Chapter 389 A Perfect Rescue!

As night deepened, the sounds of the bustling food stalls downstairs could be faintly heard outside the window, but Di Sheng's house remained unusually quiet.

After burning paper money and offering incense, Di Sheng was tired. She cooked herself some millet porridge, stir-fried some vegetables, and put two bowls of porridge on the table. She ate while chatting with Gao Yibei.

From the strange people she encountered at work to asking Gao Yibei what he wanted to name their child after it was born, she couldn't help but laugh as she asked Gao Yibei, "Hey, honey, do you remember when you told me that if we had a child, you would name it 'Loan Shark'?"

"Let me complain to you, calling it 'usury' is not as good as calling it 'happy'! At least 'happy' is easier to write."

Gao Yibei listened quietly, his gaze on her gentle yet complex, a hint of heartache flashing in his eyes.

Lost in her own thoughts, Di Sheng didn't notice that Gao Yibei hadn't touched the bowl of porridge, nor did she care whether he responded to her words.

After Di Sheng finished eating, she rested for a while and then took a shower. Halfway through her shower, she realized she had forgotten to bring her hair drying cap. She called out to the outside, "Honey, get me my hair drying cap!"

Gao Yibei responded, found her hair drying cap, and reached out to take it, but his hand passed right through the cap.

Gao Yibei stared blankly at his hand, then slowly clenched it into a fist, controlling the ghostly energy, and handed the dried hair cap to her.

He sat quietly on the sofa, seemingly thinking about many things, yet also seemingly thinking about nothing at all.

"Honey, what are you doing? I called you so many times and you didn't hear me." Di Sheng's slightly complaining voice came from behind him: "I'm out of body lotion, I asked you to get it for me..."

"Sheng Sheng." Gao Yibei blinked slowly, looking up at Di Sheng: "You've always been lucid, haven't you? You already knew I wasn't..."

Before he could finish speaking, a look of panic flashed across Di Sheng's face, and her complexion drained. She hurriedly interrupted him, "What nonsense are you spouting? Am I not awake? Am I asleep right now?"

"If you don't want to help me get it, then don't! I'll get it myself!" Di Sheng said in a little tantrum, then hurriedly ran into the bedroom, opened the drawer with trembling hands, and took out a new bottle of body lotion.

She sat on the bed, her back to the door, silently applying body lotion to her thighs.

A moment later, a cold body pressed against her back, and Gao Yibei's voice, tinged with a sigh, rang in her ear: "I should have found out a long time ago. My Sheng Sheng is so smart, and I'm so stupid. I didn't pretend well at all. How could she not have found out?"

Di Sheng didn't speak. Her fingertips, which had regained some warmth after her shower, slowly cooled down. She pursed her lips, and her eyes gradually reddened.

Gao Yibei turned his head and gently kissed her hair. He sat down beside her, gently touching her shoulders with both hands, wanting her to look at him.

Di Sheng kept her eyes down and didn't meet his gaze.

"Sheng Sheng, look at me, I... I'm already dead." Gao Yibei's lips opened and closed again, and finally he hardened his heart and choked out, "And the child... I lied to you."

"It was my child, disguised with ghostly energy, that made you think you were still pregnant. Our real child was very sensible; he didn't stay, so you'll become a single mother and have a hard life."

"Sheng Sheng, forget me."

Gao Yibei moved closer to her, his forehead touching hers: "Look ahead, Sheng Sheng."

Di Sheng bit her lip hard, tears streaming down her face. She finally gasped, her body convulsing as she cried, "Look forward? Gao Yibei, how can I look forward?"

"In one day, I lost my husband and child, and the two kindest old people in the world to me were gone too..."

"I...I simply can't look forward."

She opened her arms, trying to grab Gao Yibei's clothes, but could only grasp at a wisp of air.

Di Sheng felt a heart-wrenching pain, tears streaming down her face, and asked him desperately, "Since you've been lying to me for so long, why, why don't you lie to me a little longer?"

"I'm willing to be deceived by you! No matter if you're dead or... whatever else, I'm willing to stay by your side forever, it doesn't matter if I'm deceived by you for the rest of my life."

Reality is too brutal and too bitter.

Di Sheng's early life was already very difficult. Because of her weak health, she was abandoned by her parents in an orphanage when she was young. After struggling to grow up, she finally met the person she loved for life, but fate played a cruel joke on her.

How could she accept this, how could she let it go?

She was in pain, but Gao Yibei was in even greater pain. What pained him most was that he could only watch her cry, unable to give her a hug like he did when she was alive.

"You're leaving, aren't you?" Di Sheng seemed to understand something, looking at him stubbornly and frantically: "Take me with you, please, take me with you."

"Please..."

"Take me with you."

Seeing Di Sheng crying so hard her whole body was convulsing, Gao Yibei's heart sank slightly. He leaned forward and gently kissed her wet cheek, softly and tenderly comforting her: "Okay, I'll take you away, don't cry anymore, okay?"

"She just finished taking a bath and is crying like a little kitten again."

Di Sheng sniffed and stared intently at him: "You're not lying to me?"

Gao Yibei: "Yeah, I'm not lying to you."

He smiled helplessly: "Having been with you for so long, when have I ever lied to you?"

Di Sheng held back for a moment, then couldn't help but mutter, "...Just now."

Gao Yibei was speechless for a moment, then tapped her head: "Go wash your face and go to sleep. When you wake up, your wish will come true."

Di Sheng looked at him intently, then washed her face as instructed. Gao Yibei coaxed her to lie down on the bed. Before she could speak, a wave of drowsiness suddenly washed over her, and she tilted her head and fell into a deep sleep.

Gao Yibei placed his hand on her stomach, carefully withdrawing the ghostly energy from within her. He then gazed at her intently for a long time before finally placing his hand on her head…

The next day.

Di Sheng slept very soundly, as if she hadn't had a good night's sleep in a long time.

She lazily sat up in bed, shook her blank mind, and felt like she had forgotten something, and her heart felt empty, but when she thought about it carefully, it seemed like she hadn't forgotten anything.

Di Sheng simply dismissed the strange thought and was about to go wash up when her hand touched something hard.

Di Sheng looked down and found a talisman placed next to her pillow. She blinked, picked it up, and muttered to herself, "Did the headmistress get this talisman for me? I don't think I've seen it before."

"Never mind, I guess I've been too busy lately and forgot. I'll go wash up and turn on the computer to get back to work..."

As Di Sheng entered the restroom, a dark shadow slowly disappeared behind her...

-

Feng Family Manor.

Feng Langqing yawned as he came down the stairs, and from a distance, he saw a dark figure sitting on the sofa.

Feng Langqing rubbed his eyes and looked over, only to see a bloody, mangled face that was unrecognizable.

Feng Langqing: "!!!"

"Oh my god!! There's a ghost!!!"

"Perfect! Save my life!!"
