"How could that be? You must be mistaken. I meant the bedside table."
Both sides stuck to their own versions of events, neither willing to back down. However, only the two of them were present during the handover, so neither could prove that what they said was true.
"Enough!" Mu Nanxun interrupted the two arguing and looked at Yi Yi. "What's with these scissors? Don't you know that such dangerous things are not allowed in the young lady's room?"
“I know,” Yi Yi replied, “but I don’t know who put these scissors on the dressing table.”
"So you mean I put it there? Li Ma can testify that the scissors weren't on the dressing table during the day."
Immediately, all eyes fell on Li Ma.
Li Ma leaned forward and bowed her head. "Young Master, I did go into Miss's room a few times during the day, but... I didn't see these scissors."
"So this..."
“But I haven’t been back in since dinner. The two of them handed over their work after dinner, so I don’t know when the scissors were put on the dressing table,” Li Ma added.
Mu Nanxun's gaze swept back and forth between Yi Yi and Liang Xiaoru, scrutinizing them to determine who was lying.
Yi Yi? She shouldn't be that stupid.
“Brother Xun,” Xia Bingqing, who had been silent until now, spoke up, “Actually, this matter isn’t that complicated. Whoever is on duty and something happens should naturally be held responsible. Even the slightest mistake by those taking care of Sister Wenya is unacceptable, let alone such a serious incident on their first day of work. It should be dealt with seriously.”
Everyone held their breath, watching Mu Nanxun, awaiting his final verdict.
Although Aunt Li wanted to say a few words in Yi Yi's defense, she knew that matters concerning the young lady were of utmost importance. Speaking up for Yi Yi would only anger the young master further, and perhaps make the situation worse!
The room was extremely quiet, so quiet that you could almost hear everyone breathing.
Mu Nanxun's deep eyes lingered on Yi Yi's face for a long time before he spoke again. "Do you have anything else to say?"
Yi sighed. She didn't expect this usually arrogant man to be able to see things clearly. Besides, he disliked her so much and didn't want her to stay in the first place, so wasn't this a perfect opportunity?
"That's all. I've said everything I needed to say. Believe it or not." Yi threw the scissors back onto the dressing table.
Although she had only been with humans for a short time, Yi Yi was not stupid; she knew that everything that happened tonight was not accidental.
The photo that was supposed to be on the dressing table ended up in the bedside table, and there was also a pair of scissors inexplicably on the dressing table. Rather than a coincidence, this seems more like a carefully planned event.
Her previous encounter with Sister Lin had already given her a vivid lesson: never listen to what people say or do on the surface, but learn to understand their inner thoughts. Unfortunately, she wasn't experienced enough to fathom human intentions.
Mu Nanxun suddenly summoned Uncle Zhang and ordered, "Kick her out of the Mu family."
Upon hearing this, Yi Yi looked at him incredulously. She had expected him to at least investigate the truth of the matter. Was he really going to just believe their one-sided account?
More painful than the sadness of being suddenly driven away was the feeling of being distrusted. She had never felt so isolated and lost, distrusted, blamed, and abandoned by everyone.
