Chapter 47 Reencounter with Feng Yuli

A childish voice suddenly rang out in the ward, startling everyone present. They all turned their attention to Nan Yuanman, not noticing that Lin Chenyi's expression suddenly froze when he heard the word "weasel."

The woman who had been sobbing by the hospital bed looked up, her eyes red, and stared at Nan Yuanman, saying angrily and disgustedly, "It's you again!"

"Brother Lin, this child is very strange. Just now, when you were unconscious, she suddenly rushed in with a copper coin sword, muttering something incoherently. It's incredibly unlucky! Get her out of here right now!" Shen Mengjie grabbed Lin Chenyi's hand and shouted loudly.

Meng Qinian's smile suddenly faded.

The others in the ward frowned and said disapprovingly, "Miss Chen, please watch your words. This young lady was brought by Mr. Meng. She has no ill intentions towards Brother Lin."

Someone muttered under their breath, "Don't the old folks always say that children's 'third eye' isn't closed yet, and they can see things that adults can't? Maybe she's telling the truth..."

It wasn't that they were superstitious, but Lin Chenyi's sudden coma was too strange. Not to mention, after a full-body examination, they still couldn't find the cause of his coma.

"Xiao Hao, this is a scientific society, don't indulge in feudal superstitions." Lin Chenyi suppressed the surging emotions in his heart, smiled at Nan Yuanman, and said in a friendly and gentle manner, "Little friend, could it be that you saw it wrong?"

"I didn't see wrong, big brother." Nan Yuanman's clear, black and white eyes stared straight at Lin Chenyi, then slowly looked behind him.

Lin Chenyi carried a wisp of a weasel's soul on his back. That soul contained deep resentment and was willing to risk being unable to reincarnate to take his life. This showed that he must have offended a weasel that had become a spirit in the past.

Nan Yuanman tilted his head slightly, puzzled. But how could there be a red thread connecting this weasel to this older brother?

Can humans and demons fall in love?

Lin Chenyi noticed her gaze, his body suddenly stiffened, his breathing seemed to become even more difficult, and he didn't dare to turn his head to look back.

Nan Yuanman pointed to his back: "That weasel is on your back. Big brother, you should find someone to deal with it, otherwise you'll still die."

Lin Chenyi's pupils contracted sharply. Shen Mengjie was annoyed and reached out to push Nan Yuanman: "How dare you talk like that, you little brat!"

Meng Qinian didn't give her a chance to touch Nan Yuanman. With a swift movement, he lifted her up and placed her behind him. He glanced at Lin Chenyi and said in an exceptionally cold voice, "My sister has been able to see things that others can't since she was little. She was just kindly reminding me. Whether you believe it or not is up to you."

Lin Chenyi forced a smile, opened his mouth as if to deny it again, but when he met Nan Yuanman's overly clear eyes, which seemed to see through everything, he couldn't say a word.

The atmosphere in the ward suddenly became heavy. Meng Qinian clicked his tongue impatiently, grumbling as he carried Nan Yuanman away: "Jiang Lixuan has terrible eyesight. Didn't he do any background checks when hiring employees? How could he dare to hire someone with such low character? Does he have too much money to burn?"

The studio employees who heard his cursing looked quite embarrassed. Recalling what Nan Yuanman had just said, they felt that the ward was eerie.

"Well, Brother Lin, you should get some rest first. We're going back to eat and train." The blond-haired young man coughed lightly, left a few words hastily, and hurriedly left the ward.

The others also found excuses to leave.

Shen Mengjie said angrily, "What kind of people are they! They have no brotherhood at all. Brother Lin, you took such good care of them before, but now that you're sick, not a single one of them stayed behind!"

Lin Chenyi didn't speak, but slowly moved his shoulders. He didn't know if it was just his imagination, but he felt a heavy weight on his back and his breathing became increasingly difficult.

His eyes flickered, and he spoke in a hoarse voice, "Never mind, Mengjie, I didn't have anything to do anyway. They're just wasting training time by staying."

Shen Mengjie pouted unhappily, then turned to see Lin Chenyi's preoccupied expression and quickly asked, "Brother Lin, you didn't believe that kid's words, did you?"

"This is a scientific society now! All those ghosts and monsters are just feudal superstitions to fool you!"

"I think that kid was sent by the rivals to mess with your mentality and make you lose the next game."

Lin Chenyi didn't speak, his hand under the blanket slowly clenching into a fist. After Shen Mengjie had finished speaking, he spoke in a hoarse voice: "Mengjie, do you still remember... Xueyan?"

Shen Mengjie's indignant expression suddenly froze, and a hint of unease appeared on her face: "W-why did you suddenly bring her up?"

She lowered her eyes: "I know, Brother Lin, you've never really forgotten Sister Xueyan, have you? But then again, no man who was loved so passionately by Sister Xueyan would easily forget her."

“But…” Shen Mengjie sighed softly, looked up at Lin Chenyi, and said with great heartache, “Brother Lin, Sister Xueyan has been gone for more than half a year. You have to keep looking forward.”

Lin Chenyi hummed in agreement, inwardly finding it utterly ridiculous. How could that be? How could Huang Xueyan possibly be a weasel spirit?

As he thought this, Lin Chenyi's mind flashed back to the thing he encountered a year ago when he returned to his hometown and got up to use the bathroom at night...

After he angrily said those things to it, Huang Xueyan appeared in his life...

Is it a coincidence?

It must be a coincidence.

"You're biting the hand that feeds you! You don't appreciate kindness!" Meng Qinian was still cursing when, as he was carrying Nan Yuanman and preparing to take the elevator downstairs, his stomach suddenly rumbled a few times.

Meng Qinian's expression changed, and he squeezed his long legs together: "Hiss...!"

He looked around frantically while holding Nan Yuanman, then placed her on a bench in the corridor: "Yuanman, my stomach hurts, I need to go to the toilet. You sit here and wait for me, okay? I'll be right back!"

Nan Yuanman nodded obediently: "Okay."

Meng Qinian was worried, so before leaving he went to the nurses' station to give them a few more instructions, then borrowed some toilet paper and went straight to the restroom.

Nan Yuanman sat on a bench in the corridor. She was small, and her legs couldn't even reach the ground. She sat there idly swinging her legs and occasionally putting her hands in her handbag to tease the grass. The waiting process wasn't too boring.

Perhaps her shoes had been worn for too long and were no longer a good fit. When Nan Yuanman wiggled her feet again, her foot slipped, and her old cloth shoes flew off with a whoosh.

Feng Yuli, who had just settled his elderly father and was about to get something to eat, happened to pass by and was hit on the calf by a small cloth shoe.

Feng Yuli paused, slowly looked down, and saw a brown, handmade children's cloth shoe lying in front of him. The shoe was old and had many patches.

He turned his head and met the gaze of a bewildered baby sitting on a bench, feet up.

The moment Feng Yuli saw Nanmanyuan, his expression froze.

This little girl's eyebrows and eyes... how come they look a bit like the old man's?
