Chapter Thirty-Three: Unreasonable Behavior
When Yan Yan and I returned to the car, Chu Zhen and Chen Weiqi were already standing there.
"What a coincidence!" I greeted him awkwardly.
"It's quite a coincidence, is this fate?" Chu Zhen smiled, reached out and pulled me to the side, then shoved me into the car.
"Yan Yan is still there!"
"She has Chen Weiqi, you should worry about yourself first!"
"Why didn't you tell me you were investigating?" I preemptively asked.
"I have my own plans for not telling you. Aren't you smart too? You've been following me."
When did you find me?
"From the very beginning, when your car was following behind, do you know that cars have a feature called a rearview mirror? And is there a kind of following called being discreet? Huang Yanyan's sports car is too eye-catching; how many of those are there in the entire City A?"

Faced with Chu Zhen's persistent questioning, I spoke frankly about my true feelings. Perhaps it was my own words that gave him the answer he wanted, for Chu Zhen started the car with a smile on his face.
After all that trouble, it was almost dawn when we got home. Chu Zhen and Chen Weiqi were sitting in the living room of our little house, while Huang Yanyan was busy boiling water to make tea.
Yan Yan pulled me into the kitchen and whispered to me that Chen Weiqi was very angry about being followed, and had a dark expression the whole time in the car. Indeed, our initial intention in following him was Chen Weiqi. As a man, he should be very disgusted by being followed by a woman, especially since Huang Yan Yan and he are currently only in a superior-subordinate relationship.
"I'm sorry, Chu Zhen was acting a bit strange today. I didn't expect to see him sitting in the passenger seat after the movie, so I had Yan Yan come along." I handed the water glass to Chen Weiqi, and this was the only excuse I could come up with for Huang Yan Yan.
"Lin Dang, it seems you have absolutely no trust in me!" Chu Zhen instantly understood what I meant and played along.
"Don't you think your attitude towards me lately is a bit strange? You used to take me everywhere, but lately you don't take me anywhere. Today you even told me you're not coming back. As your girlfriend, isn't it normal for me to have doubts?" Since Chu Zhen is cooperating, I'll play the role of an unreasonable girlfriend!
"I always thought you were different from others, a sensible and understanding girl. I never expected you to do something like stalking. I really misjudged you!" Chu Zhen's face was gloomy. For a moment, I was a little dazed. Was she acting or revealing her true feelings?
At that moment, I was speechless and stopped arguing. My recklessness last time had stalled the entire undercover investigation for so long. If I were discovered today, even if Chu Zhen could protect me, all his careful planning over this period would be completely ruined, and everything would enter another long wait.
Chu Zhen sat on the sofa without saying a word, while Chen Weiqi and Huang Yanyan stared blankly at the two of us.
"Get ready, let's go to work!" Chen Weiqi said to Huang Yanyan, who immediately understood and followed him out the door. Only Chu Zhen and I remained inside.
"How was it? I cooperated pretty well, right?" As soon as the two of them left, Chu Zhen pulled me down to sit next to him with a grin.
"Chu Zhen, you were serious just now, weren't you!"
"What do you mean 'really'? Wasn't I just putting on an act for you?"
“I’m immature, I don’t understand the bigger picture, and I don’t consider the overall situation,” I said coldly.
"Who said that? I think you're very sensible!" Chu Zhen hugged me.
"You only speak the truth when you're in a hurry. Maybe you originally thought I was a sensible and understanding girl, but you've been completely disappointed today!" I pulled away from his embrace.
"Lin Dang, wasn't that just to cooperate with you? And wasn't our cooperation quite successful?" Chu Zhen looked completely confused.
"You succeeded because you told the truth!" I must have lost my mind to perfectly portray a young girl's unreasonable tantrum.
"What exactly do you want?" Chu Zhen asked, growing impatient.
"It's nothing, you stay here, I'm going to work!" Even though it's only a little past six, there's no fixed time for people in our line of work! I grabbed my bag and headed out.
"Eat up! It's from your favorite place." Chu Zhen put it on the table and went to his seat. Smelling the aroma of the egg pancakes, I was indeed a little hungry. We had argued, but I couldn't let my stomach suffer. Besides, I had already calmed down on my way to work.
"What are you laughing at?" I noticed Chu Zhen staring at me and laughing as I was eating.
"It's nothing. I was just scared that I might have hurt my wife for someone else! Now that I see you like this, I'm relieved. It turns out girls aren't that hard to please!"
Chu Zhen's words amused me; it turns out he bought things just to appease me!
"Then I'll tell you. There's a saying for women: 'A bag can cure all ills.' From now on, whenever I get angry, you can buy me a bag, and the price will depend on how angry I am."
"I found it, but I don't think it's suitable for you. However, buying things to coax you is a good suggestion."
"You found it?"
"Yeah, otherwise how come I've been lagging behind you for so long? I searched online for how to please a girlfriend, and I have to say, there are quite a few questions and answers. It seems to be a common problem among men."
Faced with Chu Zhen like this, I have completely lost my temper. It is his first time in love, and it is also my first time. In our relationship, we get along in our own way. Even though he seeks help online, he still acts in his own way. I like this way of getting along, and I like Chu Zhen like this.
