zombies in this city. Sometimes they might not appear for several months. Sometimes, there would be more than a dozen zombies passing by from other places. It was too dangerous to live on the ground.

Underground, as long as the passage is blocked and the manhole cover is properly closed, and the special smell from underground is covered up, it will be much safer.

"Where do you live?" the white man asked with interest. "How many people are there with you?"

Lin Man frowned, his face alert: "Are you here to check the household registration, or to deliver supplies?"

"Don't be nervous. It's not easy for anyone to survive until now, especially those who have left the organization or the organization is very small. I admire your ability to survive very much." The white-skinned person said hurriedly.

The dark-skinned man also came over and said, "Now that nothing grows in the fields, your life is getting tough, isn't it? You can come with us to the big base in the north and live a better life."

Lin Man didn't say anything. After hearing this, some of the people who received supplies and some who didn't were moved, while others looked numb and unmoved.

The two men began to introduce which base they were from, what the conditions at their base were like, and what kind of treatment everyone would receive after going there.
