Chapter Twenty-Six: A Perfect Match

Chapter Twenty-Six: A Perfect Match

The internship was really easy because it covered local social issues. The audience was mostly middle-aged and elderly people, and they liked to call the hotline. We received many calls every day, and then we selected which areas to report on based on the severity of the issues. Although City A isn't big, trivial things happen every day, so our news material was constantly flowing in.

"How are you doing? Getting used to it?" Chu Zhen was waiting for him at the door right on time when he got off work.

"Didn't I tell you not to come over? It's such a bad influence!" I've refused him several times with righteous indignation, but he hasn't listened at all. Whenever we leave work at the same time, he will definitely be at the office door on time.

Why is it considered a bad influence?

"I'm not your anything, people will misunderstand if you wait like this."

"Really? Then do you want to be my...?" Chu Zhen smiled, and what she couldn't stand most was his wicked smile.

"Teacher Chu, you're here!" We were standing at the door when Song Ji-hyo came out.

"Hello!" Chu Zhen replied with a serious expression. I really wanted to laugh; his face-changing speed was comparable to that of a Sichuan opera face-changing act.

"I made plans to have dinner with Ji-hyo!" I said, taking Song Ji-hyo's hand.

"Oh? Is that so?" It was clear that Chu Zhen was somewhat skeptical.

"Yes, yes, we agreed to have dinner together tonight. A barbecue restaurant just opened and they want our show to promote it, so we're going to try it out today." Song Ji-hyo immediately understood what I meant. But this girl is quite shrewd; this way, she can define dinner as work, making it difficult for Chu Zhen to refuse on my behalf.

"Alright, you guys enjoy your meal!" Sure enough, Chu Zhen left.

"Lin Dang, what exactly is your relationship with Teacher Chu?" Even though it was just a lie, I still decided to invite Song Ji-hyo to dinner.

"I interned on his show before, so I guess we know each other!"

"I heard he's very difficult to work with, and almost no one wants to intern in his group. Is he trying to poach you?"

Chu Zhen's reputation is truly infamous; even Song Ji-hyo's interns, who haven't been here long, know about it.

"Actually, he's not that difficult to deal with. He's just a bit cold-hearted, but he's very pragmatic when it comes to doing things. Look, his show's ratings are pretty high!" I never expected that I would take the initiative to defend him.

"That's true, but Teacher Chu is really handsome. I wonder if he has a girlfriend?" Are women really this tolerant of good-looking men? Just now she was saying he was difficult to deal with, and now she's acting like a lovesick fool.

"I haven't heard that he has a girlfriend."

"Really? Then it looks like I still have a chance. You know, I'm not bad, am I?"

Song Ji-hyo and Chu Zhen are a perfect match, both being from media families and having similar appearances. They are truly a well-matched couple.

"Lin Dang, are you familiar with him? Can you help me find out some information, such as his preferences and what kind of girl he likes?" I originally thought Song Ji-hyo was just acting on a whim, but I didn't expect it to be "premeditated".

Huang Yanyan said I didn't have her courage at all. If you like someone, just say you like them. Why keep things ambiguous and not come clean? Even if you get rejected, so what? At least the other person knows how you feel.

Indeed, Chen Weiqi has rejected countless gifts from her on various holidays, yet Yan Yan still tirelessly racks her brains to figure out what to give as a gift for the next holiday.

Song Ji-hyo's persistence is comparable to Huang Yanyan's. Every morning, she would clock in at the "Before Dawn" office to deliver breakfast. She said she made it all herself. Sometimes, if she had extra ingredients, she would bring me a portion. However, Xiao Ai told me that Chu Zhen had never eaten it. He always gave the breakfast to others. But Chu Zhen never refused it outright. Was she waiting to see when her perseverance would win him over?

The annual Trade and Tourism Festival in City A has arrived as scheduled. This is a very important event for City A to attract investment and promote itself to the world. The TV station had made all the arrangements well in advance. Chu Zhen's department also conducted interviews, mainly focusing on the unsung behind-the-scenes staff, while we were to interview the attendees.

"You're really something, taking pictures of the scenery at this hour." The venue was set up in a 5A scenic area in City A. I last visited this place when I was a freshman in college, and I haven't been back since. This time, I found that it had changed quite a bit, so I took advantage of the free time to take pictures. Yes, photography is another hobby of mine, but I'm a latecomer to it, just a hobby.

"My professional skills are sufficient to complete this interview well."

"You seem quite confident. If you were interviewing the mayor later, what would you ask him?"

"You overestimate me. An intern like me can't interview the mayor. At most, I'll interview some local entrepreneurs." I'm aware of my limitations; the interview assignments were already divided up back in the office.

"Looks like this job hasn't sparked your desire for challenge!"

“Work isn’t all challenges, right? There are mundane moments too, like you. Every day is the same, interviewing people around you. I think that’s news!” I looked at Chu Zhen. This was the first time we’d met since I told him not to come to my office. Bathed in sunlight, he looked like an angel, radiating light. I was so stunned that I was momentarily speechless.

"How about it? Aren't you even more handsome?" Chu Zhen's grin was incredibly captivating, though he himself might not realize it.

"Can't you stop being so narcissistic? Can't you just quietly be a handsome man?"

"Handsome man? I don't like that title. I'd rather be called a scumbag."

"Are you out of your mind?!" Who talks about themselves like that?

"Handsome men always seem a bit effeminate, while scumbags are at least bad. As the saying goes, 'Women don't love men who aren't a little bad,' understand?" Chu Zhen poked my forehead with her finger. "Your brain is sometimes good and sometimes bad, it's not quite normal!"

"So, are you trying to impress Song Ji-hyo with this statement?" I was actually starting to doubt his words, wondering if he was testing Song Ji-hyo.

"Do you think I'm the kind of person who falls in love with anyone I meet?" Chu Zhen stared straight at me. "Once I'm smitten, I can never escape my notice. As for the others, even if they're celestial beings, they won't catch my eye."

Chu Zhen's words were filled with affection, yet also seemed to carry a hint of mockery. I didn't know if he was being sincere or joking, but my heart was pounding wildly. Was I unable to escape or unable to enter?

Yan Yan told me, "You're such an idiot! Chu Zhen is clearly confessing his feelings to you!"

Fortunately, that interview went as I expected. I only interviewed local entrepreneurs. It wasn't that I was unwilling to interview higher-level people; it's just that I had been restless ever since I parted ways with Chu Zhen.
