Chapter 4 Ghost Before Corpse After

Meanwhile, at the southern house at the village entrance.

As Yuanman lay sprawled inside the coffin, her buttocks sticking out, a terrified scream seemed to reach her ears as she slept soundly on Grandpa Nan's chest.

She woke up with a start, rubbing her sleepy eyes as she slowly sat up. She sat on the coffin for a while, lost in thought, before belatedly coming to her senses. She nervously gripped the little scarecrow in her hand and looked around.

She blurted out instinctively, "Grandpa, it sounded like someone was calling me just now. Yuanman is a little scared. Can you hug her?"

After he finished speaking, the lobby fell silent.

Yuanman paused for a moment, then belatedly realized that her grandfather was sick and asleep.

He's still sick and can't hug her.

At the same time, the screams in Yuanman's ears became clearer and clearer, as if someone was shouting in her ear with a megaphone.

Yuanman covered her ears, but the scream pierced through her hands and rang in her ears.

She took a deep breath and patted her chest: "It's okay, Yuanman is a big five-year-old now, don't be afraid."

Yuanman, with her short legs, crawled out of the coffin: "Grandpa, be good. Yuanman is going out to take a look and will be back in a little while."

Nan Yuanman ran into the courtyard, stood on tiptoe and looked in the direction the sound came from. She saw that the Zheng family, which was a few houses away from her house, was shrouded in an ominous red mist.

The mist exuded an extremely strong resentment, the same resentment she had seen emanating from the blood-clad female ghost at the funeral hall earlier that day.

The seeds sown by the Zheng family are beginning to bear fruit.

"Oh no!" Nan Yuanman slapped her forehead, suddenly remembering that she had only given Zheng Feiyu a small coffin for protection today, and hadn't given one to that human trafficker uncle.

Will he also be implicated and purged by the Zheng family?

Yuanman frowned, her small face full of struggle. Should she... go and save them?

But today her uncle scolded her, saying she was a bad person, but...

Grandpa said that her kinship with her mother's side of the family had not been severed, and that failing to help someone in distress would affect her future spiritual practice.

After hesitating for a while, Nan Yuanman finally decided to listen to his grandfather, holding the little scarecrow in his hand, and went out to save people.

She had barely stepped out the door when, after a whole day of silence, a creaking sound began to emanate from the coffin.

A dark shadow silently crawled out of the coffin...

-

The Zheng family.

Zheng Feiyu's pupils contracted sharply, his face turned pale, and under extreme fear, his adrenaline surged. He screamed and subconsciously turned and ran back to his room.

He turned around, and the blood-clad female ghost appeared behind him.

Zheng Feiyu: "!!!"

He turned and ran, tumbling and crawling downstairs.

Zheng Feiyu was terrified. Could someone please tell him that ghosts really exist in this world?!

At the same time, Jiang Lixuan downstairs was also being chased frantically upstairs by the zombie-turned corpses.

Jiang Lixuan heard the messy, heavy footsteps coming from above from afar. His eyes lit up. Was Zheng Feiyu coming out to find him?

He ran uphill with all his might, shouting as he ran, "Zheng Feiyu! Go get help! Your grandfather has come back to life!!"

No sooner had he finished speaking than he heard Zheng Feiyu scream in terror: "Brother Xuan! There's a ghost!!"

Jiang Lixuan: "!"

He suddenly looked up and saw Zheng Feiyu running desperately downhill, followed by a female ghost dressed in blood, her face streaked with blood and tears.

Jiang Lixuan: "Holy crap!!"

Without hesitation, he turned to run back, only to see the resurrected Zheng family patriarch walking stiffly toward him, his face pale and ashen.

Jiang Lixuan felt a wave of despair. There was a female ghost in front of him and a resurrected old man behind him.

Is God going to make him lose his life here today?!

In the few brief seconds that Jiang Lixuan paused, Zheng Feiyu had already run to his side. He was so scared he was almost crying, and his legs were weak: "Brother Xuan, what should we do?"

Jiang Lixuan made a quick decision: "Run forward!"

A zombie who walks like a rehabilitated old man is much easier to deal with than that blood-stained female ghost!

"I'm sorry, old man!" Jiang Lixuan took the lead and kicked Old Master Zheng hard in the chest.

Old Master Zheng's stiff body suddenly collapsed, tumbling down the stairs.

"Let's go!" He led Zheng Feiyu and ran down the slope quickly.

As he passed by Grandpa Zheng, he tried to reach out and grab Zheng Feiyu's ankle, but Jiang Lixuan reacted quickly and kicked him away.

However, the next second, Jiang Lixuan's vision blurred, and a red ghostly figure appeared in front of him, looking at him with sinister and extremely venomous eyes: "Where do you think you're going?"

Zheng Feiyu: "!!!"

Jiang Lixuan: "!!!"

This inhuman speed made Jiang Lixuan's worldview crumble slightly. He couldn't help but step back, asking in a trembling voice, "Zheng Feiyu, where did you get this female ghost from?!"

Zheng Feiyu, leaning on the railing, said in a shaky voice, "I don't know either! I don't even know her!"

Zheng Feiyu was on the verge of tears: "Miss, if you want revenge, go find your enemy! I have no grudge against you. If you kill me, you will also commit a sin, won't you?"

"All of you in the Zheng family are my enemies." The blood-clad female ghost chuckled, her mouth splitting open to behind her ears, thick, foul-smelling blood dripping from her lips. "My greatest enemy has already been sent away. Now, only you remain."

As soon as she finished speaking, the blood-clad female ghost's fingernails suddenly grew longer, and she lunged at Zheng Feiyu with a ferocious expression.

Zheng Feiyu subconsciously took out a small coffin from his pocket, closed his eyes, and placed it in front of him.

At the same time, a clear voice rang out: "Insolence! Stop hurting people!"

A talisman descended from the sky and landed in front of Zheng Feiyu.

The blood-clad female ghost slammed into a golden shield, her body emitting bursts of black resentment, and she was thrown back: "Ah—!"

A black figure leaped through the gate and stood in front of Zheng Feiyu and Jiang Lixuan.

Zheng Feiyu opened his eyes and looked at the handsome young man who had suddenly barged in. He was wearing an indigo Taoist robe, had his hair tied in a Tai Chi style, and was dressed in a tai chi style. Neither of them saw the small coffin that Zheng Feiyu was holding flash with a golden light.

Jiang Lixuan's gaze fell on the Taoist robe worn by the young man, and his expression brightened: "You're a Taoist priest from the Sanqing Temple?!"

The young man nodded solemnly, his face radiating righteousness: "Yes, you two need not be afraid. I am Zhang Shimian, and my master is the abbot of the Sanqing Temple. I will protect you."

Zhang Shimian watched as the female ghost slowly got up from the ground, looking extremely badly injured. He couldn't help but wonder, when did the talisman he drew become so powerful?

In a single encounter, the vengeful ghost was sent flying.

"Taoist priests... In my life, the people I hate the most are Taoist priests!" The female ghost, who had been flung away, staggered to her feet, her resentment growing even stronger.

The half of his face, corroded by the golden light, was a bloody mess, staring at them with an exceptionally ferocious expression, his voice shrill and piercing: "You and the Zheng family deserve to die just like everyone else!"

Zhang Shimian was so shocked by the surging resentment that his ears went deaf and his face turned pale instantly.

Not to mention Jiang Lixuan, who doesn't even have a magical artifact to protect him.

He looked pained, and blood slowly trickled from his ear.

Zhang Shimian quickly took out a talisman from his pocket and stuffed it into his hand: "Concentrate and hold your breath."

Jiang Lixuan gripped the amulet with trembling hands, and Zheng Feiyu's terrified voice rang out: "Taoist Master, she...she...she's here!!"

Zhang Shimian: "??"

He turned around and saw a female ghost, completely shrouded in resentment and gradually turning into a vengeful spirit, rushing towards him.

"Holy crap!!" Zhang Shimian drew the peach wood sword from his waist and rushed forward in a fluster.

"Smack—!"

The blessed peach wood sword couldn't last even half a second in the female ghost's hand before it split in two.

Zhang Shimian wailed, "My sword!!"

"Stop with your sword! Run!" Jiang Lixuan had barely recovered when he saw this scene.

Without hesitation, he turned and ran with Zheng Feiyu. Damn it, those Taoist priests from the Sanqing Temple are completely unreliable!

Zhang Shimian pulled a stack of talismans from his satchel and threw them at the female ghost, chanting a ghost-slaying incantation: "Laozi, teach me to slay ghosts, give me divine methods... First slay the evil ghost, then cut down the night-shining one. What god does not submit, what ghost dares to stand against me? So be it! Kill!"

The talisman sprinkled on the female ghost had no effect whatsoever; instead, it aroused her ferocity. The surrounding environment instantly darkened, a cold wind rose, and a chill ran through the bones.

A layer of white frost covered Jiang Lixuan and Zheng Feiyu's eyebrows and hair.

The female ghost screamed, her face contorted in a grotesque grimace: "You all deserve to die—!"

Zhang Shimian: "???"

Damn it, why are the talismans not working again at this crucial moment!

The female ghost forcefully broke through Zhang Shimian's defenses and came directly in front of Zheng Feiyu, her sharp black and red fingernails stabbing fiercely towards his heart.

Zheng Feiyu's face turned pale: "It's over!"

At the critical moment, a loud bang suddenly came from the door shrouded in red and black resentment. A sudden gust of wind swept through, blinding everyone. All they could hear was the shrill scream of the blood-clad female ghost.

"Go on the grass, bite her!"

The childish voice reached their ears, and the three of them struggled to open their eyes. They saw the short figure standing in front of the blood-clad female ghost, her clothes fluttering in the wind.

Jiang Lixuan's pupils shrank suddenly as he stared at the small figure in disbelief.

South Pole?!

Why is she here?!
