"Buying things?" Jiang Lin frowned. "That's not a good place. You'll be in trouble if you get caught."
Su Yuhe smiled flatteringly: "I know, I'll leave after buying it."
Jiang Lin laughed coldly: "You know nothing!"
He thought for a moment and asked, "Did I buy too much and use up all my food coupons?"
Su Yuhe has been spending money on meat or flour every other day. It would be strange if she didn't spend all her money and food coupons!
"No, I still have plenty of money." Su Yuhe retorted.
Jiang Lin frowned and looked at Su Yuhe. It seemed that he had no idea how serious it was to go to the free market.
But he couldn't say anything harsh.
I don't know where to vent my breath.
Jiang Lin sighed and gave in. He pulled Su Yuhe to sit next to him and went to wash the dishes silently.
He didn't say anything, which made Su Yuhe even more panicked.
Su Yuhe was so nervous that she couldn't even sit still. She stood up and walked over, hugging Jiang Lin's waist from behind: "Don't be silent. It's so scary."
Jiang Lin snorted and laughed: "What else can scare you?"
"You, if you don't say anything, I'll be so anxious!"
Jiang Lin washed the dishes in a few strokes, shook the water off his hands, stared at Su Yuhe, and sighed: "Don't go to the free market anymore. If you run out of food coupons, tell me, or let me buy some."
The more Jiang Lin thought about it, the more he felt that the latter idea was feasible.
Let him buy it, and Su Yuhe won’t have to work hard.
And Su Yuhe can come over for dinner often.
"No need..." Su Yuhe said this in confusion. She clearly wanted to support Jiang Lin, so how come it seemed like Jiang Lin was the one supporting her?
She shook her head and said no.
She agreed not to go, but next time if there was a need, Su Yuhe felt that she would still go to the free market.
After leaving the Jiang family, Su Yuhe did not return to the educated youth site, but went straight to the mountains.
She didn't forget to find medicinal herbs for the old man. She had to go to work tomorrow, so she went today since she was free.
When she was at the Jiang family, she had thought about telling Jiang Lin about the search for medicinal herbs, but such matters were still kept secret nowadays and were not something to be publicized.
Su Yuhe didn't say anything. The fewer people who knew, the fewer surprises there would be.
After walking for more than twenty minutes, Su Yuhe entered the mountain.
If nothing unexpected happens, the herbs the old man wants can be found in this mountain. Su Yuhe remembers that he has seen some here.
Su Yuhe followed the memory of the medicinal herbs in her mind and searched for a long time before she found almost all of them.
However, there were one or two types where she found several that were identical, but upon closer inspection, there were slight differences.
Su Yuhe thought for a while and decided to pick them all and give them to the old man when the time came.
Su Yuhe didn't bring anything with her, just a pile of herbs, which she tied up with straw. She found that there were already fire clouds rising in the sky.
It will be dark soon.
It was very quiet all around, with only the wind blowing through the treetops and the calls of some birds and animals.
Su Yuhe suddenly realized that she had unknowingly run deep into the forest. She picked up the medicine and turned around to run back the way she came.
Fortunately, there are few people coming to this mountain, and the ground is overgrown with weeds. Wherever Su Yuhe walked, the grass was all standing up. She followed the traces and quickly ran out of the forest.
The fiery clouds in the sky have become much thicker, but fortunately it is not dark yet.
But perhaps she was scaring herself. Su Yuhe always remembered some of the words adults used to scare children, and she ran away.
Jiang Lin's house is at the foot of the mountain next to the village. Su Yuhe would pass by and stop at Jiang's house, intending to leave the herbs she picked there.
Jiang Lin was chopping wood in the yard. He thought that Su Yuhe had come at noon and would not come again in the evening. While he was chopping wood, he saw Su Yuhe running in panting.
Jiang Lin immediately dropped his axe, stood up and walked towards Su Yuhe: "Why are you running so fast?"
"It's so scary. The more I think about it, the more I feel like a ghost is chasing me." Su Yuhe let out a long sigh, put the herbs directly on the ground, and took out a handkerchief to wipe the sweat off his face.
Jiang Lin fetched a bucket of well water, patted Su Yuhe's back to help her calm down, and asked her to drink a few sips of water to calm down.
Two sips was enough. Jiang Lin didn't let her drink more: "Just moisten your throat. Go inside and drink some water."
"Where have you been? You've got all this grass."
"This isn't grass. Oh, I can't explain it to you."
Jiang Lin stared at the bundle of grass and narrowed his eyes. "These grasses are not found in ordinary fields. They look like they are from Weimeng Mountain. Have you been to Weimeng Mountain?"
The voice was raised several degrees when he spoke the following words.
Su Yuhe was stunned for a moment: "What is Weimeng Mountain? I don't know."
Seeing that she really didn't know, Jiang Lin gestured to the location of Weimeng Mountain, which was just behind the fifth-level mountain where he was working.
Su Yuhe didn't know the danger yet, so she nodded and said yes.
Jiang Lin nearly bit his back teeth to pieces. "That's a wild mountain! No one has been there for hundreds of years. There are wild boars and tigers! And all kinds of snakes, birds, and beasts! Any one of them can kill you! Why go there if there's nothing to do?"
He looked fierce, but Su Yuhe was not afraid.
Just thinking about the fear she felt when she went down the mountain, coupled with what Jiang Lin said, made Su Yuhe feel scared.
Seeing her face turn pale, Jiang Lin continued, "People who ran into that mountain before never came back. Do you know what happened to them?"
Seeing Su Yuhe swallowing her saliva, Jiang Lin said solemnly: "They are all dead, and their bones cannot be found. You just felt that there were ghosts chasing you, maybe it was real, their souls..."
"Ah!" Su Yuhe screamed and threw herself into Jiang Lin's arms.
The wild mountains are really wild mountains, but there is no lack of Jiang Lin's deliberate exaggeration.
Jiang Lin couldn't help laughing, rubbing the head in his arms: "Okay, okay, I just scared you. That mountain is not that mysterious. It's just that few people have been up there in recent years. But there are real wild boars there. You really are not allowed to go in alone next time. There really are tigers in the deep mountains!"
"You are so bad!" Su Yuhe hit him, glared at him angrily, and turned to leave.
Jiang Lin pulled him back: "Where are you going?"
"Go tell Auntie Yun! You scared me!"
"I was wrong." Jiang Lin admitted his mistake without hesitation and said a few soft words. After Su Yuhe calmed down, he asked, "Tell me, what are you doing with this pile of grass?"
When looking for medicinal herbs, Su Yuhe didn't plan to tell Jiang Lin. Now that everything was placed here, Su Yuhe told him everything about the old man.
Jiang Lin's expression grew more serious as he listened. "You were right to bring the things here. It would be bad if you took them back to the educated youth camp and someone with ulterior motives saw them. Why didn't you tell me earlier? I would have gone with you to look for them."
"Ah?" Su Yuhe stared at Jiang Lin blankly, "You don't blame me?"
"Are you afraid I won't let you go?" Jiang Lin said helplessly, "This is a matter of saving lives, but as I said, your own safety should always come first. When are you planning to go? I'll go with you."
"I'll go after work tomorrow. Forget it, I'd better take the afternoon off."
As for medicine, it’s for saving lives, so of course the sooner the better.
