Chapter Forty-Four: Naked
It was quite late when I arrived in City A, so I went straight to Chu Zhen's place.
The first thing I did when I got home was take a bath. I'd only been able to shower every two or three days while in the hospital, and the hot water supply was very unreliable, so it was always a rush. I lit some aromatherapy candles, put on some soft music, and lay down in the bathtub filled with hot water—it was so relaxing!
"Chu Zhen, you scoundrel~" When I woke up this morning, I found myself completely naked.
Chu Zhen slowly opened her eyes as I shouted.
"What time is it?" Chu Zhen asked sleepily.
Where are my clothes?
"It's hanging in the closet!"
I kicked Chu Zhen out of bed, rolled up the blanket and went to the walk-in closet. Luckily, Chu Zhen had his own walk-in closet. After getting dressed, I tried hard to remember what had happened yesterday, but my memory only went back to taking a bath, and I couldn't remember anything after that.
"What happened last night?" After getting dressed, I returned to my room, where Chu Zhen was sitting on the bed, grinning at me.
"Don't you remember? You really wore me out last night!"
"Chu Zhen, be serious for once!"
"Okay, okay, I'm not teasing you anymore! You fell asleep in the bathtub last night. I noticed you hadn't come out of the tub, so I went in to check on you. Turns out you were asleep in the tub. Luckily I got in, or you would have drowned."
"Who are you kidding? How could you possibly fall asleep so soundly while taking a bath?" I was a little puzzled. Although I'm a person with pretty good sleep quality, I wouldn't be so careless as to fall asleep in the bathtub!
"The essential oil you used is for relaxation; I burn some by my bedside when I have insomnia."
"Well..." I subconsciously looked at my body.
"I touched it all over!" Chu Zhen looked at me lecherously, "but I didn't do anything else~"
"Then get up, I'm going back to school first~" Chu Zhen said, and I felt quite embarrassed.
It's only four o'clock now!
"The school is open!"
You don't have class today!
Oh dear~ Chu Zhen knows my class schedule, and recently I've been doing internships, which is why I've had the opportunity to stay with my parents.
"Go get the blanket, sleep a little longer~"
Then I remembered that I had just wrapped the blanket in the walk-in closet. I went to the walk-in closet, took the blanket, and threw it directly onto Chu Zhen. Although we had slept in the same bed before, I really couldn't bring myself to share a bed with him again now.
When I got to the kitchen, I poured myself a glass of water, trying to calm myself down.
"Drink hot water!" Just as I was about to drink, Chu Zhen took the cup away and handed me a cup of warm water a while later.
"Go to sleep, I can't sleep right now!"
"I can't sleep without you by my side!"
Normally, I would definitely confront him, but now it seems like he's taken off his armor and has lost all fighting power.
"Don't worry, I'll only ever recognize one person in my life," Chu Zhen said softly as he hugged me from behind.
"Oh~" I didn't know what to say.
"Silly girl, let's go, go back to sleep, it's too early!" Chu Zhen pulled me to the bedroom, and I just followed him into the bedroom.
"I won't take advantage of you in your vulnerable state. Anyway, you'll be mine sooner or later, so I'm not in a hurry."
"Oh~" I lay in Chu Zhen's arms, feeling his heartbeat, but my mind was filled with the image of him lifting me out of the bathtub yesterday, and I had no intention of listening to anything he said.
"Lin Dang, are you stupid?" Chu Zhen turned to the side, and half of my body was pinned down by him.
No, not at all.
"If I had known you were in this state, I should have taken care of you!"
"Wait a minute, how come you have insomnia?" I really didn't want to continue this topic, and suddenly I thought of the culprit, that hypnotic essential oil.
"Working day and night so often completely disrupts my biological clock, so I use this aromatherapy oil!" Chu Zhen said casually, but I felt a little sorry for her. As a journalist, this is commonplace.
"Lin Dang, you'll be like me in the future, but I'll do everything I can to make sure you have a 9-to-5 job."
"That kind of job isn't what I want." I'm not someone who likes a comfortable life, which is why I chose this major.
"Independent, opinionated, knowing what you want, and daring to pursue what you want to do—that's why I like you," Chu Zhen suddenly said. The question I asked him yesterday has now been answered.
"I am not a superficial person. Appearance can only be the first impression. What truly attracts me is a person's inner self."
"You talk like you're so noble. Without a first impression based on appearance, how can you get to know someone's inner thoughts?" I said dismissively.
"Did you have to interrupt me like that during such a touching moment?"
"We even argued when I confessed to you, I really don't know why I blurted out that I agreed to be with you, you pervert!"
"Pervert? Lin Dang, you said it yourself~" Chu Zhen pressed his entire body against me.
"What are you doing? I can't breathe!" I tried to push him away.
"You called me a hooligan and a pervert first thing in the morning, so I have to do what a pervert does~" Chu Zhen's hand slowly slipped into my clothes. Actually, he had done similar things before, but I had always acquiesced. It's just that I always felt a little uncomfortable when he saw my naked body.
"Okay, do as you please~" I deliberately compromised, hoping that this would completely extinguish his desire!
Sure enough, Chu Zhen stopped when I stopped struggling completely.
"You win, go to sleep!" Chu Zhen turned to his side to sleep, and I didn't say anything more. He has trouble sleeping, so let him get some rest!
When I woke up again, Chu Zhen was no longer beside me. There was food left on the table, so it seemed he had gone to work.
After dinner, looking at the somewhat messy room, Chu Zhen had been traveling between City A and City B lately, so he probably spent very little time at home. Even such a refined man could become disorganized due to unexpected events in his life.
I cleaned the house inside and out like a lady of the house. I've been to Chu Zhen's house many times, but I usually only go to the living room, dining room, and bedroom. I've hardly ever been to other places. Today was the first time I'd ever been to the study.
Upon entering the study, the entire opposite wall was lined with bookshelves, and a modern geometric desk held a computer. Aside from books, there was nothing else in the room. I looked at the books on the shelves; besides journalism books, there were history, biographies, social studies, literature, science fiction… His reading scope was incredibly broad. No wonder I always lost debates with him. Such a vast knowledge base—it's no exaggeration to say he was "knowledgeable in everything from astronomy to geography"—once again, Chu Zhen impressed me greatly.
