Chapter 269 Report

Chapter 269 Report

When she was little, Wen Wan's favorite thing was to go ice skating in Shichahai with her older brothers and sisters, along with Xu Qingming. This was what she looked forward to most during the coldest days of winter.

However, now that she was here, the time was not right, she couldn't skate, and she didn't feel like it. She was no longer a child, and her childhood was all in the past.

"Seventh Brother, when will you report to school?"

Xu Qingming put his hands in his pockets, his polished leather shoes recklessly grinding against the dead leaves on the road. He was a man in his twenties, yet he was acting so childishly that it was unbearable to watch. Wen Wan glanced at him and felt that he had let loose since returning. He was a completely different person from when he was in Lujiazui. All his calm and reserved self-possession back then had gone to waste.

Wen Wan asked him a question, but he didn't answer. Instead, he looked at Wen Wan with a strange look in his eyes.

Wen Wan frowned: "What's that look in your eyes?"

"Look at the fool's eyes."

Wen Wan: - I really want to pick up a stone and smash him to death, but unfortunately there is none around.

Xu Qingming said quietly, "Wen Wan, is there nothing else in your mind now except Lu Dongping and Dandan? For example, what does my father do, and where do I live?"

Wen Wan then realized that she had just asked a nonsense question. Her third uncle Xu Guoliang was a professor at Hua University, and Xu Qingming's home was in the Hua University staff family compound. It was only because the old lady lived in the military compound that he came here.

So, they live in Huazhong University of Science and Technology and can go there anytime.

Only Lu Chun'e was still confused.

Wen Wan explained to her in a low voice: "My uncle is a professor at Hua University, and my aunt is also engaged in education. Their family lives in the school's staff family compound."

Just as he finished speaking, Xu Qingming's voice came over: "My parents asked me to ask you, will you live with us when the time comes?"

Wen Wan shook her head decisively: "I plan to live on campus."

"Well, at first I was planning to clean up the yard over there and live there, but after some thought, I decided living on campus would be better. You know, when I was little, I was always studying this and that, rarely going out to play, and besides you guys, I didn't have many friends. Now that I'm back, everyone my age has started their own families and lives. Since I'm going to school, it's like starting over. I want to have a circle that truly belongs to me."

Xu Qingming nodded: "Okay, living on campus has its advantages. There are still a few days left, and we can prepare everything we need. Chun'e, too. If you need anything, just tell me and I'll find a way for you."

There are still a few days left before school starts, so there is no need to rush.

Wen Wan wanted to go to Babaoshan to pay homage to her grandfather while it was getting a little warmer.

She told Xu Qingming what she meant, and Xu Qingming agreed without hesitation.

He had been there once on the fourth day of the New Year and knew where it was. It would be just right for him to bring Wen Wan with him, so there was no need to bother and disturb others.

After paying respects to Mr. Xu, Wenwan picked a sunny day to take Lu Chun'e out. School was about to start, and they still needed a lot of things. After all, it was so far away when they came here, so it was not convenient to bring too much. Apart from clothes and bedding, they planned to make do with whatever they could, but if not, they would find a way to buy more.

Lu Chun'e had worked in a textile factory for two years and had some savings, which was more than enough for daily necessities.

As spring begins, it gets warmer day by day. At least when the sun comes out, you can feel a hint of warmth.

The two people came back from outside with their hands full, but they were hot from walking and the scarves felt a bit cumbersome.

Wen Wan put the things in her hand on the ground, pulled her scarf, and took a deep breath. "I should have known that I shouldn't have been polite to my father this morning and asked Zhang Qianfeng to drive over to pick us up."

Lu Chun'e looked at the enamel basin and kettle in her hands and said, "Sister-in-law, will you wait here for a while? I'll go back first and pick you up later."

Wen Wan slowed down and said, "No need for that. It's not far. The stuff is just this small and not heavy. I just overestimated my ability to walk."

I felt that getting off the bus would be close to the compound, so I didn't take a rickshaw. I planned to take Lu Chun'e for a walk to familiarize herself with the area, but no matter how hard I tried, we couldn't get there. I had never walked this section before, so I thought the bus would be there in a flash.

At the end of the avenue is the playground inside the compound. Some people are playing ball, and some children are rolling hoops inside. It is quite lively.

She started walking again with her things in hand. Before she had gone far, she heard the sound of a car horn behind her. Wen Wan gently pulled Lu Chun'e and they both moved to the side of the road. Although the main road was very wide and it was unnecessary to give way, she still did it subconsciously.

But she didn't expect that the car actually stopped beside her. The window slowly rolled down, revealing a handsome face with sharp edges. The owner of this face was looking at her with a smile: "Little girl, where are you from?"

Wen Wan looked at the person in the car and opened her mouth: "You are that, that——" She couldn't remember the name for a long time. She knew who it was, but she just couldn't remember the name.

Zhou Mingli looked at her with amusement: "What? Don't you recognize me?"

Wen Wan scoffed lightly: "How could that be? You are not that person."

"Who then?"

Wen Wan patted her forehead: "Zhou Mingli!"

Zhou Mingli chuckled. "It's not easy. It's amazing that Miss Wen still remembered me. Where did she go? Can I give you a ride?"

Wen Wan refused with great dignity: "Thank you, it's not far, we'll be there soon."

Zhou Mingli didn't insist, but smiled and said, "Okay! Now that you're back, come over to my house and play with Xu Qi!"

Wen Wan waved at him and watched the car drive away.

Then he introduced him to Lu Chun'e as they walked, "He was a childhood friend. His surname was Zhou, and his name was Zhou Mingli. He was related to my aunt, and we lived in the same compound. He was two years older than me, and he had a good relationship with my seventh brother and the others. We went to the same school, and he was a grade higher than me. He joined the army after high school, and I haven't seen him since. I couldn't remember his name for a long time just now. My memory is really not that good anymore."

The car had long disappeared, but Lu Chun'e still looked towards the end of the road.

After the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, schools start to open one after another.

Wen Shihua prepared in advance to send them both to school. After having breakfast at home, Wen Wan went upstairs to bring down the luggage.

Wen Shihua sighed, "You really have to live on campus! It's okay if you don't live on campus. They said they wanted a driver, but I thought I was the only one at home, and Xiao Zhang always accompanies me, so I didn't let them. You can live at home, and we'll hire a driver to pick you and Chun'e up."

Wen Wan waved her hands hurriedly: "No need, no need. Dad, if you feel you need it, just hire a driver. If not, find an aunt to help clean the house and cook. Don't worry about me. It's more convenient for me to live on campus, and I can meet more people. I will come back on Sundays and be with Chun'e."

She made up her mind. Although Wen Shihua wanted her to live at home, he didn't say anything more. He just helped to carry the things into the car, and then Zhang Qianfeng drove the four of them to the Medical University.

Wen Wan accompanied Lu Chun'e to register, and then sent her to the dormitory to settle her in. It took half a day, and it was after noon when she reported to Hua University.

Although there has been no college entrance examination for ten years, this prestigious institution of learning with a long history has not become quiet. Instead, it has become even more lively.

Xu Qingming entered the Law School of Hua University, while Wen Wan entered the School of Economics and Management. This had nothing to do with what they had previously loved and enjoyed, but being admitted to this university was something many could only dream of, so it was something they should always cherish.

Xu Qingming calculated the time and waited at the school gate. He had walked around the school twice in the past few days and had almost visited all the places he could go. There was no need to ask for directions anymore. He took Wen Wan for a run to complete the formalities, and then the car could drive directly into the school and take her to the dormitory building.

The dormitory of the School of Economics and Management was newly built together with the school staff dormitory a few years ago. The environment is quiet and the dormitory is quite spacious, with a total of eight beds, including upper and lower bunks. At present, not all people have moved in.

Wen Wan was the first to go in. There were only two people sitting on the lower bunk in the dormitory.

Wen Wan greeted them with a polite smile: "Hello! I'm Wen Wan!"

The female classmate sitting on the bed by the window looked young and frail. She was packing her things. She looked up at her and smiled faintly, "Hello, my name is Li Laiyu."

The round-faced female classmate next to her smiled cheerfully, "Hello, my name is Hu Shuangshuang!"

After exchanging names, they were considered acquaintances. Wen Wan then began to look for her own bed.

The bed position is not freely chosen. There is a name on each bed, and Wenwan's position is the bed near the door.

Wen Shihua was quite dissatisfied with this position: "It's so high, what if I fall down while sleeping?"

Wen Wan didn't know whether to laugh or cry: "No, isn't there a guardrail on the side? Besides, I'm already such a grown-up."

As he said this, he temporarily placed the basin in his hand under the bed, then climbed up quickly, took the bedding roll from Xu Qingming's hand and made the bed first.

After tidying up, the round-faced girl named Hu Shuangshuang pointed to the window and said, "There's a cabinet over there. You can put some personal belongings there, but you have to buy a lock yourself."

Wen Wan responded: "Thank you! I'll put it aside for now and buy it back when I go out."

She didn't bring much with her, just two sets of inner clothes, a sweater, trousers and a jacket for changing. She planned to go back to the compound when she had time.

After cleaning up the dormitory, Wen Shihua had to leave. Delaying for half a day was already the limit.

Wen Wan sent him to the school gate and watched him leave. Then she turned and looked at the broad avenue inside the school and the trees on both sides and sighed, "I think I should get a bicycle and learn to ride it. Walking every day on my own two legs is really exhausting."

Xu Qingming said, "If you want to be more ambitious, instead of thinking about learning to ride a bicycle by wrestling, why not think about learning to drive a car and then get one?"

Wen Wan looked at him in disbelief, wondering if he had a problem with his brain. He had money and tickets to buy a bicycle, and he also had a car. How could he dare to think of such a thing?

Xu Qingming actually just said it casually, and called her, "Let's go, I'll take you for a walk, and then to my house. My mother has repeatedly told me to invite you over for dinner."
