Just as everyone was whispering among themselves, a boy of about thirteen or fourteen years old suddenly rushed in front of Xiao Yanbao with a wooden stick that he had somehow acquired.
Before anyone could stop him, the wooden stick danced in the boy's hands, leaving afterimages and accompanied by a whistling sound.
"Smack!"
The wooden stick broke instantly upon contact with a human body.
"what you do?"
The Li family members rushed out of the car, and the security personnel immediately pushed aside all the villagers, forming a solid human wall around Xiao Yanbao.
Li Muxing and his six brothers surrounded the boy, pushing him in the chest and glaring at him angrily.
Xiao Yanbao looked down at the broken wooden stick, remaining silent. The stick had naturally been blocked by the bracelet, but Xiao Yanbao could clearly sense an emotion on the bracelet—some grief, some sadness, but mostly disappointment.
As if disappointed with the village, Xiao Yanbao quietly felt the emotions transmitted through the bracelet, and soon tears fell from the corners of her eyes.
Just then, Xiao Yanbao heard the villagers around him shouting for him to leave. Even those who had never bullied him before started shouting loudly, as if he were a ticking time bomb and everyone wanted to drive him away.
Xiao Yanbao looked up and saw his seven older brothers holding the boy who had hit him, glaring angrily at the villagers. Li Muhan had even taken the magic weapon in her hand, as if she was about to send these villagers to the underworld.
"That's enough! Have you all forgotten the natural disaster last time? It was because you kicked Xiao Xinyan out that it happened. What? Do you want to do it again?"
The one who spoke was an old woman, who looked to be about the same age as Ninth Grandpa. However, Xiao Yanbao's impression of her was limited to the fact that she liked to sit under the tree stump at the entrance of the village waiting for her son to return from plowing the fields. Her family and Xiao Yanbao were like rivers that were clearly separated. They had never bullied Xiao Yanbao and her mother, nor had they ever stood up for them when they were bullied.
However, after Xiao Yanbao was driven out of the village last time, the flash flood swept away the old woman's entire family, leaving the old woman alone in the world.
After hearing the old woman's words, the villagers all looked at each other and stared at each other. A minute or two later, the little boy who had been surrounded by Li Muxing and the others started crying and shouting.
"If it weren't for you, how could our village have experienced a flash flood? You said you saw someone tampering with the dam, but none of us went to check and found anything. The person who tampered with it must be you!"
He seemed to have forgotten that Xiao Yanbao was only a little over three years old. How could he possibly tamper with a concrete dam? Xiao Yanbao couldn't even lift a stone.
But once a person finds an outlet for their grief, they will never give up that outlet unless they have completely released all their grief.
Unfortunately, Xiao Yanbao is precisely the outlet for this kind of person's frustration.
"That's right! Why did you leave that day? Because of you, my grandfather, my grandmother, and my father were all swept away by the flood, and their bodies have never been found. You committed murder! You must pay with your life!"
Seeing that some villagers were being completely unreasonable and directly shifting the blame for the last disaster onto Xiao Yanbao, Zhong Jingyi and Liang Xunling pulled Xiao Yanbao behind them to protect him. At the same time, Zhong Jingyi coldly looked at these unreasonable villagers and shouted sternly.
"What's wrong with bullying a child? If Yanbao hadn't lived in the village before, you would have been ravaged by all sorts of natural disasters long ago!"
Zhong Jingyi's words resonated with many villagers. The disabled Ninth Master pushed away the man who was pulling him back and staggered to Xiao Yanbao's side.
"Xiao Xinyan, are you alright?"
Since Xiao Yanbao was driven away last time, Ninth Master has actually noticed the signs of the village declining day by day, and even the elderly in the village are dying every month.
The villagers may not have realized anything yet, but Ninth Master clearly calculated the ages of the deceased villagers. The two who recently passed away were both under seventy years old.
"I'm fine, Grandpa Jiu, what happened to your leg?"
As soon as Xiao Yanbao asked about Ninth Master's leg, the man next to him angrily rebuked her:
"You dare ask about Ninth Master's leg? It's a waste that Ninth Master protected you back then. After you left, you even cursed everyone in the village, not even sparing Ninth Master!"
Clearly, this person has attributed all the misfortunes that have happened in the village to Xiao Yanbao, and even believes that it is the result of Xiao Yanbao's curse.
What are you saying?
Zhong Jingyi stepped forward, blocking Xiao Yanbao and the man. Ninth Master looked around, sighed, and then shouted:
"If you still consider me your elder, then you can leave now. Xiao Xinyan and the others are staying at my place tonight, and I'll send them away first thing tomorrow morning!"
After Ninth Master spoke, most people did not disperse as they had before. Instead, they stood there whispering among themselves. Only a small number of people quietly left the crowd and headed home.
Upon seeing this scene, Ninth Master's eyes dimmed noticeably. Just as Zhong Jingyi and Liang Xunling were about to ask the security personnel to push through the crowd, a hoarse voice came from behind the crowd.
"What are you all doing? Are you all just killing time?"
Upon hearing this voice, Xiao Yanbao visibly trembled, while the boy surrounded by Li Muxing immediately cheered with joy.
