Chapter 112 Love He bent down and kissed his moon. ...
When news of the reversal of the situation in Qinghuai reached Yanjing, some were happy while others were sad.
The Xie family is the one filled with sorrow.
Xie Qingyu is the current head of the Xie family and a core figure of the Xie clan in the court. Half a month ago, when news of his disappearance reached Yanjing, the Xie family was almost thrown back into chaos, just like when they first learned of Xie Zhi's death.
Fortunately, Xie Yueshuang and Xie Lianquan took charge of the situation in place of Xie Qingyu and dealt with the clan elders; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
However, facing the covetous eyes of various branches and lineages within the clan, Xie Lianquan and Xie Yueshuang were also nearing their breaking point.
At this moment, Xie Lianquan pressed the messenger for more information: "So the problem of disaster relief grain in Qinghuai has been resolved now, and the people on the Third Prince's side are all involved in disaster relief? What about my elder brother and Lord Yue? Haven't they sent anyone to look for them? Haven't they heard anything from them yet?"
A bead of sweat trickled down the forehead of the guard who brought the intelligence: "Yes... there's still no news about the two lords. That's what our men say too."
Xie Lianquan flicked his sleeve and smashed the inkstone on the table, the loud noise making all the servants present tremble.
He panted, his eyes fixed on the guard: "Where is the Seventh Prince? Did his men say anything?"
The guard lowered his head even further: "Reporting to the Second Young Master, there's nothing from His Highness the Seventh Prince's side either..."
"Idiots! Useless!! What good are they!?"
The guard knelt down with a thud, and all the servants in the room were so frightened by Xie Lianquan's roar that they all knelt down as well.
Xie Lianquan's hand, gripping the corner of the table, bulged with veins. He paced back and forth in the room, muttering to himself, "What should I do? It's been so long. Could Xie Qingyu have already died in the mountains?"
"And the Seventh Prince too! Doesn't he have many talented people under his command? It's been half a month and he hasn't found a single person?! I think he's deliberately trying to avoid wasting manpower searching for Xie Qingyu!"
Compared to the hot-tempered and unstable Xie Lianquan, Xie Yueshuang was more composed. She said, "No, the Seventh Prince doesn't need to do this. What good will it do him if Xie Qingyu dies?"
“The Wang family has fallen, and the Xie family is now the most powerful family in the court. My elder brother personally attends to everything for him. Even if it's for his own benefit, he will try to get him out of trouble. He can't just stand by and do nothing.”
Watching Xie Yueshuang comfort Xie Lianquan, Xie Yunying sat beside her, holding a teacup, pretending to drink tea to hide her guilty conscience.
Xie Yunying: "System, do you think I should go and say something—"
The system warned: "Don't say anything."
"How are you going to explain your source? Nobody in Yanjing knows about Xie Qingyu and Yue Yining's current situation except you, how can that be acceptable? Even if you lie, can you cover it up? Saying nothing is the best policy."
Xie Yunying: "I'm not that stupid. How could I say it directly? I wanted to tell the truth in a roundabout way."
The system was speechless: "How can it be half-covered and half-revealed?"
"Just tell the truth. Then they asked me how I knew, and I said I dreamed about it."
System: ".......Host, please stop making things worse."
Xie Yunying clicked her tongue: "Mainly because seeing them all pacing around so anxiously about this, I felt so stifled..."
Half a month ago, when the news of Xie Qingyu's accident had just reached Yanjing, Xie Yunying used a live-streaming tool to directly see the whereabouts of Xie Qingyu and Yue Yining. She found that the two of them were safe and sound, and she breathed a sigh of relief.
Xie Yunying considered revealing Xie Qingyu and Yue Yining's location so that they could be found quickly. However, firstly, she couldn't read a map and didn't recognize which mountain Yue Yining and Xie Qingyu were on. Secondly, she didn't know who to tell or how to explain the situation clearly.
She is terrible at lying, and she is almost always caught when she lies.
Xie Yunying could only drag it out day by day. Every few days, she would use the props to check on the two people's current situation. They seemed to be out of danger. The system had also assured her repeatedly that no matter how much the world's consciousness collapsed, it wouldn't be so crazy as to kill off the only protagonist. Yue Yining would definitely come back safely.
Xie Yunying: "Uh, what about Xie Qingyu?"
System: "Him? That's hard to say, he's not the main character."
Xie Yunying: "......."
Xie Yunying felt it was necessary to keep an eye on things from time to time to see if her fellow transmigrator, Brother Xie, was still alive. After all, if he were dead, no one in the world would understand her humor and corny jokes anymore. Oh, right, the system isn't human.
At first, that was indeed her only idea.
But she happened to see Xie Qingyu kneeling down to save Yue Yining.
It would be a lie to say she wasn't shocked. Although Xie Yunying thought Xie Qingyu's expression probably meant he didn't take kneeling seriously at all, he knelt down without hesitation. The ground beneath him was hard stone, and he knelt down with a "thud."
It gave her a strange feeling that she was afraid the other party would change their mind if she knelt down too late.
If she hadn't been sure before how deep Xie Qingyu's feelings for Yue Yining were, she would have said that she was now uncertain about the depth of Xie Qingyu's feelings for Yue Yining.
After that battle, she finally understood everything.
The system froze, emitting a series of broken, delayed electronic sounds. It watched helplessly as Xie Qingyu stood up again, dressed in dark robes, shrouded in the night, and walked into the cave.
He knelt on the ground, his sleeves soaked by rain and stained with mud. He rolled them up and used only his clean, dust-free fingers to wipe the sweat from Yue Yining's forehead.
Only then did the system realize that its host was also strangely quiet.
It looked towards its host and saw Xie Yunying's eyes widen, her gaze unfocused, as she murmured, "This is love..."
system:".......?"
Xie Yunying: "What should I do, system? I think I've hit a nerve."
system:"????"
Since then, Xie Yunying would go to Yuan Nanjie's residence every day to win him over, then return home for dinner. Every evening, she would use props in her room on time, and smile strangely at the interaction between Xie Qingyu and Yue Yining on the screen.
System: "..." Its host seems to have completely gone mad.
After the two finished discussing household matters, Xie Yueshuang got up and saw Xie Lianquan out the door. Throughout the entire process, apart from expressing a few words of concern for Xie Qingyu's safety at the beginning, Xie Yunying remained silent. If no one prompted her, she pretended to be clueless and maintained her cold and aloof persona.
Inside the hall, she was the only one left of the three siblings.
Xie Yunying sipped her tea, silently gossiping to the system in her mind: "I didn't expect Xie Lianquan to be so worried about Xie Qingyu. Didn't he want to use someone else to do his dirty work before? I thought he would be secretly happy if Xie Qingyu didn't come back."
“Xie Lianquan himself must understand the pros and cons,” the system said. “If he still held his official position before, he might have been overjoyed, since Xie Qingyu could not survive and he would be the only heir to the title.”
"But he's not what he used to be. His reputation is ruined, he's been stripped of his official position, and he's lost his father, who was a high-ranking official. If his elder brother also disappears, he'll have to face the situation where the Xie family's main branch is struggling to survive and is on the verge of decline. Xie Lianquan is no longer able to support the Xie family's reputation. He'll probably be divided up by the second and third branches and the elders under some pretext, and he'll have to hand over the position of family head to someone else."
"Second sister."
Xie Yueshuang's soft call nearly scared Xie Yunying out of her wits. Turning her head, she saw Xie Yueshuang, dressed in a pale yellow ruqun (a type of traditional Chinese dress), standing outside the door, smiling at her before she even crossed the threshold.
Xie Yunying was surprised that Xie Yueshuang had returned and even initiated a conversation with her. She pinched her palm, barely managing to maintain her composure, and replied with a hint of arrogance, "Did you need something from me, elder sister?"
To everyone's surprise, Xie Yueshuang's opening remark was like a thunderclap: "Second sister, do you know something?"
Xie Yunying froze, almost stammering, "B-Big sister, what do you mean by that?"
Xie Yueshuang looked over, her tone gentle and tactful, but it startled Xie Yunying: "I just feel that my second sister seems to have grown up. Even though her eldest brother is missing, she can still act so calmly and not at all impatient."
"It's as if you know something," Xie Yueshuang laughed. "Look at me, rambling on and on. How could Second Sister possibly know anything about Eldest Brother?"
Xie Yunying's scalp tingled. The system frantically reminded her: "Host, don't just stand there! Say something! Retort to her! Otherwise, you'll be out of character!!"
"...Heh." Xie Yunying swallowed back the cowardly urge that was about to escape her lips, and sneered, "I just can't stand what you're saying, big sister."
"Are you implying that I wasn't worried enough about my older brother's safety? Or are you subtly mocking me for not being steady and mature enough before?" Xie Yunying snorted, flicked her crimson sleeves, stood up, and looked at Xie Yueshuang with icy eyes. "I think older sister is deliberately trying to make me unhappy."
Xie Yueshuang's smile faded, and she placed her hands together steadily in front of her waist, still maintaining the dignified posture of a well-bred young lady.
Upon hearing this, she paused for a moment, then chuckled softly, "I misspoke, please forgive me, Second Sister."
"Sister, you should go back too and get some rest."
Xie Yunying stood there, maintaining her posture, coldly watching Xie Yueshuang walk away until she was out of sight. Only then did she relax, feeling utterly exhausted: "My god, how can pretending be so tiring..."
System: "Let's hurry up and leave, host, lest she come back."
Back in her bedroom at Qiufang Courtyard, after dismissing the servants, Xie Yunying finally felt much more relaxed. Lying on the bed, she thought about Xie Qingyu and Yue Yining, and a little itchy again: "System, can I...?"
The system replied coldly, "No."
Xie Yunying immediately wailed, "Why?!"
System: "Host, you've been using live-streaming props far too frequently lately. While these props aren't expensive, the sheer volume of consumption adds up to a hefty price tag. You should check your balance; redeeming more will put you in debt."
Xie Yunying glanced at her bank account balance, closed her eyes, and passed away peacefully.
Seeing her utterly dejected state, the system felt a pang of pity: "Host, you can finish today's tasks first. The money you save up will be enough to buy a livestream prop—"
Xie Yunying sprang back to life with a quick movement: "What mission?!"
The mission turned out to be related to Yuan Nanjie again.
Xie Yunying comforted herself, "Forget it, the mission guide has been cut down. I only need to deal with Yuan Nanjie to be resurrected. What is there to complain about?"
The girl in red in front of him was muttering to herself with her eyes closed, which Yuan Nanjie couldn't hear. He hesitated for a moment, then gripped the wheelchair with both hands and slowly moved closer. As soon as he got close, he heard Xie Yunying chanting: "...Ulanara, God of Darkness, inner demon, exorcise!"
Yuan Nanjie: "......?"
When Xie Yunying opened her eyes, she was so startled to find Yuan Nanjie right in front of her that she almost fell off her chair. She stammered, "W-how did you get here!"
Yuan Nanjie sat in his wheelchair, bathed in the soft afternoon light, his white robes as pristine as snow. He looked at her and said softly, "Second Miss seems troubled?"
Xie Yunying felt a little embarrassed and ashamed under his gaze: "I wouldn't say, it's not exactly a problem... Ah, can I stay here a little longer today?"
Yuan Nanjie paused for a moment: "...Why?"
Because her task was to stay here for two full hours... Xie Yunying silently shed tears, her black pearl-like eyes darting around, and she lied, "Because, because I want to stay with you a little longer."
Xie Yunying didn't care about anything else anymore. She simply lost face, leaned over and tugged at his sleeve, pleading in a soft voice, "Young Master Yuan, please say yes?"
She suddenly approached, and Yuan Nanjie stiffened. Then, she clung to him and shook her arm playfully, leaving him somewhat at a loss: "Okay, I agree."
Xie Yunying was overjoyed: "Really?!"
When such a smiling face appeared before him, Yuan Nanjie was stunned and unconsciously gripped the armrest tighter.
"...Don't you get bored?" he suddenly asked.
This wasn't Xie Yunying's first visit to him, but Yuan Nanjie considered himself a very boring person. Every time he received her before, she was the one who kept him company while he read.
Xie Yunying clearly didn't like reading. When Yuan Nanjie was reading, he would occasionally glance at her, but she was either dozing off while holding the book or spacing out, taking half an hour to turn a page.
Yuan Nanjie thought she would give up sooner or later, realize that they were not on the same path, and that he was not worth her pursuit and entanglement, so she would stop bothering him.
But he seems to be wrong.
The rumored second young lady of the Xie family is restless and unpredictable, and has a habit of giving up halfway. He is the only exception for her.
Xie Yunying replied matter-of-factly, "No way, how could I be bored staying with you?"
Yuan Nanjie was stunned upon hearing this and abruptly turned his face away. Xie Yunying then realized that what she had said might have been too blunt, but she didn't care—her goal was him after all, and she wasn't afraid of him misunderstanding; she was just afraid that he wouldn't.
As she was thinking this, she didn't see Yuan Nanjie's ear tips, which were translucent and red in the sunlight, like a piece of red-hot white porcelain.
After finishing her mission, Xie Yunying returned home as the sun set. She hurriedly ate dinner, took a shower, and then rushed to bed: "Quick! System! Exchange items for me!"
System: "...Host, what's the rush?"
Xie Yunying said solemnly, "You don't understand. This is how we drug addicts are when we're high. We feel uncomfortable if we don't take it for a day."
system:"?"
The system truly didn't understand. It obediently changed the props and operated as instructed, but suddenly gasped: "Hiss... Host, there's no way to move you to Xie Qingyu's vicinity for the time being."
Xie Yunying: "Huh? Why?"
"The program automatically blocked it, saying it was within the scope of prohibited live streaming content," the system said. "He was taking a shower."
Xie Yunying: "..."
Xie Yunying: "What should I do! I've already used all the props! Can you process a refund for me?!"
System: "Dear customer, we do not have after-sales service authorization here."
Xie Yunying: "..."
Just as Xie Yunying was about to explode, the system quickly intervened: "However, in this situation, we can extend the time for the host for free, randomly move to the vicinity of an important character to broadcast the live first, and then broadcast it again after the originally selected character is no longer in the prohibited content category. Only after the broadcast will the item usage time be officially calculated. This is also possible."
Xie Yunying reluctantly accepted, glaring at him and urging, "Then hurry up and turn it on!"
The scene before her melted like cream, then solidified again, and she found herself in an unfamiliar cave. Xie Yunying looked around and realized that this was not Yue Yining's residence; this was the first time she had been teleported to this place.
As she wondered why no one was here, she heard hurried footsteps behind her. She turned around and was greeted by a corner of the curtain being lifted, and the dim yellow light coming in from outside, scattering like a golden tide.
"I heard the general agreed to her request."
Xie Yunying dodged to the side and watched as the two women entered the cave one after the other. The one in front was tall and wore thin armor with a sword at her side; the one behind wore short, dark red clothes, had a slender waist, and carried an oil lamp, the light of which was spilling out.
Xie Yunying recognized the woman who entered the cave behind her. Her name seemed to be... Jiang something-Yan? Xie Qingyu had been forced to kneel down by her, so Xie Yunying had a deep impression of her face.
But she couldn't quite recognize the woman with striking features in front of her.
A general? Is this person still a general?
Jiang Feiyan walked in carrying a lantern. Seeing He Chan sitting by the couch, she swallowed hard and asked nervously, "...Really? You really promised Yue Yining to go down the mountain with her?"
“Really.” He Chan replied, half of her face hidden in the shadows where the light didn’t reach. “I’ve discussed it with Lao Jiang, and she agreed.”
He Chan explained their conversation with Yue Yining and the whole story behind it. Jiang Feiyan sat cross-legged at He Chan's feet, tilting her head slightly, watching her lips open and close, but she seemed a little distracted.
She thought of the past. She rarely reminisced about the past because it was almost always unpleasant experiences.
Jiang Feiyan was once an ordinary, unremarkable woman, quiet and gentle, accepting whatever fate brought her. Born into a farming family, they struggled to make ends meet; her family consisted of six people: three daughters and one son. Given this situation, one can imagine how difficult her life was as the youngest daughter.
Since she was old enough to understand, Jiang Feiyan had been looking forward to the day she would come of age and get married.
Marrying a good man and building a small family together is the only way out for all ordinary women, and the only possibility for them to escape misfortune and move towards happiness.
She knew she was pretty, having inherited all the best features from her parents. Even her older sister often said that among all the daughters in the neighborhood, her younger sister was the most outstanding.
Once you realize you're beautiful, it's hard not to have expectations.
What young woman hasn't dreamed of marrying a king or general?
Jiang Feiyan was already considered timid; she never even considered marrying into a wealthy or powerful family. She would read stories in novels and think that if she could meet a poor but talented scholar, that would be wonderful. She would marry him, accompany him through the imperial examinations, and become an official's wife, managing the household and raising their children—a life more dignified than just being well-fed and clothed. Even that kind of life would be enough for her.
To her surprise, she actually met such a scholar.
In Qinghuai City, amidst the bustling traffic and noisy markets, she and Zhang Ming met at a food stall. They both reached out to touch a steaming hot sweet potato, almost touching each other's hands, before quickly pulling back and turning to look at each other.
It was exactly like the meeting of the male and female protagonists in a storybook.
Jiang Feiyan panicked and dared not linger any longer. She hurriedly tried to leave, but Zhang Ming stopped her.
"Wait a moment, young lady!"
The handsome scholar, with a hint of red on his ears, gazed intently at her without flinching. "My surname is Zhang. May I ask your name, young lady?"
Jiang Feiyan clutched her coarse floral shirt tightly, and spoke shyly and haltingly.
Zhang Ming smiled and said, "The clear shadows flit across the waves, and beauty springs freely in the heart. It's a truly beautiful name."
Jiang Feiyan's heart trembled upon hearing this, and she dared not say another word before hastily fleeing.
No one had ever praised her name. She knew it was just a name her parents had chosen casually, without any deeper meaning; it was just his interpretation that made it sound nice.
But her heart was beating so fast for the first time.
As if it were a predestined marriage, she met Zhang Ming, and naturally married him after his proposal. Zhang Ming treated her very well. Although the Zhang family was poor, Jiang Feiyan felt extremely happy because of Zhang Ming. Having never received any favoritism from her parents, she experienced for the first time what it felt like to be cherished and loved.
If a person has any regrets in their childhood, they will try their best to make up for them when they grow up. Her regrets are probably like that.
Zhang Ming gave her nothing but concern and sweet words. The dowry box contained only a few hundred copper coins and a silver hairpin. She put on the red veil and married him without complaint or regret. Her marriage felt like a martyr's expedition.
Fortunately, Zhang Ming was indeed talented and learned. Only a year after she married him, he passed the provincial examination and became a Juren (a successful candidate in the provincial examination). When Zhang Ming returned home that day, he hugged her and said that once he became an official, their lives would improve.
"Ayan, you must also be hoping that I'll get better and better, right?"
Jiang Feiyan didn't notice the unease in Zhang Ming's voice. She only felt that he seemed to be holding her with great force, and her waist ached from being squeezed so tightly in his arms. She didn't complain; instead, she felt a sweetness in it.
“Of course,” she replied to her husband with a smile. “I am your wife. I ask for nothing more than for you to get better and better.”
Jiang Feiyan thought it was just an insignificant love confession.
But when she woke up, she was no longer at home. The bed and bedding were covered in crimson waves, piled high with gold and jade. She felt as if she were in a dream, unsure whether what she was seeing was real or an illusion.
Her husband sold her to gain a high-ranking official position and offered his wife to a high-ranking official in Qinghuai as a concubine.
She fell into the deepest abyss once again, unable to escape. She considered suicide, but each time she would fall off the stool in a sorry state before the white silk ribbon was put around her neck, then kneel on the ground and weep bitterly, wailing for her own cowardice in clinging to life.
In the end, her tears ran dry, and her body became nothing but withered skin and bones. She endured it numbly, yet at certain moments, an uncontrollable, boiling, burning desire would rise in her heart, causing her to cry out hoarsely and plead desperately.
Please, please.
Who will save her?
Someone, please save her...
Anyone, even just one person, would be willing to pull her out of her misery, as long as such a person appears—
Tears streamed down Jiang Feiyan's face. Just as she was about to close her eyes, a sharp white light slashed through the air.
Her eyes widened as she watched the large knife plunge into her neck. With a gentle slash, the demon clinging to her was decapitated, its blood spurting out and staining her head and face.
The one holding the knife was a woman with striking features and a fierce, bloodthirsty aura.
She looked at Jiang Feiyan, who was sitting blankly on the bed, her long sword stained with blood, and spoke in a hoarse, low voice: "I'm sorry. I got your clothes dirty."
That was Jiang Feiyan and He Chan's first encounter. A chilling blade, mountains of corpses and seas of blood.
She sat blankly in the blood-soaked bed for a long time before remembering to leave. She hurriedly put on her clothes and stumbled after He Chan's figure as she went out.
The bright white sunlight hitting her face stirred up tears in her eyes, which then streamed down her face.
She stood under the eaves, as if she wanted to cry out all the bitterness she had suffered in her life, carrying a blatant hatred and a relieved peace.
When He Chan asked who wanted to go with her, Jiang Feiyan stepped forward without hesitation. Her long hair was disheveled, she was barefoot, and there was a large pool of blood on her clothes.
She smiled at He Chan, though it was more like a grimace, but it was the first time she had smiled since falling into the abyss. "Can I borrow your knife?"
He Chan gave it to her. Jiang Feiyan gripped the long knife, hardened her heart, and swung it at her face. Just as she felt a sharp pain in the corner of her eye, her wrist was firmly grasped, and she could not move an inch further.
Jiang Feiyan opened her blood-covered eyes and saw He Chan holding her hand.
Her lips trembled as she said, "...Let me ruin this face. It's all because of it that I'm in such a miserable state."
She wished she had never been a beautiful woman. A woman's beauty always seems to become a curse, a source of trouble. Because of her beauty, Zhang Ming fell in love with her at first sight; because of her beauty, corrupt officials were lusting after her. Did she ever encounter anything good because of her face? No, never. All her misery stemmed from it.
She no longer wanted to be "observed." She no longer wanted to be a pure and gentle fairy; she wanted to become a demon wielding a blade.
He Chan looked at her and said, "Name."
"...Jiang Feiyan."
“Jiang Feiyan, listen carefully.” He Chan slowly lowered her hand, her sword-like eyebrows and cold eyes staring at her. “A woman’s beauty is a blessing, not a fault.”
"You shouldn't ruin your appearance, but instead take a knife and chop at those who covet your beauty, so that they will never dare to lust after you again, so that they will wish they could gouge out their own eyes, so that they will be terrified whenever they see a beautiful woman."
"If you can't lift the knife, I'll teach you."
Jiang Feiyan looked at her; blood was still flowing, and hot tears fell down her cheeks.
She followed He Chan without complaint or regret, this time truly without regret. Even if one day she were to die because of He Chan, she would be willing, without any lingering resentment.
“…Okay.” Jiang Feiyan listened quietly to He Chan’s words and said nothing more. “You are our general. Since you have made your plans, I will listen to you without hesitation.”
He Chan looked at the girl sitting at her feet, reached out and touched her head. "I've told you many times, you don't need to call me General, just call me by my name He Chan."
Jiang Feiyan replied firmly, "That won't do."
He Chan sighed helplessly, "You child..."
"Wait a minute," Xie Yunying murmured, repeating, "He Chan?"
System: "What's wrong, host?"
Xie Yunying: "Why does this name sound so familiar...?"
"ah!!"
Xie Yunying suddenly let out a scream, startling the system's data. Just as they were about to ask what was wrong with her again, Xie Yunying exclaimed in shock, "Isn't He Chan the leader of the peasant uprising that ultimately destroyed Dongxi?!"
system:"????"
"How did you know, host? It wasn't mentioned in the original book, was it?"
Xie Yunying: "It's written there, did you not read it carefully?"
The system was dumbfounded. It went back and searched the ebook again, but couldn't find any mention of the rebel leader: "No, I've looked everywhere. Where did you see it, host?"
Xie Yunying: "It seems like it was mentioned briefly in the extra chapter, right?"
"An extra chapter?!" The system was shocked. "This novel doesn't have any extra chapters!"
Xie Yunying was speechless: "I already said I had it. You couldn't find it because you were looking at the e-book, but you gave me the physical book, and the physical book has newly published extra chapters!"
system:"......."
Xie Yunying ignored the system, which was in disarray, and muttered to herself, "Could it be that the original storyline has been affected by the butterfly effect once again? It's really quite different from what I expected."
System: "...If she is indeed the rebel general you mentioned, then she is a major reason for the destruction of the Eastern Xi Kingdom."
“…Feiyan, she’s right.” He Chan looked down at Jiang Feiyan and said in a low voice, “The best punishment for someone like Che Zilong is to make him watch everything he has be taken away and vanish into thin air. Rather than fighting him to the death, it’s better to use greater power to crush him. An eye for an eye is the best revenge against him.”
“I know you’ve always had a demon in your heart. You’ve been with me the longest, and I’ve seen it all. This demon has been haunting you for far too long, but I also understand that only you can get rid of it. The best way to overcome your demon is to become stronger than it.” He Chan gently stroked her soft head. “Then you will be able to completely break free from the past and be reborn.”
“You are Jiang Feiyan. You will never be trapped by those people and things for too long.”
Jiang Feiyan lay on her lap without saying a word, but He Chan could clearly feel water gradually spreading between her knees, a cool touch.
Xie Yunying stared blankly at the scene, momentarily forgetting everything she had just been thinking. Then the system suddenly spoke up: "Host, we've detected that Xie Qingyu's broadcast is working normally. I'll transfer it to you now?"
Xie Yunying snapped out of her daze and quickly replied, "Okay."
She took one last look at the backs of the two women, and with a flash of light, she found herself outside the cave where Yue Yining and Xie Qingyu lived.
Xie Yunying turned around and saw Xie Qingyu. He had obviously just finished bathing, with water droplets still clinging to the ends of his hair. He was dressed in a white robe and looked very clean.
Seeing that Xie Qingyu was about to enter the cave, she quickly followed.
Inside the cave, the candlelight was extinguished, a long blue robe hung at the foot of the bed, and Yue Yining, lying on the bed, was breathing steadily, seemingly having fallen into a deep sleep.
Xie Yunying watched as Xie Qingyu walked over, bent down, and knelt by the bed, gently tucking the blanket around her. The rustling of the fabric was so quiet that it was almost inaudible.
The cave was dark, with only a faint moonlight shining through the moss on the ground.
He gazed at Yue Yining's sleeping face.
Xie Yunying had witnessed this scene many times before. But she always felt that Xie Qingyu was particularly strange tonight, as if she was enduring and suffering. Her pale red lips were slightly pursed and even trembled slightly.
He reached out and brushed aside the dark blue hair that was tangled around Yue Yining's temples.
The moonlight rises from the clouds, its bright glow illuminating the vast expanse of land and shining down upon the world.
Xie Yunying's eyes widened.
The young man in white knelt on the ground, leaning over the bedside, and slowly lowered his head. Such a devout kiss, his lips carrying humble desire and agonizing self-pity, gently imprinted on her forehead.
He kissed her.
His faith died, vanished into thin air. The morality, perseverance, and aspirations that sustained him for half his life collapsed in some unknown corner. His indulgent heart became a murderous sword, and his rolling tears transformed into pearls of gratitude. He finally agreed to admit that she was both his grace and his sin.
Like a drowning man grabbing a rope, or a frozen man rushing to a campfire, he was anxious, fearful, and cautious, condemning his own greed and ugliness, before bending down to embrace his moon.
From not daring to love her, to being unable to stop loving her.
He shed the lonely moonlight, and died in longing; in this life, he died for love.
Xie Yunying witnessed everything and stood there stunned until Xie Qingyu slowly got up, cleaned up the basin of water on the ground, lifted the curtain and walked out of the cave.
Xie Yunying did not follow them out. She had a strong premonition that time was running out and she would have to leave soon.
Just as she was about to disappear, she saw Yue Yining, who was sleeping peacefully on the bed, slowly open her eyes.
There was not a trace of haze in Heishan Baishui's eyes; he was as awake as if he had never been asleep.

Author's Note: The second case is finally coming to an end! Compared to the helplessness of the first case, I had much richer ideas for character development in the second case, and I'm quite satisfied with how I wrote it. I continued my stance from the first case—every woman should never wallow in self-pity or passively accept injustice and misery, but rather seize the opportunity to rise up and fight back.
This time, I incorporated elements of armed resistance. In many stories about women, direct use of force to resist is rare. With this in mind, I decided to give the main characters of the second case the power of force, to give them the courage and strength to cleanse the world of its blades.
He Chan, Jiang Feiyan, and Jiang Chiyin will also shine brightly in the future, just like the three main characters in the first case~ [Let me see] (but I won't elaborate on them).
The main characters in each case are all closely related to the original true history, and all the key female characters together form the truth that rises and falls in the annals of history. I will write it down little by little, and when the truth is revealed, everyone will understand.
