Chapter Ninety-Five: A Grand Fireworks Display
"Lin Dang, how's Xiao Xiao from your department? Tell me about her?" Cao Gang sat down opposite me with his tray during lunch.
"Did you two hit it off yesterday?" I had been trying to set them up, and if they really did like each other, that would be great.
"Didn't you hint to me that day? I've known Ai Min for a long time, but I haven't met Xiao Xiao. However, she's definitely my type. How about it? Go all the way and give her a push."
"Alright, I'll help you out since you're not a kid anymore."

Fortunately, my mother-in-law is Professor Huang. Even more fortunately, I was a good student at school who didn't cause trouble. Otherwise, if I had known that my mother-in-law was Professor Huang, I would have been even more nervous than Huang Yanyan.
When the group arrived in City B, my parents and uncles were already waiting at the door. As soon as our car arrived, they set off firecrackers.
Chu Zhen's relatives were all carrying large bags and small packages, saying it was a custom in City A. After exchanging a few pleasantries at home, we went to the hotel without staying long, since my house couldn't compare to Chu's villa.
When I arrived at the hotel, I realized that the so-called "no wedding" probably just meant not hiring a wedding planning company. The two families' relatives sat at as many as eight tables, which filled an entire hall of the hotel. What was even more unexpected was that Professor Huang had brought cigarettes and wedding candy. Seeing Chu Zhen's bewildered look, I guess he hadn't expected this either.
When my mother was hospitalized, Chu Zhen introduced me to most of my relatives. I was meeting almost all of his relatives for the first time. Chu Zhen introduced me to several elders, and he didn't even recognize some of his peers, let alone the younger ones. I smiled broadly the entire time, my grin almost uncontrollable. I felt like a rare animal, surrounded by onlookers, each person giving me a once-over.
"You must be General Manager Huang!" He must be Chu Zhen's distant cousin. Please forgive my rambling way of addressing people; I couldn't remember who was who at all. This cousin suddenly greeted Yan Yan warmly when he saw her beside me.
"Just call me Huang Yanyan." Yanyan has been quite low-key today; perhaps the CEO's aura is now impossible to hide.
"I am the sales manager of Fenghua Foods. Some of our products are directly supplied to your group's supermarkets. This is my business card. If it is convenient for you in the future, could you please consider allowing more of our products to be sold in your supermarkets?"
"Fenghua Foods?" Huang Yanyan took the business card. "No problem, I'll have the person in charge of this contact you."
Huang Yanyan quickly won over this distant cousin, and the cousin's word spread really fast. In no time, the focus of the whole place had shifted from me to Huang Yanyan. Chen Weiqi's protective attitude probably meant that Huang Yanyan was showing off to me again.
"If you're tired, go back and rest. There's no need to put on a show." Chu Zhen saw me pat my waist and probably thought I was tired. Actually, I really was tired. Today's occasion didn't allow for casual attire. I was wearing high heels, and my feet couldn't take it anymore.
"Shall we go now?"
"There's nothing good or bad about it. Getting married is supposed to be a happy occasion. It wouldn't be worth it if my wife got tired." As soon as he finished speaking, Chu Zhen picked me up. "Excuse me, everyone, my wife is a little tired. I'll take her home first."
I was telling the truth, but the cheers from the crowd had a different flavor to it. Oh well, we're an old married couple, let them do what they want. I wrapped my arms around Chu Zhen's neck and let him carry me out of the hall.
Chu Zhen took me to the lakeside park, the place where we celebrated New Year's Eve when we first started dating.

“Lin Dang, on New Year’s Eve that year, my wish was to marry you. I silently vowed that if you became my wife, I would put on a fireworks extravaganza in this lakeside park. Now that my wish has come true, I must fulfill my promise.”

I was still immersed in Chu Zhen's words when I suddenly heard many people talking about my name. I looked up and saw fireworks in the distance that spelled out, "Lin Dang, I love you~"

Yes, from my WeChat Moments that night to the news the next day, my name had spread throughout City B. Some classmates I hadn't contacted in a long time went to great lengths to find my contact information, just to verify if I was "Lin Dang" from Fireworks.
