Some were very nervous, their foreheads and palms were constantly sweating, and they kept rubbing their hands together anxiously. They were even more nervous than when they took exams in school. Others were particularly anxious, constantly looking around to see how much longer it would be before their turn, while holding cheat sheets in their hands and muttering to themselves. Still others appeared calm and composed on the surface, but their frequent deep breaths revealed their inner turmoil.
The girl who just called her a "vixen" seemed very confident, always holding her chin high, as if the position was already hers.
Humans are really interesting; you can never really know what they're thinking just by looking at the surface.
After waiting in line for what felt like forever, it was finally Yi Yi's turn. She was in a group with Liang Xiaoru, and there were three other girls named A, B, and C.
"Hello, let me introduce myself first. I'm the housekeeper, and I've been working here for over 30 years. Everyone calls me Uncle Zhang. You can call me that too."
Butler Uncle Zhang spoke in the same monotonous way: "We haven't found a single truly suitable candidate yet. They're either not good enough in this aspect or not attentive enough in that aspect; in short, none of them are satisfactory!"
"Today, I've been entrusted by our young master to select a caregiver for him. These people around me are today's simulated patients, exactly five in total, one for each of you. I'll assess your care of the 'patients' and prioritize those selected. The chosen person will be handed over to the young master for the final decision, understand?"
"Understood!" Liang Xiaoru answered the loudest, and Uncle Zhang couldn't help but glance at her again.
"Okay, I understand. Let's begin the first round. First, choose a 'patient' and wash the 'patient's' face, wipe their hands, and turn them over."
As soon as she finished speaking, Liang Xiaoru took the lead and stood in front of a young female 'patient's' bed. The others also chose their favorite 'patients'.
After the selections were made, only one 'patient' remained, who was a bit dirty and smelly, with drool dripping from the corner of his mouth. They had all deliberately avoided this 'patient' when making their selections; A had even covered her nose and walked past him.
"I'm sorry, you're eliminated," the butler said expressionlessly, pointing at A. A was then led away from the recruitment site.
Yi Yi didn't show any disgust, after all, she had taken care of puppies before. Those puppies were much dirtier and smellier than this 'patient'. Perhaps because of her composure, the housekeeper secretly gave her an approving look.
They started washing the 'patient's' face.
Unlike the others, Yi Yi first carefully wiped the drool from the 'patient's' face with a clean tissue. Then she tidied her messy hair, tucking it behind her ears. She adjusted her position to make her more comfortable before finally washing her face.
Beside the bed was a basin and a towel that had just been used. Yi emptied the water from the basin, carefully cleaned it, then wet the towel, wrung it out, and gently wiped the 'patient's' face. After wiping the face, she didn't forget to carefully wipe the 'patient's' hands, neck, and body as well. Not feeling that was enough, she filled the basin with water again and washed the 'patient' once more, even carefully trimming the 'patient's' fingernails, showing more meticulous care than she had when caring for her puppy.
