Chapter 635 Can't I even cry a little when I'm about to die?

With such a humble and submissive attitude, Mu Wenya really had no intention of refusing.

"Alright then, you stay and take care of him. I'll have someone guard outside the door; just tell them if you need anything."

"Don't worry, Sister Wenya, I'll take good care of Brother Xun." Xia Bingqing smiled through her tears, watched Mu Wenya and Ouyang leave, and then closed the door.

After walking a distance, Ouyang turned back and looked at Mu Wenya, saying, "Boss, I think this Xia Bingqing is not simple. We need to pay more attention to her."

"What's so simple about her? She's just a pitiful girl," Mu Wenya said dismissively.

"Sigh..." Ouyang sighed, "No wonder my boss is so kind-hearted," he sees everyone as a pitiful person.

"Go away, stop teasing me."

...

Yi Yi was awakened by the noise outside the door. When she opened her eyes, the man brought food and came in from outside.

Am I going to die?

Yi Yi frowned as she stared at the steaming three dishes and one soup the man had brought.

That's how it's portrayed on TV; whenever a prisoner is about to be executed, they always get a good meal before they die.

The man was taken aback, but seeing the conflicted expression on Yi's face, he knew what she was worried about.

"I don't have that rule here."

There's no such rule...

Does this mean... this isn't a farewell meal?

Since that's the case, what are we waiting for?

Yi picked up her chopsticks and began to eat heartily, disregarding her image. When a grain of rice accidentally got on her cheek, she didn't let it go, grabbing it with her hand and putting it in her mouth.

These past few days she'd eaten too many cold, hard steamed buns and sour bread, so now that she suddenly had a fresh, hot meal, she was eager to eat more. Who knew if she'd have another meal after this one!

The man was probably a little startled by the way she wolfed down her food; he turned his face slightly away, a strange look flashing across his face.

"I said, you..."

Could you eat a little more gently?

The man started to say something, but seeing how much Yi Yi was enjoying her food, he couldn't bear to continue.

When Yi heard that he had only said half of what he wanted to say, she curiously looked up, with half of the rice still in her mouth that she hadn't chewed properly.

Suddenly, Yi Yi's pupils widened sharply, and almost instinctively, she pulled the man forcefully towards her.

Caught off guard, the man was pulled forward by her and ended up falling on top of Yi Yi.

The sudden, sweet, soft scent startled the man, causing him to freeze in place.

A moment later, the man sat up in shock, about to erupt in fury, when he suddenly noticed the strange look on Yi Yi's face. He turned around, his gaze falling on Yi Yi's right hand, where a small snake was biting her wrist.

The man swiftly grabbed the snake, then pulled out a dagger, chopped off its head, and threw it out the window.

"Great, we can have an extra meal at noon now."

Yi Yi's face turned pale; she was quite frightened. "You...you want to eat it?"

The man glanced at her dismissively. "In this place, there's nothing you can't eat."

"..."

Yi Yi had lost her appetite. Her nose stung, and tears welled up in her eyes.

Why are you crying?

I thought this woman was different from others, that she was strong. I never imagined she'd be such a crybaby.

With tears still streaming down her face, Yi glanced at the man and said, "Can't I even cry when I'm about to die? How can you have no compassion at all! Is your heart made of stone?!"

"Who said you were going to die?" This woman was easily startled; she was just like any other woman.
