◎Tuantuan's Troubles (Married Life)◎
At the beginning of the hour of Hai, in the east wing of Lingquan Courtyard, Tuantuan sat on a brocade stool with his head drooped on the rosewood table and yawned loudly.
On the table, tangrams, rag dolls, nine-link puzzles, and colored ropes were scattered all over the place.
The door creaked open and Tuantuan immediately looked up. Seeing that it was Yingtao carrying the foot washing water, he was extremely disappointed.
She said, "Sister Cherry, it's so late, why hasn't my sister come to sleep yet?"
Cherry covered her mouth and smiled: "Second Miss, after getting married, the young lady will have to sleep with the prince."
After saying that, he grabbed Tuantuan's chubby legs, took off her shoes and socks, and pressed her fat, white feet into warm water.
Tuantuan was bored and splashed the water back and forth with her feet. She remembered that her elder sister had told her before that she would be busy in the next few days after moving to the palace, so she let her sleep with Yingtao.
Although Tuantuan agreed intellectually, emotionally she still looked forward to her sister's arrival.
My sister was so sweet and soft, hugging her was like hugging a pool of water, and I fell asleep instantly.
"Oh, look, the lights in the main hall are dimmed." Cherry said, giggling.
Tuantuan opened his eyes wide, and sure enough, he saw that the light that was initially very bright behind the window papers between the flower leaves in the distance had now become dim.
Her elder sister fell asleep. She finally gave up, dried her feet, and got into bed.
The next day, Tuantuan woke up early. With Yingtao's help, she got dressed, washed her face, brushed her teeth, and even tied two pigtails with red hairbands.
On the third day, I went to the main hall and found the door was still tightly shut. My brother and sister hadn't gotten up yet.
I ate two rose cakes, two soft pancakes wrapped with shredded pork and vegetables, and drank a bowl of lotus soup.
I turned the flower rope back and forth for a long time;
I also went to the backyard to look at the apricot blossoms on the branches that looked like piles of snow.
It was not until the sky was bright and the sun was half visible through the clouds that she saw the maids holding washbasins and towels and filing into the main hall.
Tuantuan quickly jumped off the bench, ran very fast with his two chubby little legs, passed through the maids' skirts, and rushed in.
…
There were many maids in the palace, and there were people to do everything. Jiang Qinglan was not good at putting on makeup and was very sleepy, so she closed her eyes and let Mei Guo draw her eyebrows and lips, and do her makeup and hair.
She thought to herself, "After putting on my makeup, I whispered to my husband, 'Are my eyebrows the right depth?'" She didn't need to use what the poem said. The maids' makeup was surely the right depth and thickness.
"Madam, your makeup is ready. I'm going to tie your hair for you." Mei Guo said in a low voice after finishing her work.
Jiang Qinglan yawned and slowly opened his eyes.
Before she even looked in the mirror, she saw Xie Linchuan holding a snow-white apricot blossom, standing outside, but his body was leaning in through the wide-open diamond-lattice window, looking at her with burning eyes.
Jiang Qinglan felt uncomfortable when he looked at her, and glared at him, "What are you looking at?"
Xie Linchuan danced the apricot blossom back and forth, and said with a smile, "Madam, you are beautiful. I love to watch you."
The maids holding the pot and towel all smiled secretly, making Jiang Qinglan blush slightly in embarrassment.
Mei Guo also smiled, but gave a silent look, and the maids quickly retreated.
Xie Linchuan commented on Jiang Qinglan's makeup again: "I think the lip color is a little light. It would look better if it were a little red."
After hearing this, Mei Guo was about to get some lip balm, but Jiang Qinglan held her hand back.
"Don't believe him."
Straight male aesthetic!
Then he said to him, "Why don't you come in and change your clothes? It's already daybreak! We have to go pay our respects to Grandma, Father, and Mother."
Xie Linchuan smiled and said, "Don't worry, just paint slowly. Grandma loves to sleep in. When it comes to Father and Mother, we can just say we've been waiting in Qingxin Courtyard for a long time. That's what I always say."
Jiang Qinglan was very happy to hear him say that.
She also wanted to sleep in. She was not used to the ancient custom of a daughter-in-law visiting her parents every morning and evening.
Suddenly, I felt a weight on my body, and a fat baby climbed onto my legs like a piece of taffy.
"Yeah, Tuantuan."
Tuantuan hadn't seen his sister all night and missed her terribly, so he looked her up and down carefully.
After taking a look, he saw two dark circles under her eyes, and asked worriedly, "Sister, were you tired last night?"
Jiang Qinglan's face suddenly felt hot and flushed red.
Mei Guo was so close that she couldn't help but laugh softly. She knew she was being rude, so she quickly fixed her hair and left.
After the people left, Jiang Qinglan said, "Sister is not tired." After that, she glanced at the person outside the window.
Xie Linchuan was thick-skinned and acted as if nothing had happened. He threw the apricot blossom into the plum vase, used his elbow to gain leverage, and jumped in from the window.
He stood behind the two sisters and spotted the golden hairpin with apricot blossom pattern among the dazzling array of jewelry.
He had chosen it himself, so naturally he liked it. Just as he was about to take it, he remembered that this hairpin was expensive and complicated, and once it was on her head, she couldn't move it around, so it didn't seem to suit her.
He then chose a simple pearl hairpin and inserted it firmly into Jiang Qinglan's black hair. He also picked two fresh apricot flowers and pinned them next to it.
I only heard the two sisters in front of me mumbling:
"Does Tuan Tuan miss Sister?"
Tuan Tuan nodded vigorously: "I couldn't sleep when my sister was away. I finally fell asleep and dreamed that my sister said she would sleep with my brother from now on."
"When I woke up, I saw that my sister was not beside me. I had already dropped the golden beans quietly."
Jiang Qinglan said, "Tuantuan, can you sleep with Yingtao for two more nights? Then..."
"Ahem!" Xie Linchuan heard something was wrong and cleared his throat.
Jiang Qinglan turned a deaf ear and said, "Sister, I'll just sleep with you."
Xie Linchuan's face changed.
The makeup was done and the matter was discussed. Although some people were not satisfied, Jiang Qinglan didn't care.
So he called Yingtao in and took Tuantuan out so that the newlyweds could go and pay their respects to their elders.
Tuantuan suddenly ran up to Xie Linchuan, stretched out his hands, and stopped him: "Brother, I have something to tell you alone."
Jiang Qinglan was stunned. What could she have said that her dear elder sister couldn't listen to?
Xie Linchuan smiled brightly, leaned down, and picked the person up with one hand. He glanced at Jiang Qinglan with a half-smile, ignoring her surprise: "Okay, let's go over there and talk."
When they arrived at the east wing, Xie Linchuan and Tuantuan each sat on a brocade stool, looking at each other.
Tuantuan's face was stern and serious. "Brother, I'm telling you this alone, away from them, because I'm afraid you'll be embarrassed."
Xie Linchuan smiled with dimples deep in his face, and said politely, as if he were talking to an adult, "You're very thoughtful. What's the matter?"
Tuantuan finally got to the point, frowning and looking worried. "Brother, did you kick the quilt last night? I was so busy covering you up that I didn't even get a good night's sleep."
Xie Linchuan was stunned at first, then burst out laughing. Afraid of arousing suspicion, he forced himself to hold back his laughter after a few chuckles, still with a strange expression.
Tuan Tuan said maturely, "You're already an adult, why are you still kicking the quilt? I don't kick the quilt anymore. Sister doesn't get this tired when she sleeps with me."
Xie Linchuan immediately admitted his mistake with a smile:
"Yes, yes, brother is wrong. Tuantuan, you took so much trouble. Whatever you want to eat or play with, brother will buy it for you. I can even pick the stars in the sky."
Tuan Tuan, however, was not concerned about those things and said anxiously, "It's not me who's worried, it's my sister who's worried. How can I not sleep well?"
"You have to promise to sleep well these past few nights and not kick off the covers, okay?"
Xie Linchuan nodded and said solemnly: "I promise."
I couldn't help but burst out laughing again.
…
In the next two days, Xie Linchuan restrained himself a little and didn't make trouble too late.
On the morning of the third day, the two were still lying in bed, and Jiang Qinglan began to negotiate with him:
"Tuantuan has always slept with me, and she's not used to being separated all of a sudden. I'm going to sleep with her tonight. This is what I promised before, and I can't break my promise."
Xie Linchuan played with a lock of her hair, twisting it around his finger and twisting it again and again: "How can that be?"
"A loving mother often spoils her child, and a diligent sister raises a lazy sister. She is seven years old now, it's time for her to sleep alone. Besides, she doesn't kick the quilt anymore."
Jiang Qinglan didn't know what Tuantuan had told him about kicking the quilt the day before, so he just said, "Even if we don't kick the quilt, the psychological damage from sleeping in separate beds right away is quite significant. We need to take it slow."
Xie Linchuan spread out the lock of hair, pulled her hand to his chest, and said aggrievedly: "Newlyweds don't sleep in the same bed. My heart is broken!"
Jiang Qinglan patted his chest and said with a smile:
"Are you still arguing with a child? I'll stay with her for a few nights first, and then slowly talk to her. Later, I'll stay with her for a few days a month, and gradually reduce the number of days until she can sleep alone."
Xie Linchuan knew that this matter was not going to work. After thinking for a while, he said, "Then you sleep with Tuantuan during the four or five days of the month? That happens to be your period."
Jiang Qinglan laughed angrily: "Can your intentions be any more obvious?"
Xie Linchuan grinned, grabbed her hand, and passed it across her hot chest, tight waist, and abdomen, all the way down: "It's very obvious."
…
The golden sun sets in the west, dusk falls, and Tuantuan rolls around on the bed in excitement: "Sister is here——"
That night, she slept particularly soundly, hugging her elder sister who was as soft as water.
Jiang Qinglan was the same. After three days and three nights of tossing and turning, she also wanted to have a peaceful night's sleep.
However, in the middle of the night, she felt a furry arm moving around, making her whole body feel weak.
When he opened his eyes, he saw a curtain embroidered with twined lotus flowers above his head. This was in the main hall of Lingquan Courtyard, on their wedding bed.
She murmured, "Why am I here?"
Because she was just half asleep, her voice was very lazy and sweet.
Xie Linchuan had been teasing her for a long time, and his whole body was already on fire. After hearing this, he couldn't stand it anymore and whispered, "If you don't agree to my proposal, I can only think of another way."
He stood up and grabbed her ankles: "I carried you here."
"You sleep with Tuantuan during the first and second half of the day, and sleep with me during the middle period. At the beginning of the morning hour, I'll carry you over, and she won't notice."
Jiang Qinglan was both angry and amused: "How can you be so good at coming up with ideas? Aren't you tired?"
Xie Linchuan was feeling comfortable and chuckled, "How are you tired?"
For a moment, the twined lotus patterns on the ceiling of the tent began to sway, and Jiang Qinglan's vision became blurry.
…
In this way, they lived in peace for a few days. Xie Linchuan didn't mind the tossing and turning, and Jiang Qinglan let him do it. When he held her back and forth, she fell asleep.
But one day, she went too far. Xie Linchuan overslept. When Tuantuan woke up and didn't see her sister, she burst into tears.
For a moment, Tuan Tuan was sad, Jiang Qinglan was angry, Xie Linchuan apologized, and Lingquan Courtyard was in chaos.
Because of this, Jiang Qinglan insisted on sleeping in the east wing at night, which gave him a few days of peace and quiet.
That night, in the middle of the night, she felt a little hot, as if there was a stove burning on her back.
When I opened my eyes, I saw Tuantuan sleeping soundly against the wall, while my back was resting on a hot and smooth chest. When I turned my head, I saw his lustful face.
Jiang Qinglan was shocked, frightened, annoyed, and embarrassed, and cursed him in a low voice: "Are you crazy? Tuantuan is here?!"
Xie Linchuan whispered in her ear: "Shh—if you talk again, she will wake up."
At that moment, he really did it without saying anything. In a few seconds, he threw her clothes under the bed.
The two of them were there, their waists soft and willow-like, their bodies snowy and tender, and their bodies fragrant, when they suddenly heard Tuantuan mutter, "Sister, why are you kicking the quilt too?"
Her face flushed, her chubby hands lifted from the quilt, and she placed them on the pillow in a gesture of surrender. Fortunately, her eyes were still closed.
Jiang Qinglan was so frightened that his whole body tensed up!
Then, the person behind him called out softly, and Jiang Qinglan turned around and glared at him fiercely.
"Sister, stop kicking me. Be good and go to sleep." Although she was talking to her younger sister, her voice was uncontrollably sweet, greasy, affectionate and lingering.
"Yeah." Tuantuan turned over and faced the wall.
This time, she slept soundly, but she had a dream. In the dream, her sister kicked the quilt all night long.
