early morning.
Ji Qingran slept a little late yesterday and was not woken up by the alarm clock until 11 o'clock in the morning. She stretched out her white arms from under the quilt and turned off the alarm clock accurately and quickly.
The room instantly became quiet. Her double-layered curtains were drawn tightly, blocking out any light, making it perfect for another nap.
She thought carefully about what she was going to do today. It seemed that there was probably nothing important, otherwise why couldn't she remember it.
She simply lay down with her head down.
The next moment, the cell phone on her bedside table rang cheerfully.
Who is it? So annoying, disturbing my sleep.
She grabbed the phone and forced one eye open to look at the screen, but the next second, her eyes suddenly widened and the sleepiness disappeared immediately. It was her grandfather calling.
She deliberately cleared her throat before answering the phone, "Good morning, Grandpa."
When Mr. Ji heard her words, he asked her with some doubt, "What do you mean by good morning? You didn't just get up, did you?" It was already late and it was still morning.
Ji Qingran denied it outright, "How is that possible? I got up a long time ago and had breakfast after my morning run. I was just about to go back to see you."
Mr. Ji felt relieved when he heard this. Young people should go to bed early and get up early. Spending all day in bed is a waste of time. A day's plan begins in the morning.
But when he heard her say she was coming to see him, he couldn't suppress the smile on his face, and two more wrinkles appeared on his face. But he still said insincerely, "You still remember me, your grandfather. You don't even come back to see me after you're done with your work."
Ji Qingran of course heard his grandfather's arrogant tone, she was not angry at all, she just missed her. She had originally planned to visit him, but something unexpected happened when she went to buy gifts yesterday, which led to a change in the itinerary. She coaxed him softly.
"Grandpa, I've missed you so much. I'm already on my way to see you. I'll be there soon. Ask Auntie to make me something delicious. I'll be there soon."
As she said this, she quickly lifted the quilt and stood up with a somersault.
"Stinky girl." Old Master Ji cursed with a smile as he looked at the hung up phone, then hurriedly asked the kitchen to prepare more dishes. Prepare more of her favorites.
…
Two hours after Ji Qingyan left, Ruan Ruan on the bed opened her eyes. She sat up in a daze, and it took her a while to realize that they had moved to a new home.
She walked out of the room and came to the living room and found a covered plate on the table in the dining room next to her. She opened it and found it was the breakfast that Ji Qingyan had left for her.
She was slightly stunned. She didn't expect that he actually left food for her. For a moment, she felt complicated and couldn't express it in words. But she was vaguely happy, but it seemed that she was more than just happy.
She trotted to the room to get her cell phone and called him just like she did yesterday.
Ji Qingyan had just returned to the office after meeting with the head of the cooperation when he received her call. He swiped to answer the call, "Are you awake?"
His deep, magnetic voice rang in Ruan Ruan's ears. She felt a bit enjoyable and shy at the same time. She wanted to move away, but when she realized it was a phone call and he wasn't there, she leaned closer to his ear again. "Yeah, I'm awake now. I saw you left food for me. You're so nice."
Ji Qingyan snorted coldly when he heard her words, "What are you doing at night? You don't even get up in the morning. Are you staying up late playing with your phone?"
"No!" Ruan Ruan no longer cared about his voice. She only heard the threat. He thought he wouldn't confiscate it, so she quickly changed the subject, "Have you eaten?"
"Well, I've eaten. Have you seen the cabinet under the TV in the living room?" Ji Qingyan said to her.
"Yeah, I see."
Ruan Ruan walked to the living room and looked at the cabinet and responded to him.
"There are snacks in there. If you are hungry or want to eat something, just eat it. Also, if you go out, don't walk too far. If you can't find the way, call me. There is a card on the table in your room. If you go out and want to buy something, just give this card to the store. There is no password." Ji Qingyan thought of something and said to her. The more he spoke, the more worried he felt.
He inexplicably felt like an old father giving advice to his daughter.
Ruan Ruan nodded to indicate that she understood, then realized that he couldn't see her nod, and said again, "I know."
After hanging up the phone, Ruan Ruan ate some of the food on the table. It was a little cold, but she still finished most of it. Then she washed the dishes very consciously after finishing eating.
Thinking of the snacks he mentioned, she opened the cabinet. Wow! The cabinet was full of food. She didn't know when he prepared it, but she had just finished her meal.
Or save some for dinner?
She had planned to go out today yesterday, and she didn't delay. After changing her clothes, everything was ready, but she was a little nervous when she went out.
This was her first time going out. In the past, Ji Qingyan always took her out, but she couldn't always rely on him. She had to be on her own, and open the door, go out, and close the door in one go.
When she came to her senses, she was already standing outside the door. Since she had already come out, she couldn't go back. She walked directly to the elevator, just like Ji Qingyan did yesterday.
Soon she left the community.
She didn't know how long she walked before she arrived at a busy street. She was under the direct sunlight. Although she didn't feel too hot, she still felt uncomfortable.
There happened to be a large parasol similar to a shed in front of them, with seven or eight people sitting underneath. Ruan Ruan walked over.
She decided to wait there and take a look. When she really came out, she was confused and had no idea what to do. Looking at others busying around, she suddenly realized that she had no destination.
As soon as she arrived, she attracted their attention, both boys and girls, but they all looked at her with kindness, simply attracted by her delicate, doll-like appearance, fair skin, and big watery eyes. Maybe the sun made her cheeks slightly red, so cute, they were touched by her.
He poked his companion to look at her.
A brave girl came forward and said, "Miss, are you here for a part-time job as well? We are both students at the nearby University A, are you one too?"
Ruan Ruan didn't know how to answer, so she thought for a moment and said, "I'll provide shade..."
"Gather, gather, start assigning work." A person in charge came out from not far away and shouted at them, interrupting Ruan Ruan's words.
These people all walked towards him, and Ruan Ruan stood there in a daze without moving.
The girl who had just spoken to her took two steps and looked back to see that she was still there. She turned back and called out to her, "Come on, follow the young lady."
Ruan Ruan followed him in a daze.
The person in charge spoke only after seeing them all arrive, "You're paid hourly. Currently, there are jobs like handing out flyers and serving in-store. The pay is lower for in-store work, 20 an hour, while handing out flyers is higher, 30 an hour."
After the person in charge finished speaking, some of them began to whisper. The girl approached Ruan Ruan and asked, "Miss, what do you want to do? Will it be too hot to hand out flyers? But I also want to make money. I'm so conflicted."
Ruan Ruan heard that handing out flyers paid well, and thought this was a perfect way to earn money, so she decisively said, "I'll hand out flyers."
