"You jinx! Get out!"
"Get out of the village right now!"
Yongyang Mountain, Jingzhao County, Lingxing Village.
The village is separated from the mountain by a dense forest overgrown with weeds. A sudden commotion startled the birds roosting in the forest, and curses filled the air. Amidst the rustling of the grass, a tiny, cuddly baby, clutching its head, came panting and ran out of the forest.
It was a little girl named Li Xinyan, who was three and a half years old. A large bump had swollen on her smooth forehead, which had just been hit by a stone and was burning with pain.
She was wearing a pure white mourning dress that didn't fit her well, binding her small arms and legs. There were still tear stains on her face, as if she had just cried, and her eyes were as red as a little rabbit's.
Because she was running so fast, she lost her shoes, and her bare little feet were scratched and bleeding from the thorns in the woods.
Her mother had just passed away in a car accident. The violent impact left her mother unrecognizable, and she became an orphan. It was only after her great-uncle gave the villagers an order that they reluctantly helped to bury her mother.
But as soon as her mother was buried in the ground and turned into a mound of earth, she was driven away by the villagers.
Tears started streaming down her face again. Xiao Xinyan wiped them away with her dirty little hands, her little mouth pouting, looking pitiful and aggrieved.
She didn't know what she had done wrong. Why did everyone in the village want to drive her away?
She hastily wiped away her tears, her face instantly turning into a mess of tears. She continued running forward desperately, trying to reach Grandpa Jiu for help.
Mother said: If you encounter any difficulties, go to Grandpa Jiu. He is the most senior in the village, and his words carry weight!
Xiao Xinyan thought: Maybe Grandpa Jiu can let her stay in the village.
At this moment, a large number of villagers had gathered at Grandpa Jiu's house, all talking at once about the same thing—
Li Xinyan must be driven out of the village!
"Ninth Master, even if you speak up, this girl can no longer stay in our village!"
"This girl is too lucky! Her father died in an accident on his way to buy her milk powder when she was two months old. Her grandparents fell ill the following year and passed away not long after. Now her mother has been in such a serious car accident, and it was her birthday. It's just too eerie!"
"Ninth Master, don't forget, this girl was born at midnight on the fifteenth of the seventh month. She's definitely cursed by fate and is very unlucky! She's already ruined all her relatives, and she might be the one to bring misfortune to us next!"
“The villagers don’t like to talk to her, so she often says scary things to attract everyone’s attention. A few days ago, she was even talking nonsense to someone, saying that someone was damaging our village’s reservoir. The village chief even went to check it out, but there was no one by the reservoir at all, not even a ghost!”
"Moreover, this girl is very strange. I often see her talking to herself in a daze, as if she can see something."
"Yes, yes, last time on the tenth anniversary of Li Laosan's mother's death, this girl said she saw an old woman floating above Li Laosan's head. She even described in detail the old woman's clothes and appearance, which were exactly the same as the burial clothes Li Laosan's mother wore when she was buried. It scared Li Laosan so much that he fell seriously ill and still has nightmares about it."
Upon hearing this, Li Laosan's face changed drastically, turning ashen as if he had seen a ghost.
Everyone else felt a chill run down their spines; the thought alone was terrifying.
In the eyes of the villagers, Xiao Xinyan was a born jinx!
From the moment she was born, her family suffered one misfortune after another, and relatives and friends stopped associating with her family, fearing that they would be tainted by something bad.
Fearing that they would be implicated, the villagers unanimously decided to drive Xiao Xinyan out of the village.
Grandpa Jiu sat on a chair facing the front door in the main room of his house, holding a pipe in his hand. He lit it but didn't smoke it.
His brow furrowed, caught in a dilemma.
The village children have become orphans. Logically, the villagers should help them and let them grow up on the charity of others. However, the villagers all regard Xiao Xinyan as a jinx, and their hostility towards her has reached its peak. If Xiao Xinyan is forced to stay in the village, the villagers' opinions will only grow stronger, and they might do even worse things to her.
Grandpa Jiu secretly pondered: perhaps it would be better to send Xiao Xinyan to a place where the evil energy on her could be neutralized.
"Grandpa Jiu! Save Yan Yan!"
Just then, a childish voice called out from the main room; Xiao Xinyan had come to ask Grandpa Jiu for help.
As soon as she ran into the yard, the villagers' eyes were drawn to her, and their gazes toward her were very unfriendly.
"How dare she come here! Throw her out!" someone shouted.
The villagers realized what was happening and immediately took action to drive Xiao Xinyan out.
"You little jinx! Didn't I tell you to get out of the village? How dare you come to Ninth Master for help!"
"This girl is young, but she's quite cunning. Keeping her around will definitely cause trouble. We must get rid of her!"
"Get out of here! Get as far away as you can!"
The villagers chased after Xiao Xinyan without any mercy, just like they were chasing away a pitiful little stray dog.
Xiao Xinyan pouted, feeling wronged, and weakly protested, "I'm from this village too, I... I won't leave."
"You have to leave whether you like it or not! From now on, you're no longer a member of our village, and the village doesn't want you anymore!"
"Yes, the village doesn't want you anymore!"
The villagers spoke in unison, their faces contorted with rage, their voices like a raging torrent. Xiao Xinyan trembled with fear, her eyes red as she looked in the direction of her Ninth Grandfather, her last hope.
